Posted over in the off topic on this. But yes...If you have mlb.tv for 14.99, your mlb.tv account is automatically synced with your atbat application. Meaning for 14.99/mo and a one time purchase of the atbat ap (14.99), you get all 162 Brewers games streaming to your iphone as well as both audio feeds if you want to use those instead, in addition to the stats, team videos, team news, etc that you can filter by team(s). This year, I will be doing it for the ipad rather than the iphone for the larger screen and ability to run a/v from my ipad to the hdtv whenever the wife allows and still save money for buying the cable's extra inning package for $209.00 or whatever it is going for with your cable provider.

Polish, I had MLB.tv last year and own an Iphone. Last year, I purchased the atbat ap for 14.99 I believe. I was able to watch the games live on my iphone, either audio feed and a highlight videos section that updated approx 4-6 minutes after the play was over. If I was at the office for example, I could just watch the important plays as they were loaded approx 4-6 minutes after the play concluded. So I think I paid 14.99 one time for the atbat ap and 14.99/month for the mlb.tv subscription. This allowed me to watch games on my pc or on my iphone. That price certainly beats the on-demand extra innings package from my cable provider. This year, I am planning on getting an ipad and getting the same subscriptions as last year. Then, I can purchase the appropriate a/v cables from Apple and run the game from my ipad to my flat panel hdtv when I so desire. The cost of an ipad not withstanding, I'll still save money or doing it by Extra Innings. Obviously an ipad is a costly device but will have other uses naturally. Plus the ability to take the game broadcast anywhere! The only problem I am having with this method is not knowing how much data a game broadcast uses. My understanding is that new ipad purchasers now cant get an "unlimited data" option for AT@T any longer. So, if I am away from my home wifi, I might have an issue.

Thinking about going to my first live PGA event. Probably a Fri or Thurs round at the Transitions Championship (Tampa, FL) or the TPC at Sawgrass. Does anybody know of any tips or must-knows when it comes to going to a live golfing event? Is it better to set up camp on a specific green or teebox, or better to follow a few groups around throughout the day?

They use your IP address, not your zip code. Yep. I can never get the Rays on MLB.tv when I am at home. I don't know of any way around it either. The damn thing always knows where I am when I travel on business too!

Does anybody use mlb.tv over their ipad? I used it last year with my iphone and was extremely happy with the service, except for the small picture. I did switch to a droid, but am considering buying an ipad. If I do so, is there any way to get the signal from my ipad to my hd flat panel tv? I could save a ton of money over paying for the darn Extra Innings package.

If You Could Move One Team...
lcbj68c replied to Warning Track Power's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
NoWay. I'm not saying a salary cap would or wouldn't work...but there is a huge difference in telling New York you can only spend $115M vs telling New York you can spend $180M+, but then you give the league $23M or roughly each team $750k/year. A cap is a cap and a tax is a tax. The only soft cap there is now is limited to the depth of the owners britches at that moment. -
As a Florida resident, I've done this a few times. I've done a few different locations as well. My most favorite experience had to have been STS-116. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-116. This particular launch, we viewed at Jetty Park. I want to say we paid $5 for our vehicle parking. While there was no direct view of the launch pad, I probably enjoyed this site the most as it was amazing to see everything go from pitch black to an absolute sunshine experience. All shuttle vehicles launch from #39A. My personal opinion is that there is no difference in the viewing in absolutely having to see the launch pad vs not seeing the launch pad. A great number of people just park their vehicles along the interstate for tens of miles to witness this spectacle. I live on the west coast and can still see the vehicle and contrail from my house on clear days. The law and geography only allow you to get so close, so don't feel like you have to be at the minimum distance on the NASA Causeway (6.5mi) vs Titusville or Jetty Park (12mi). Your experience will be the same. Traffic is a nightmare within the last two hours and if you are headed back to Orlando afterward, give yourself 2.5 hours to get back. Normally a 40 min trip. Unless of course, time isn't an issue and you do some of the space coast touristy stuff before heading back to Orlando. As far as the tickets you were speaking of....the NASA Causeway...this is actually on Kennedy Space property. However, they started a lottery process for the last few flights and your opportunity I believe is past. http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/space-shuttle-launch-viewing-tickets.aspx. I have no knowledge of whether secondary ticket sales are possible or authorized and transferable. I presume they are but buyer beware like anything else. One neat option is the pontoon boat rentals that take you to the minimum distance away allowed by law to watch unobstructed from the water. This is no cheap ticket but a once in a lifetime experience that you are already doing, so if that enhancement is worth it to you, by all means, its a vacation, right! Several companies advertise on spacecoast.craiglist.org My personal opinion would be to seek out one of the coastal parks in Titusville or hit Jetty Park. I love this website and u may find it helpful, http://www.launchphotography.com/Shuttle_Launch_Viewing.html STS-133 Launch is set for 4:50pm. Don't fret cancellation. You're going to get a good feel from the local media on the morning of whether or not weather will likely cooperate. February afternoons are not difficult to forecast, unlike April through August. If you got any other FL questions, feel free to pick away.

