  1. I can't get any audio either. If anyone gets it working be sure to post on here. Thanks.
  2. Jeff Cirillo! Seeing as how Koskie hasn't been cleared for baseball activities yet - I can't see anyway he plays ever again. He had a slight case of whiplash that has set him back MONTHS. Even if he gets to the point where he feels fine - what doctor would clear him seeing how such a small incident could trigger a much bigger concussion for him. Stick a fork in him - he is sadly done. So, I think most aren't to thrilled at the idea of Graffy and Counsell platooning at third. But I think Graffy and Rillo would have been adequate to hold the fort until Braun got his call up. I just can't get over the irony that we lost Rillo because he wanted to get more at bats. And here we sit looking for a 3rd baseman! Since Hendrickson is a VERY long shot to make it out of camp - Do you think we could get a better platoon player to match with Graffy? How I see our options right now... Counsell and Graffy Sign David Bell (he can't cost too much and played alright) Or trade for a 3rd baseman. (Could be Jenkins that goes too) Of course, IF Koskie never plays again - it helps clear up our logjam of position players, since we will have an extra spot open.
  3. Just a note on Monster House. The name of the town in the movie is "Mayville" The writer is Rob Schrab. Mayville is a town of 5000 people about an hour north of Milwaukee. That was my hometown - and where Rob Schrab is from. Just some trivia for you.
  4. But we would have to give up a TOP NOTCH prospect to get Andrew Jones. And then we would only have Andrew Jones for one year at $13,500,000. Or, we could have Braun for 6 years for that much money. So while Andrew Jones maybe a 100% chance of being Andrew Jones. That is putting all your eggs in one basket. Try maxing out all your credit cards and going to the casino. It might work out well, but I think you would be better off investing your extra income in a few steady mutual funds instead.
  5. Personally, I think we might end up making a trade at the deadline to move one of our prospects if we are playing well. However, first we have to have a need. Right now, I don't think moving any prospects is going to have a huge improvement in any part of our team. Is trading Braun really going to give us better outfielder (or something) that will help this year? But if we have injuries, like last year, we will likely make a move similar to De La Rosa for Graffy. But I would bet my bottom cent that Yo and Braun are pretty untouchable. Inman can't be too far behind. (We need to be covered for when Sheets leaves) But when you start talking about the Jeffries, Rogers, Parra type players - those we might be willing to move.
  6. I'll pass too. Unlike the Yankees or Red Sox, if this backfires we can't throw money at the problem to reload our team. Instead we are the Royals (or heck, the Brewers of a few years back) for another 10 years. I think the best plan is to keep building a GOOD team. From there you hope for health and a few lucky breaks to carry you the rest of the ways. I don't think small market teams can ever really make a World Series push. Instead, you make a playoff push every year and hope for the best once you get into the playoffs.
  7. Sign me up in the "hate to give him away for nothing" camp. However, I don't think any of us really knows what is going on with Jenkins and the Brewers. He was pretty unhappy with his demotion last year. And if you remember, the last game at Miller Park he got all teary eyed anticipating his leave. Jenkins might actually want to leave. And if that was/is the case - I would rather get rid of him. I am a big fan of chemistry between the players - and I am not sure how Jenkins fits that profile anymore. Besides, even if it is nothing but a salary dump...Given a choice of Suppan or Jenkins - who would you take?
  8. In their chat tonight Doug put this rumor to bed. I asked him if there was anything to it - he said it was just old information.
  9. According to ESPN Insider, the Mets are interested in Jeff Weaver. The Mets only want to sign a pitcher to 1 or 2 year contracts (seeing most of the guys left are pretty questionable) Jeff Weaver wants 4 years and $40 Million. If Weaver gets that deal, then the Suppan deal looks really good.
  10. I think you have a lot of fairly valid points. I like Turnbow a lot, but trusting him as our closer really scares me. Unless, the Brewers have seen his slider in the offseason and it looks great. However, Coco had a great second half last year as our closer. He is also in the last year of his contract. I doubt we can afford a ton of money to pay him next year - making this likely his last year with us. If that is the case, then perhaps moving him to a team like Boston makes a lot of sense. However, that is a big blow to our pullpen (already our biggest weakness) and makes contending in 2007 harder. Not to mention, Wily Mo Peno strikes out 1/3 plate appearances. You surround him with Prince, Ricky, and Billy and every starting pitcher against us would be do for a 10K game. I am not against moving Coco...I am just not to excited about the idea of getting Wily in return. (Though a lot of that depends on Wily's contact status)
  11. Hall is going to be our CF. We can argue that all we want. Those seems to be the facts. Braun is going to be a 3B. It might make sense that Hall plays third (since he already can) and Braun plays outfield - but just as they stuck with Weeks at second, the Brewers seem determined to keep this as well. IF (big IF) Koskie is fully healthy and has some trade value, it might be a good time to move him. Braun will be in the bigs sooner than later - though his defense will hurt. And Graffy can hold down 3B in the meantime. Best bet - Koskie gets trade midseason.
  12. I know lots of people have been inquiring about Turnbow, but I don't really see the appeal of trading him away. As far as former all-star closers go, his salary of 2.3M in 2007 and 3.2M in 2008 doesn't seem unreasonable. Not to mention that I believe the Brewers approached Coco about an extension and nothing has happened yet... My thinking is, Coco closes in 2007. Hopefully Turnbow turns things around and can take back his closer role in 2008, when Coco signs elsewhere for 6M a year. Projecting everything forward to 2008 we have a VERY strong offensive potential and strong pitching (Sheets, Cap, Sup, Bush, Yo) I don't foresee Melvin trading Turnbow and leaving a HUGE hole (bullpen) to deal with for 2008. Jenkins makes the most sense to trade - since he clears the most salary. Mench can't be too far behind - but I have to think one of them will still be around. Now, as we get towards the middle of the season...Braun comes up. I think Koskie is VERY likely to be dealt by midseason.
