  1. That was my thought. I think it would leave a diminished taste in my mouth. I'd rather have the Cubs clinch before they arrive in Milwaukee.
  2. I'm not arguing the merits of BA and OBP as much as I can't really believe that a hit and a HBP are exactly the same thing. Runner on 2nd outs, I want my player to get a hit, not draw a walk. The higher the AVG, the more it shows that he is getting a hit. Hits tend to advance runners farther than walks and HBP, so I think that AVG therefore has some merit.
  3. I wanted to address this topic as it's getting to September and for many including myself being born in 1982, I never got to be a part of or witness the on-field celebration of the AL pennant and making the playoffs. It is the single-most moment that I am waiting for as a Brewer fan and plan to be at every single game once our magic number to clinch is 2. I realize that it may not get there and I am not calling my shot or predicting playoffs, I'm simply stating that I can't wait for that moment and imagine almost every single day what that is going to be like or feel like. That said, the scheduling this season prevents some interesting scenarios and I wanted to gauge the feelings of some other fans. As it appears now, the Brewers have a very slim margin for winning the NL Central (10% I believe). However, if they get to or remain with 3 games back, it's entirely possible that the Cubs winning 1 of 3 and us Brewers fans having to endure that celebration on our home turf. If we clinch the Wild Card also during that series, will the Cubs celebration diminish at all how you feel as a fan during that moment? I've thought through the scenarios and I think I'd rather just have the Cubs be 5 up with 4 to play so that we can have that moment in the sun. I'd hate to be in the middle of game #160, learn of the Cardinals loss to clinch the wild card in the 7th inning and our fans go crazy, only to lose the game to the Cubs and watch them celebrate in the center of our diamond. Does anybody else have the same feel or fears and thought about that moment only to start to realize this season that it could be upstaged by the Cubs given the schedule?
  4. At first glance at the title, I thought "Water and Mow it" There has been talk about FieldTurf, I wondered if that was where this was going.
  5. Hardware is already being installed in most ballparks and September 1st seems like a good start date.
  6. If I am a GM, I'm looking for above average ballplayers, both in the field and offensively. I don't see the need to settle for mediocre in 2009. For me, the hourglass has run dry for Mr. Weeks. They've given it more than a fair shake and it's time to go in a different direction. It can be sugar-coated however you want, cherry pick the stats that best suit the pro arguments, that's fine. I prefer to look at the overall picture and as Pro-Weeks guys point out, it's .244/.351/.402 without even touching on defense. Again, that's great that we can find some nice stats somewhere, perhaps he's .608/.692/1.085 on day games, in the month of July, South of North Carolina, but West of Mississippi. It's going on 4 plus years and the overall picture isn't impressive. I don't know what else I can say about this topic that hasn't already been said. I hope he comes up with some big hits down the stretch and personally for him, I hope he realizes all of his potentials some place else very soon. On the better chance that he doesn't, I'm hoping it's not in Milwaukee, WI.
  7. And That wrote: Such as? Sorry, Couldn't...resist...the...temptation! ? ??
  8. Speaking of Uecker seats. Can you imagine the campout for these seats if they truly decide to still sell them at $1 for the playoffs and World Series? I know I'd campout for a chance to get in the door for a World Series game.
  9. I don't get it either. Would you rather have a guy hit .299/.360/.400 over an entire season or a guy that hits .261/.350/.430 from June to August?
  10. From what I've heard, sellouts are a 99% certain for the rest of the season.
  11. I'm guessing it didn't sound something like, "you know, i just got to you know start hitting better you know and fielding you know the ball, you know?
  12. The reason it is ignored so much as it only tells the story about his offense. And if you only want "average hitting" for half a season, then I guess keep pimping those "since June" stats.
  13. I guess my humor did not make it over. I had pictured the following image below. By the way, with compound interest, what do I owe still for the baseball. I'm hoping to make the playoffs. Send me a PM again on the payoffs, as I forgot. I'd love to do a fantasy football. I was thinking of doing one with a live draft at Friday's again, but didnt know you have started one. If you were that hungry, I'd take you to lunch, no need to eat paper. http://gadgets.boingboing.net/gimages/robo_goat.jpg
  14. What about bringing Mark Grudzielanek home from KC and getting some pitching or prospects for Rickie Weeks? I realize he'll only play maybe 100 games this season, but he is still hitting .299/.345/.400 with only 41 strikeouts in over 330 atbats. His righty lefty splits are nearly identical and Billy Hall could go back to utility infielder, leaving JJ and Escobar to man the left side of the infield. Maybe Grud is the same as Ray Durham in a sense, but I always like the idea of guys finishing their career for their hometown team so to speak.