OOTP 6.5 (baseball sim) league seeking two GMs

Sounds like fun. How time consuming is this? -

I'm iphone all the way. However, I have the first gen and don't know the jailbreak capabilities of the iphone4. I currently have a prepaid sim in my jailbroken phone. I use it for wifi all over, I buy 1,000 texts whenever I need them (usually once a month) for 9.99 and then I buy 300 minutes for 14.99 and use sparingly. A smartphone, still able to get all of apple's aps, plus cydia's aps all for about $25/mo. Again, I have no idea where iphone4 is with it's abilities to jailbreak and swap sims. That's not saying you have to jailbreak your phone and use a different sim/carrier. But the advantages to go that route are there. After spending near $100/mo for AT&T's midtier pricing+data packages, I got tired of allocating a good chunk of money there every month. So that was nice. As far as actual phones go, here's a great site http://www.engadget.com/2...hich-one-should-you-get/

This couldnt be further from the truth. The Rays are very motivated to move salary. They need to cut another $10M, give or take, to get to the publicly stated number of 53M. Garza is in his second year of arby and is going to command over 5M. Shields is already signed for 4.25M. While Shields is certainly just as much a candidate as Garza, somebody is going to go. The Rays will be trading somebody. Price, Niemann, Davis, Sonnastine, Hellickson are all viable in that rotation without mentioning Shields and Garza. Somebody, maybe both. is going to go. They don't need to be blown away with prospects, they just need to pull the trigger on the best deal for them that dumps salary and gets the most in return.

