  1. Trumbo could be flipped... To the Rays in a package to nab Price. Otherwise, it doesn't make much sense to me.
  2. I was purposeful with the title. Enough innuendo to make some of us perhaps immature people chuckle, but not be offensive or obscene. For the record, I would be shocked if the Brewers traded Gomez. I was also purposeful with the wording of the initial post. Gomez is one of the assets with the most value on the Brewers. Is their a package of players/prospects that you would deal him for? What teams would be good fits? Winter has set in so a little fantasy GM'ing doesn't hurt even if the premise is improbable.
  3. He is one of the most valuable commodities the Brewers have. What kind of package would it take for you to pull the trigger on a deal? What teams seem like a good fit? Two from me: The Dbacks seem ideal with a package built around Bradley and Davidson. Bradley, Davidson, Pollack, and McCarthey for Gomez and Lohse. This would give the Brewers their ace pitching prospect, a long term fixture at 3B and tremendous salary flexibility in 2015. What about Seattle? By signing Cano they may have a log jam in the infield. They need help in the outfield and are apparently looking for more pitching. Seager, Paxson, and another prospect for Gomez and Lohse. The Brewers get a lefty batter at 3B for the next 4 years and a solid lefty starter that is major league ready. In this scenario Ramirez would move to 1B and again, the Brewers would have a lot of flexibility in 2015.
  4. Bradley, Davidson, and Pollack (platoon mate for Schafer) from the Dbacks would be pretty great.
  5. Price won't be a FA until after the 2015 season.
  6. People have discussed Ike Davis, but what about Lucas Duda from the Mets. He's a lefty that has hit RHP for about an .800 OPS for his career. He walks at a high rate and he'd likely hit for more power moving to Miller Park.
  7. While I agree with the other posters in that we can be 100% certain Price is not coming to Milwaukee, a 3-team trade is definitely more plausible. The Dbacks are apparently in on Price and they have the ace and 3B prospects the Brewers should covet. The Rays may have interest in the underpaid Gomez and perhaps Morris among others. There are pieces that work, but it's far more likely the Brewers/Dbacks or Rays/Dbacks hook up for a 2 team trade than all 3 together.
  8. Correct and I completely understand endaround's point when he made that statement about Gamel. When I read it I immediately thought that a similar argument could be made for Hart. That's all.
  9. A very similar statement could be made with Hart. Hart will be 32 before opening day next season. He is coming off surgeries on both of his knees while missing all of last year. He is likely limited to 1B at this point and even if healthy, is likely a middle of the pack 1B at best going forward. He will likely cost millions of dollars (~4-5M?).
  10. From MLBTR: "As MLBTR's Charlie Wilmoth recently explained, however, the time is more ripe for an extension at this point. Though Segura has failed to sustain his torrid start to 2013, he still ended up being a 4 WAR player in his first season of full-time duty. Wilmoth opined that Segura might be worth a commitment of around $20-23MM on a five-year deal, if he sacrificed at least one year of free agency with a club option." This sounds good to me.
  11. How about Aoki for the Mariners Stephen Romero? Perhaps he could be a potential replacement for Ramirez in 2015? As a 24yo, he put up .779 OPS in 375 abs in AAA. No idea about his defense, but can apparently play 2B as well.
  12. I would target around 140 games for Braun in RF to try and keep him healthy from nagging injuries. That leaves 184 games in the corner OF for Gindl and Davis to split. That's a good chunk of playing time for both in a soft platoon.
  13. Halton at the very least should be getting every AB at first base vs. LHP. There's really no reason to play Yuni the rest of the year.
  14. Whew...glad that's settled. I was waiting for someone with the facts to enlighten us all. Today's developments surely won't be enough to convince some of you how far back Braun's PED usage dates. And they shouldn't necessarily be enough for that matter, since this easily could be an attempt by a disgruntled associate to further damage Braun's reputation. Again, while I am quite comfortable stating and accepting it as fact, I don't expect anyone else to. I'm simply one of many people whispering the realities of the Braun situation so that it won't be a huge surprise as details continue to emerge going forward. Put it this way, this lawsuit is more smoke. And when there's smoke... To state something as fact you must be able to back it up with tangible evidence. Where's yours? Do you have any primary resources that demonstratively prove that Braun has juiced throughout his career? If you don't, what you are stating is your opinion. Your opinion may turn out to be correct, but at this point and time without anything other than your belief, it is most certainly not fact.
  15. I'd go with Gamel and Halton (platoon, strict or 'soft'). Morris would be good insurance and it wouldn't hurt him to repeat AAA. The idea is that Gamel reestablishes some value and Morris improves in AAA, making one of the expendable for 2015.