  15. How far are you from the Mayfair Mall food court again?
  16. I think you are misunderstanding the whole big picture. Not everybody (14,000) can get up and leave the terrace level because they don't like their view. If you took the time to read the entire thread, you would have seen that I encouraged the fellar to walk around and have a good time. It's a two-part matter of ettitquette (why are you so special that you can do something 14,000 other people would love to do and why take the areas from those that paid for SRO when you have perfectly good seats that you paid for knowing you didnt like them prior to the purchase) and then a matter of logistics. As for the guy claiming he works for the Brewers Your 86 posts prove I don't have to go there. Spend some time on the board, get to know the good people around here and myself before taking a cheap one at my integrity. Thanks!
  17. I dont think it's either's fault. I just think it's good defense and catching.
  18. Gosh, No. I'm not taking a demotion to become an usher. There are just only so many of these open viewing areas in the stadium that are sold as SRO that in my mind, is taking away their seat or standing area. You have a seat you paid for, why not sit in it? Again, I'm sure everybody in the terrace would like a nice vantage point, but that's not possible, but I guess for a general few, why not take advantage of the system apparently. Back to the usher issue, I think the reason why sunflower seeds are different for fans as opposed to players is because of the familiarity of the players amongst each other. The players are tested for drugs and disease on a routine basis and therefore play and eat and interact together without so much as worrying about one's saliva. Joe Schmo walking in the door, you never know what his saliva presents, would rather not have to come in contact with those bodily fluids on the floor in bunches.
  19. Let me ask you this, if you don't intend to go to your seat and want to spend all that time on the loge level or field level, why not help the Brewers out in keeping things rationed by purchasing a seat where you intend to spend your time?
  20. Fire guidelines may require certain numbers, but if there is a big issue why attract people with tables and open sightlines? For people to sit at occassionally, while in passing. It's not intended to serve as a "seat" for you sit in or stand at for 9 innings. They made one for you, you purchased it ahead of time, likely knowing "the view" before you purchased, yet you make no attempt to get to your seat. The Brewers have made Miller Park a fan friendly place that allows for the viewing of the game from many different vantage points. Once I am in the park it is my decision where I go. Again, these fan friendly areas are not constructed for you to spend your entire time there. They are areas to visit and spend some time at, but not 9 innings. Your ticket is not general admission, where you just get to go where you want. There are reasons for your assigned seat, other than price structure. Let me ask you this, if you don't intend to go to your seat and want to spend all that time on the loge level or field level, why not help the Brewers out in keeping things rationed by purchasing a seat where you intend to spend your time?
  21. 2000 is one thing, but can you imagine 14,000 people from the Terrace Level standing in the RF corner because they don't like their terrace level view? It causes for safety hazards and evacution nightmares. Your ticket is not general admission, it allows for you to occupy a seat. You, yourself changing the terms of your ticket and deciding to wander wherever you please and stand around for the entire game in another level of the stadium that the Brewers and their safety contingency plans did not anticipate causes problems, especially if done in mass amounts. You want a standing room only ticket, buy one. You want a loge level ticket, buy one. Fire guidelines place occupancy restrictions on all levels and are in place for your safety. Again, it's ok to visit other areas of the stadium, it's what they are they for, but in moderation and the key word "visit". If you plan to stay on a certain level the entire game, just buy that ticket.
  22. I understand where you are coming from in general. However, it appears as if you were never in your seat to begin with. As a Brewers employee and specifically in safety, we can't have all 12,000+ from the terrace level wandering around in the RF corner of the loge level simply because "they don't like the view". If you buy a ticket for the terrace, remain in the terrace. Sure, visit other parts of the park...the kids area, the Metevante Club, fan zone, whatever, but don't stand around loitering in the Loge Level the entire 9 innings. If it were all just general admission, which is how you appear to be treating your ticket, wouldn't that be quite a silly situation? Seating is divided for reasons and ticketed patrons should at a minimum remain in the level they purchased for a majority of the game.
  23. I don't have a problem with the play. It was just good defense for the catcher to have him cut the ball and get the out at 3rd. I don't think it was truly sacrificing anything. If the catcher feels the play at the plate was close, he wouldn't have cut the ball. JJ didn't deliberately get himself in a rundown so Durham could score. If Yost believes that, I may suddenly start to feel the opposite way about him. Just good defense, led by the catcher.
  24. That was my first thought. Totally unprofessional and that is my problem with some ushers at Miller Park. Don't beat around the bush, don't try and be cute or condescending. Just tell me what you want me to do and I'll do it. That said, all the banter regarding how much money you spend at Miller Park is really irrellevant. It kind of almost says, "I pay your salary." and I hate that false ideal.
  25. From what I've put together, Lawire is 0 for 9 with two RBI. A sac fly and an RBI groundout.