Red Sox to sign Crawford to 7 year/$142 mil deal
lcbj68c replied to Crew2323's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Yep, the rich keep on getting richer. How many people were saying after 2008, "Yeah, the Rays are in the World Series, but how long before they have to rebuild?" I guess now we know the answer. Two years. It's off seasons like this that make me appreciate how difficult Doug Melvin's job is a bit more. ~~ Invader3k It's well known that I don't wear the crown in the Melvin supporter camp, but I don't wear the crown in the other camp either. However, I really have to take some exception with the point you made and how it was spun. As a Tampa resident, I see the daily struggles of this team and have to listen to daily chatter from real fans that yearn something great for this team and this city. Consider these facts a moment considering the Tampa Bay Rays. 2010 attendance: 1.86M (22nd) 2009 attendance: 1.87M (23rd) 2008 attendance: 1.78M (26th). In a game to clinch the AL East last season, Tampa fans supported the occasion to the tune of their 4th lowest attended game of the season for a paltry 12,446. By comparison, the lowest Brewers attended game of the year (didn't want to find 4th lowest) was 22,761, nearly double. Ownership has been longing for a deal for a new stadium. Trying to play to the government that a better centrally located field might increase revenue. Bizofbaseball.com reports that each Rays ticket garners on average, $21.81 of revenue. This is strictly tickets, not including merchandise, concessions or other revenues. If Tampa could get their situation right to the tune of attracting even around 10th in the league where Milwaukee is, that's an additional 1 million in attendance and near $22M in revenue that could be put into the payroll of the on-field talent. The situation is really a difficult one for Stuart Sternberg in that I wouldn't be surprised if he is shopping around for other cities with which to relocate. With those numbers of continued support around the tune of 1.7M, it's amazing that he has been able to operate the club at a payrolls of $73M & $63M the past two seasons. Couple that with a collection of local governments that aren't willing to help the situation with a new stadium, a new location, anything that might help the citizens and the area. You've got players (Longoria & Price specifically) that were calling out the fanbase for their pathetic efforts last season. Players are finding Tampa isn't a place they want to play. What Andrew Friedman has done is nothing short of miraculous. Considering the starting pitching that remains, I wouldn't call the team in full rebuild mode. Remember they won the AL East and went to the World Series with a $43M payroll the same season the Brewers won a Wild Card and pushed a divisional series to 4 games with an $80M payroll. To really find comparison Doug Melvin and Andrew Friedman is truly a disservice. With more obstacles to overcome, a far lesser payroll, stiffer competition dollar wise and talent wise in division, Andrew Friedman went out and surrounded his budding superstars during their years of control, with pitching that would make a complete team. Doug Melvin has failed to do that. And not only failed to do that, but failed to do so with far more money and far more support from ownership and the fan base. Andrew Friedman has won two division titles in maybe the toughest division in baseball and has won a pennant. There's no doubt that Doug Melvin's job is difficult. But when you have situations out there that are far more complex, less money to work with, and a growing list of off the field distractions, and that General Manager makes it work to the tune of sustained division titles and a pennant, it makes me sick to think of what Doug Melvin has done during our superstars window of team control. It doesn't make me appreciate his job that much more. -
Mike Minor Bio Position: LHP School: Vanderbilt Drafted: 7th overall in the 2009 draft by the Atlanta Braves Scouting Report: Minor is just about average across the board, with no knockout pitch but good enough command and feel to succeed at the college level and probably dominate the low minors. Whether he does well in the majors depends on how his off-speed stuff, which has been inconsistent during his entire college tenure, holds up over time. When he's on, he's a No. 4 starter in the majors who could play up to a No. 3 because he has command and control -- Minor shows four pitches that are all average or better; his best pitch is an above-average changeup with good downward tail, but he can show a solid-to-average curveball with good two-plane break. But when he's off, he's like Jeremy Sowers -- for about a month of his 2009 season, his curveball was ineffective or absent, leaving him as primarily a fastball-changeup guy who throws strikes. Mike Minor | LHP-SP | Atlanta Braves | DOB: 12-26-87 | 6? 3” | 200 lbs | B/T: R/L | 2009 1st rd. pick 7; from College | ATL #4 ranked prospects according to Baseball America (2010) | MiLB Player Page Many experts considered the Braves drafting Minor with the seventh overall pick as an “overdraft.” He is hoping to prove them wrong. Poised with four pitches, Minor throws a plus changeup, a 86 to 91 mph fastball, a slider and curve that are “works in progress.” He mixes speeds well with his fastball, which helps him keep hitters guessing. Shows good command, ability to locate his pitches and has good control. His frame suggests he could add two to three MPH. When he “lights” up the radar gun, he is throwing between 92 and 93 MPH, but his pitch becomes flat and wild. Scouts say his changeup is “outstanding,”and it’s, “[his] best offering.” Baseball America calls him a savvy pitcher with middle of the rotation potential and John Sickels says he has a small margin for error.

Tampa resident, so got to weigh in. The Brewers connection has serious legs here locally. 620WDAE batted around the idea for a full hour this morning. Locally, they have no problems dealing Garza, but would prefer to ship Shields out from a talent standpoint. As long as it isn't Hellickson, nobody's crying about losing a quality starting pitcher. In return, they really need relief pitching and some type of first base candidate outside of Johnson. Lorenzo Cain is appealing to them, but only if Upton goes, because Jennings is waiting in the wings as well. It would seem that the media and fanbase would be tickled with a Jeffress or Axford + Gamel + low level in return for Garza. An established bullpen piece also might be a part of the mix instead of a third prospect. Add a straight up Cain for Upton to that if the parties so desire. Garza + Upton for Jeffress, Gamel, Cain and Parra (or low level prospect)

Thanks for all the help. I window shopped today and then compared what I was interested in against all the black friday deals that are going to be out there. The most thing that I was afraid of was the refresh rate (hz). So, I decided that I wanted Plasma, so that I would totally take hz out of my viewing equation. To answer some questions out there, my loveseat, couch, and recliner sit mostly near the far wall, opposite the tv, at 14.5 feet away. I've read that unless the tv is bigger than 50'' that the 720/1080 addition over vertical lines isn't seen very much. I didn't notice much myself today while viewing. Anyhow, I think I've narrowed it down to this 42' plasma that kmart will be selling for $399. http://bfads.net/Kmart-Bl...2-720p-600Hz-Plasma-HDTV Any concerns?