  16. I guess I don't know enough about the timing of testing. Does the collection always occur after the games? What about off days? A player could take a certain level of a substance in which their levels are back in the normal range within 24 hours. The question is whether the lower level dose has a similar or any therapeutic properties as a larger one. For instance, if I take something that raises my epitestosterone levels to a ratio of 5:1, 6:1, etc. to testosterone level at its peak in my body, and then fall below 4:1 within 12-16 hours, I could potentially reap the rewards with very little risk of getting caught. Also, if a player had an abnormally low testosterone level, would it be wrong if they supplemented with something that brought them into the normal range? Wouldn't that be a level playing field?
  17. I agree that Franklin is someone they'd like to hang on to. They actually have a nice, young infield going with Seager, Miller, Franklin, and Smoak vs. RHP. Ultimately, I do think they'd deal Walker for the right bat, but his value has increased since last year. There's also the value of the players that were to be dealt. They were Seattle's 1st and 3rd rated prospects plus two young relief pitchers that I don't really know anything about. Currently, Walker is #1, and Miller is #3 (but probably falls under the same category as Franklin). Pair Walker and Furbush with one of Peterson, Pike, Taylor, or Romero and it's approximate in quality of the Upton deal. I would certainly pick up the phone and at the very least get turned down by the Mariners.
  18. Last offseason, Upton rejected a trade to the Mariners that would have brought one of Walker, Hultzen, and Paxson to the D-Backs along with Franklin, Furbush, and a 4th player (Pryor). Walker was the 18th rated prospect at that time, Hultzen 16th, Paxson 77th, and Franklin 52nd. Walker is currently the 4th rated prospect, Hultzen 28th, Paxson not rated, and Franklin is playing 2B for the Mariners putting up an OPS north of .800 so far. Upton was under contract for his 25-27 seasons for a total of $38.5M. His career OPS is .829 with his best years to date coming in '09 and '11 where he posted an OPS of .898. Gomez is under contract for his 28-30 seasons for a total of $24M. His average OPS for the last two years is in line with Upton's career OPS with this being his best year at .892 currently. Seattle still has a great need in the OF. I'd inquire about their interest in Gomez and also add in the possibility of including Aoki if the package is right.
  19. Please reread my post. There was no mention of Gomez being on the block. I'm just curious on Gomez's current trade value and I would certainly make him available if the return is sufficient. Yes, Profar has less than a year of service time, but Gomez is only under contract for the next 3 years. That was the point. Gomez should be more valuable than Profar over the next 3 years. Is he enough of an upgrade for a contending team in years 1-3 to make up for years 4-6 of Profar?
  20. I'm curious if Gomez could net Profar. Profar's value is at middle IF, not so much at DH or OF, and as Splitter put it, Texas is stacked in the middle infield. I'd wager that Gomez would be more valuable to the Rangers over the next 3 years than Profar would. In turn, the Brewers would have a gold glove caliber middle infield, with a solid defensively Schafer behind them. Positions of strength to address a position of weakness. That being said, I don't see the Brewers dealing Gomez.
  21. Bigger One 7-28: Lohse and Axford to the D-Backs for McCarthy, Davidson, and Holmberg (McCarthy is owed $9M next season) This was one of my guesses for next Brewer trade. Of course it all depends on how the D-Backs view McCarthy going forward.
  22. Small One 7-29: Gonzalez to the Braves for 2B La Stella Bigger One 7-28: Lohse and Axford to the D-Backs for McCarthy, Davidson, and Holmberg (McCarthy is owed $9M next season)
  23. Aoki would look great in the Tigers 2-hole. He and two of the Brewers relief pitchers should nab Castellanos plus maybe a nugget.
  24. He's had a terrible April apparently due to an eye issue (.471 OPS, 72 ABs). After recovering, he had a very nice June (.883 OPS, 102 Abs) and is following that up with a very bad half of July to date (.557 OPS, 34 ABs). I think he's an interesting buy low candidate. Prior to the start of this year, would Aoki been able to land Olt? Perhaps, perhaps not. If the Brewers do trade Aoki to the Rangers and Olt is the lesser/one of the lesser prospects coming to the Brewers, I certainly wouldn't complain.
  25. Olt is still a top 50 prospect and IIRC is above average defensively at 3B. Some of the shine has come off of him, but some sort of Olt/Francisco platoon next year could be very productive for the Brewers. Assuming they deal Ramirez. If the Brewers could nab an extra nugget like Font, I'd make that deal in a heartbeat.