  13. I would be very excited to add Rios to our team. But this year just isn't a match. I think it would take Hardy and Bush to get him. Not to mention that Hardy's value is down because of injury. Now, assuming our young pitchers continue to grow... Hardy has a really good year... We find an adaquate replacement at SS... Then MAYBE next year we could make a play for Rios. I just don't see us in position for such a move right now.
  14. I am already drooling over our 2008 rotation. Sheets Cappy Bush Suppan Yo For 2008, that would leave CV (The elder) CV (The younger) and also Inman and Zack Jack on the outside. Honestly, the best part of the Suppan signing is that it gives us a bridge to get to some of our younger players. I am not expecting any trades this year - as the depth with be important. But, if everyone stays healthy in 2007 we will almost certainly trade one of our starters. (Hopefully CV - the elder)
  15. Dang it...I missed my chance to actually provide a bit of a scoop! I was in the airport last night picking up my brother from LA. I was casually paying attention to the passengers unloaded when I thought I saw Melvin. He was traveling very light. Had a phone up to his ear as soon as he got off the plain. I thought...that HAS to be Melvin. I was going to post it last night (This was at midnight that they landed) but I wasn't 100% sure. And I didn't want to be the guy who started the rumor... Oh well...still exciting times to hear the Brewers are active again.
  16. I want Cirillo back in 2007. That was my only item on my off-season to do list. I didn't care if we got more pitching. I didn't care if we got "the big bat" Trading Mench of Jenkins - meh I just want Cirillo. He provides great veteran leadership. He is a great pinch hitter - very adapt at moving runners. While he can't play short, he is a better backup at 3rd and can play 1st. And most importantly, I don't want to lose Tuesdays with Rillo on the D-List. He is always such a straight shooter it is great to hear his perspective on things. The only way I will accept Cirillo not playing for the Brewers is if he is announcing the games - or coaching the team.
  17. I should have mentioned it during the Ben Sheets to the Mets thread... But we could afford to trade Sheets if we signed Schmidt. I frankly would like to keep them all, because a rotation of Sheets, Schmidt, Cappy, Bush, and Change would be a great line-up. BUT, if we sign Schmidt. AND trade Sheets for a real quality player - aren't we still way ahead? Just saying, if the salary is too high to keep both of them...sign schmidt and trade sheets.
  18. Anna Benson is a broke-down hussy. That just makes me smile.
  19. I just threw up a little in my mouth.
  20. Crawford would be nice - but is he honestly that much better than Hall? Not sure why that's a question, as it's not like Crawford would be replacing Hall. Sorry I didnt explain better - my point was that in order to obtain Crawford we would likely have to give up a player of Hall's ability.
  21. I was always thinking that the "pursuit of the big bat" seemed a little unlikely to provide any real results. Its not like we don't have players who can hit home runs. Why would we sacrafice a top prospect - for someone who isnt' much better than what we might already have? Sure Manny is great. But we aren't going to get him. Crawford would be nice - but is he honestly that much better than Hall? Burrell is so-so - but then we could just keep Jenkins. I think we actually have enough power on our team as it is... Hall could repeat and hit 35HR Prince should up his pace to around 35HR Weeks - I hope improves to around 20HR Hart should be around 20HR in full-time duty And I don't think it is out of the realm of possibilities to see Jenkins hit 25HR again. I think we have the solid core - they just need to be HEALTHY and produce. Last year everyone thought we were a playoff team. We got injured and underperformed. This year, we return pretty much the same team, only a year older....and everyone is freaking out about all the changes we need? I don't get it. Sure we lost Carlos - but Hall has been WAY better than I think people expected.
  22. Nothing too exciting here. Meeh... But, I think you can figure out part of the reason the brewers are targeting him is that he doesn't strike out. If he is healthy and can make contact....maybe.
  23. I don't post much on this board - but I have read quite a bit. Everytime someone talks about a trade proposal they mention giving away junk to basically get quality back. When have the brewers ever pulled that one sided of a deal? Turnbow for Coco? I don't think ANYONE would take on Turnbow and his contracts for a bag of potatoes. The Sexson trade worked out well. BUT, we gave away a really good player to aquire lots of pieces. Giving up Scotty Po for Carlos Lee worked out really well - but at the time Scotty Po's value was pretty high. We gave up a really good first baseman in Lyle Overbay for Bush, ZJ, and Gross. And with Estrada we have to give up our #3 starter. Bottom line...no one wants our junk. Boston will have no interest in Turnbow. They will have no interest in Jenkins. (Why trade away their extra outfielders and bring back another outfielder?) If you want to find a trade partner...we have to give up something of value, that is a weakness on the other team. So my question is...Would you trade JJ Hardy for Coco? At least that makes some sence for both teams. Then Hall stays at shortshot. Coco becomes our centerfielder.
  24. I love Carlos- nice hit - boy am I going to miss him.
  25. We didn't start the fire, Bill Hall did, and he's unapologetic. Bill Hall ate just one, Bill Hall stopped once he popped. To date Bill Hall has successfully completed every potato chip challenge known to man.
