  1. Potter was getting abused defensively on screens. He is still trying to pick up the nuances of the team defensive principles that are vital to the Badgers’ success. He provides a nice spark off the bench with some much needed offense when he is in but he won’t be in at crunch time unless he becomes much better defensively.
  2. Props to Uwbadgers442 for calling this one back in November.
  3. Just ignore him. He's been doing this for years. The only certainties in life are death, taxes, and Clancy insisting that Braun can play 3B.
  4. Augie’s Breakaball Bar and Grill. Either that or just make it a Pizza Ranch.
  5. I don’t think there is a player in baseball that I dislike more than Molina.
  6. It looks more and more likely that he will win the slash line Triple Crown: BA .329 (Marte percentage points behind and done for the year, Rendon at .322) OBP .429 (Rendon next at .410) SLG .671 (Bellinger next at .623)
  7. If one's expectations were based on preseason projections, they have played within that range to this point... BPro: 88 wins Vegas: 86.5 wins 538: 86 wins ZIPS: 85 wins Current Pace: 84 wins OOTP: 83 wins Expecting 90+ wins & an easy cruise to the postseason was always an unlikely outcome in an increasingly competitive NL. I expected a back & forth dog fight for the NL Central title/possible Wild Card that would need 162 games (or maybe even more, again) to settle & that is exactly what we've gotten. With their 89th win today, the Brewers have officially exceeded all of these preseason projections (with 3 games left to go).
  8. No, they'd just play to win Sunday so as to not have to play Monday at all. That's what I mean though .. if they are playing to win Sunday they would pitch Flaherty on 3 days rest and go with Wainwright in a playoff scenario on Monday.. if that ended being the case we would avoid Flaherty for that playoff game. I am pretty sure that Flaherty started on Tuesday, so Sunday would be full rest for him if he were to start.
  9. Gotta' love the Pirates trolling the Cubs on the scoreboard at PNC last night...
  10. For Wisconsin sports fans, that could be one hell of a weekend. The Badgers play at Ohio State on October 26 and the Packers play at Kansas City on October 27.
  11. For those with a membership to The Athletic, there was a great article this morning about the 2009 U-18 USA team. The team was headlined by Harper and Machado but also included former Brewers farmhands Nick Delmonico and Garin Checchini. https://theathletic.com/1199894/2019/09/23/the-750-million-teens-the-untold-story-of-bryce-harper-manny-machado-and-the-remarkable-2009-under-18-u-s-national-team/
  12. 2019 Pomeranz w/Brewers: 22.1 IP, 3HR, 8 BB, 38 K, 2.63 FIP, 186 ERA+, 0.8 WAR 2019 Kimbrel w/ Cubs: 19.2 IP, 7 HR, 11 BB, 28 K, 6.98 FIP, 76 ERA+, -0.3 WAR
  13. I think at this point if the Brewers make the playoffs they should give Kimbrel a playoff share.
  14. peavy is the only one i can think off off the top of my head Yes. Peavy 2007 Others were from 1989 1978 1976 I remember Mark Davis in 1989. Would have probably also guessed Randy Jones from the 70's.
  15. September 2018: This is the most fun I’ve ever had watching Brewers baseball! September 2019 Brewers: Hold my beer...
  16. By winning their 81st game last night, the Brewers have assured that for the first time in franchise history, they will have not had a record below .500 at any point during the season. Previous bests were 2018, 2014, and 1979 (in each case, those teams were 1 game under .500 for one day during the season). Dating back to May 7, 2017, the Brewers have spent ONE DAY with a record below .500 (they lost to the Reds on April 16, 2018, to drop to 8-9 before winning their next 8 in a row). Up to this point, over the past 3 years, the Brewers have played only one game with "nothing to play for" ( the last game of the 2017 season). This may not be a big deal to some of you, but for those of us who are too young to remember the 1978-83 stretch and lived through the Bando/WSP years, it sure feels good to watch meaningful baseball in September.
  17. Madtownhawk hasn't updated his August 8 vision in a while so I thought I would give him some props. He has been pretty close so far (the Brewers actually have one more win than the path he identified). It has helped that 2 of the extra wins were against the Cubs who we are chasing for the 2nd wild card. Looking ahead, his view of 10-6 in the last 16 seems pretty realistic (though it might be 1/3 vs. STL and 3/4 vs. SD). However, like many of us, he didn't anticipate the Cardinals playing out of their minds the past month to make our chase of the Cubs for the WC instead of the division title.
  18. I realize that Wins as a stat is pretty overrated, but who had Suter with more wins (2) than Burnes and Nelson combined (1) when the year started?
  19. Six weeks from today is October 23. Game 1 of the World Series is October 22. Just sayin’...
  20. The real question tonight is whether Augie can announce the Tavern of the Game without screwing it up.
  21. Germans? Say what, now?! Forget it, he's rolling.
  22. Things I will not miss when they are gone... Grandal behind the plate. Augie behind the mic.
  23. Watched up until Freddy came in because the wife had scheduled to have friends come over for a fire. Followed the roller coaster on my phone until they left in the 10th so I got to see the last 4+ innings. Hard to remember a crazier game!
  24. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure that this rule change doesn't go into affect until 2020. This year, teams can still have 40 guys up in September if they choose to.
