  1. The Padres don't have any former Pirates who can torment us... do they? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  2. It is home runs like that which make me wish we had Adam Dunn sometimes. Ridiculous.
  3. I only counted four times Melvin said "and that." I honestly expected more. I guess he'll be in the booth for another half inning so we'll see. Three innings and one run from Carlos so far, not too bad. He has 46 pitches so if he manages his pitches well maybe we can get him through 5.
  4. Nice job, Corey. It would be really sweet if you got hot and stayed hot for a while.
  5. Between that and the "you can't see me" John Cena taunt as he was rounding second base all the way home, I would be very surprised if he doesn't catch at least one in the ribs tonight.
  6. Speaking of Brewers dreams, I had a dream about a month ago that Prince Fielder was called out at third base on a garbage call and he punched the umpire in the face. It was pretty awesome. This was right after one of the games we had where everyone was complaining about the strike zone and blown calls on the bases.
  7. Carlos, I've always believed in you. In fact, in order to change my own personal mojo, I have changed my user avatar. That is my contribution to turning the page for us to get back to our winning ways. Keep the ball down, change speeds, and be the pitcher Wayne Franklin never was. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Offense, lets get some runs early and often!
  8. Wait, Jody Gerut hit the baseball? I'm confused. I guess that's a tiny sliver lining that he has been swinging the bat a little better the past two days. EDIT: I give him props and then he has a moment of fail. No more props for you, Jody.
  9. Ditto. That is really all you can do at this point. It is beyond disappointment, anger, whatever. For those people who have been looking for the low point of the season for the past few weeks, meet Josh Willingham and his 8 RBI.
  10. Ken Macha revisiting the ghost of Ned Yost tonight. He has been doing that a lot lately. This reminds me of a couple games Suppan pitched last year where Yost left him out there 6 batters too long.
  11. Bottom line, this was another disappointing loss. Shadows, no shadows, whatever the case may be, it isn't an excuse anymore. It just comes down to execution and getting it done, and we aren't doing that on a consistent basis. While I'm sitting in my seat at the ballpark watching this team I had a few interesting observations. Corey Hart didn't look very good in right field today. Maybe it is just that he moves gracefully like a gazelle so it doesn't appear like he's exerting effort, but he seemed like he was moving in slow motion and a couple balls fell in front and behind him. The Jody Gerut error was just laughable. No other way to describe it. Looper had pretty poor command early and really fell apart there in the 6th. This team to me feels a lot like the 2006 Brewers right now with the pitching and bullpen woes (or is that woahs?). I've had that feeling for a few weeks and have just been trying to sit on it and stay on the side of "the sky is not falling." The sky is definitely not falling yet, but if we don't get some guys hot and get some consistency in our rotation and bullpen, we might start to see flying projectiles sooner or later.
  12. This smells like one of those typical Melvin moves where we get a guy with a plus something (Colome has a 95 MPH+ fastball), throw it against the wall, and see if it sticks. Hopefully it does, but if not no big loss.
  13. My gut feeling is Trevor Time, at the very least. I've been to 7 games so far this year and am 5 for 7 on Trevor time, and have a 5-2 record overall. Opening Day is one of those 7, but Trevor was injured so he obviously didn't pitch, and he didn't pitch in the Sadowski massacre.
  14. Nice job getting some insurance. Hopefully Stetter can come in and close this one down. Did anyone see Weeks in the bullpen hanging with McClung?
  15. As an old wrestling mark, I am still amused every time Coffey runs in to the Ultimate Warrior theme.
  16. Yo got his retribution against Bucknor, now he got a hit. Nate McLouth is still annoying, Pirate or not.
  17. I was thinking this would be the perfect time to let Gerut make an out and bring on Coffey, but eh. Hopefully we have Coffey up in case Yo runs into trouble.
  18. You'd never know Hardy ran a 6.71 60-yard dash to finish in the top 5 fastest Brewers two years ago seeing him run down the line this year. I guess there is something to that game speed argument after all.
  19. McClung left the game due to injury yesterday, so we can assume this is fairly legitimate. Hopefully some rest and recuperation will do Seth well. He has endeared himself to many fans and even though he isn't a premium pitcher or reliever, he has still been an important part of our bullpen this year.
  20. Nice job driving in the run, Yo! I toast my adult beverage to you. Felipe Lopez's batting stance and the quirky way he flips his bat back and forth is almost as annoying as Ryan Dempster's windup, but at least he's our guy instead of a Cub. If he keeps hitting, he can do whatever he wants.
  21. I watched the Sheets 18 K game this afternoon on FSN. It made me hope that Yo can come out and have a coming out party similar to the one Sheets had that day. At this point I'd just settle for a win, but let's get greedy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  22. Ben Sheets' 18 strikeout game is on FSN right now. Johnny Estrada is seriously half the size he was when we had him. What happened? lol As well, I miss Craig Counsell's old batting stance... although I don't miss the .230 average which went with it.
  23. I suppose that is the reason Melvin is looking at relievers as well as starters. Other than his stellar month of May, Villa has been pretty abysmal. I'm guessing most of that has to do with his .391 BABIP at Miller Park. Hopefully that autocorrects itself at some point.
  24. The sky is not falling yet. The Braves come into this series pretty hot so it will be a challenge, but one hopefully Parra and the offense will be up to after a nice day off.
