  1. Still no Taylor Green? Did I miss something? Is he in Arizona? Or is he a late arrival to the AFL?
  2. Should we be encouraged that 3 pitchers on his team put up a worse ERA that Aguilar?
  3. I'm so depressed by how long ago some of those games seem... The Cleveland comeback was this year?!?! Hall's walk-off was a classic. It was also a dominant performance from Yo and Carpenter. I would imagine their is some good audio from Yo's complete game in Houston. Edit: I just looked up the McGehee home run on the Brewer's website so I could watch it again. My wife could hear it was a crowd cheering the the name "Casey McGehee". She asked what I was watching. I told her some "Brewer Highlights". To which she just replied - "Is that they one where he just messed up and then hit a grand slam?" My wife is cool.
  4. Whether Peterson and his "bio-mechanics" can actually help prevent an injury may be debatable. But if he can convince any pitchers to buy into his teachings, it would make Milwaukee a very attractive option for injury plagued pitchers like Eric Bedard or Ben Sheets. Plus, the Brewers offense could help their W-L records as they search for bigger deals.
  5. Brendan Katin is also playing in Venezuela. He is playing for Aguilas del Zulia.
  6. Heether is picking up where he left off. Through 3 (almost complete) games, he is batting .444 with 4 hits, 1 HR, 2BB and 1K. Hernan hit a HR in his first game. He also had a single, a walk and 2K. Nothing much to report on any other players.
  7. 1. Rick Peterson "list" was half tongue in cheek. 2. He didn't coach at all this year. He can say all of the things he wants about starting his business, but if Dave Duncan ever left the Cardinal's - teams would throw too much money at him to even consider taking a year off of baseball. 3. Peterson was fired as the pitching coach of the Mets. 4. Peterson has also become some what of a "rogue" pitching instruction with his dedication to biomechanics. I'm not saying his is wrong, but his stance has been well documented and some pitcher's (Johan Santana) has take some offense to his comments in the past. Honestly, I think Rick Peterson would be a very good hiring. But to act as though he is the savior or our pitching staff seems excessive. He has limited opportunities to come back to baseball because there are only so many open jobs. Of course a job with potential playoff hopes would be at the top of his list. The Brewers are lucky that he might be interested. But Rick Peterson is also lucky that they Brewers are interested.
  8. I'm so bored without the Brewers. What am I suppose to do on weeknights?
  9. I can understand being concerned about nuclear weapons - but as the end of the world? Do you really think enough nuclear weapons would EVER be deployed to destroy the entire world? (Would anyone even waste a nuclear bomb on Canada?) I live in Wisconsin. And not even in Milwaukee. My fear of nuclear weapons is hovering around 0%. I would say the most likely to actually end the world, by far, is an asteroid. But even then, I figure we can take some brash ocean oil drillers, teach them to be astronauts in a few days, and have them drill to the center of the asteroid and blow it up before it hits Earth. Seems pretty easy.
  10. Rick Peterson's "list" 1. Pitching Coach of the Milwaukee Brewers 2. Stay unemployed and out of baseball. I guess technically, that does count as being "at the very top" of his list.
  11. captkirk16- You've been pimping Gindl for years now. Do you know him?
  12. I think a lot of people took for granted how amazing Sheets was. This year's pitching performance has certainly led to a greater appreciation of Ben Sheets. It was a harsh fate for a guy who tried to pitch through a major injury to get his team into the playoffs.
  13. I wonder how much Liriano would cost from the Twins. He has really struggled since returning from his surgery. (Tommy John, I believe) He still has a decent K rate. He could be a cheap "buy low" type pitcher.
  14. I'd love to hear a detailed description of Casey McGehee's injury... What injury do you play with all season, get "cleaned up" - but still requires a "full" surgery eventually? I guess he played great with an injured knee. With a "clean up", he might be an all-star. With the "full" surgery, he would probably be Babe Ruth.
  15. I think the significant upgrade in pitching with be in 2011. We have plenty of promising minor league arms that could be ready (or near) to pitch in the major leagues with Butler, Rogers, Jeffress, Braddock, Peralta, Arnett, etc. While it is completely insane to count on those players to contribute to a championship team in their rookie year, as they approach the major leagues - their trade value goes up a ton. If the Brewers can stay in contention in 2011, they will have PLENTY of assets to trade for the likes of a CC Sabathia or Roy Halladay to make a run before Prince Fielder leaves.
  16. Would you think the same things if the Brewers traded for a player with a similiar past that needed to be place on the 40-man roster for protection? I agree it sends a bad message. But I think a new team might be able to justify adding Jeffress to their 40-man roster.
  17. I agree with Sveum and Briggs. I think the Brewers have a real shot at being World Series contenders in 2011 with Prince. If you trade Prince this off-season, the Brewers probably won't contend until 2013. (If all the prospect's pan out)
  18. Isn't a "mutual option" the exact same as "free agency"? If we both agree on a set dollar value, I will return to play baseball in Milwaukee. Isn't that the same arrangement we have with Mike Cameron?
  19. I agree 100%. For the 2010 season, Jeremy holding a spot on the 40 man roster will likely require a player with some potential MLB value to be dropped. But adding Jeffress to the 40 man roster in 2010 could benefit the Brewers greatly in 2011 and 2012. (As opposed to exposing him to a lifetime suspension) In addition, it brings me back to the idea of trading Jeffress. Teams that hope to contend really can't burn 40 man roster spots or "hide" players. However, a team like Seattle, that won't compete in 2010, could certainly afford to use a 40-man spot on a player with Jeffress' raw talent.
  20. Haudricourt has the "tone" of the team much more so than Witrado. I think more highly of several posters on this site than I do for Anthony Witrado.
  21. Do you have any evidence that the Brewers were profitable this year? That is all closed book. (Plus, depending on many factors, they could influence the numbers one way or the other to some extent) We have no way of knowing if the Brewers were willing to add payroll - or Mark A. was willing to add payroll.
  22. I doesn't really matter, but... When the Brewers signed Suppan they were likely expecting an inflationary market. I don't believe they ever expected Suppan to be a #2 starter. They just hoped that in four years, everyone would be paying #3 or #4 starters $14M a year. Unfortunately, with the down economy, that hasn't been the case - making Suppan's contract even more bloated.
  23. I'd be pretty content with Gerut and Brantley in CF next year. It's a much cheaper option than Cameron. Gerut gives a more steady presence, while Brantley gives a higher ceiling... That said, I'd still love Cameron back at around $6M.
  24. Jeremy Jeffress Still has a high ceiling. And for the team that "needs to get pitching in return", he is the only real prospect we can offer. (And it might be best for the Brewers and Jeffress to part ways) I think he gets moved with Hardy for a quality pitcher.
  25. While dadofbrantley (I mean dadofandrew) is always quick with his praise... I actually agree. Brantley really would be a nice CF next year. Whereas Taylor Green had a terrible year and has at least two 3B in the system above him. (I guess Cleveland chose correctly) Laporta might be a very good offensive player - but we could have had a better offensive player (Adam Dunn) for a reasonable price. I haven't seen enough of Laporta to adequately judge his defense, but anything other than 1B is playing out of position.
