  1. Coffey's stuck in NC due to the snow they received according to TH. Looks like they scheduled a Q&A with Doug & Gord where Gomez was going to be for his introductory press conference. LaTroy Hawkins will now face the ever dangerous mystery opponent in the Who Wants to be a Brewer game.
  2. This morning Haudricourt tweeted Carlos Gomez is going to miss On Deck due to the flu. I wonder what they'll do to fill the autograph slot and the press conference time they had set aside for him.
  3. That is good to know. I am always looking for a warmer fall/early spring hat when it is still cold but not cold enough for a beanie or other winter hat. Thanks for the info.
  4. The fact Prince too is only doing 5x7's definitely makes me glad I got Prince on an 8x10 at On Deck last year. Prince did the 8x10 and Weeks sweet spotted a baseball. I could understand if this were a free event like the Block Party or another team sponsored event, but considering this is a paid event for charity it is pretty disappointing.
  5. The photo cards thing is pretty ridiculous. I really wouldn't mind paying $25 for a personalized 8x10, but for a personalized team issued 5x7 with his standard mug shot that isn't even worth the time and effort it would require, not even to just meet Braun. Well, at least there is always the random memorabilia to peruse.
  6. Pretty much, bhf. I am considering changing my strategy. I was going to go for Braun, but I don't think that I'm going to get there at 7am to sit in line for three hours, only to then stand in the Braun line for another 4 hours until tickets are handed out as they won't be handed out until an hour before the session begins. There have to be other opportunities to get Braun. I might go for Yo and hit up some of the vender rummages.
  7. This is a nice depth deal. Davis adds a veteran left-hander to the rotation which is typically a valued commodity. If it doesn't work out we can cut bait after this year and not lose much. Hopefully he can come in and provide some stability and keep us in games.
  8. That is a pretty nifty cap, alas I do not have it. One suggestion I have is a couple years ago I was able to find a Brewers knit cap with a bill on it at Lids in Milwaukee. The bill isn't as good as a typical baseball cap bill, but it is better than nothing and keeps me very warm. It might be a lead for you to check out as I'm pretty sure there are some Lids stores in Madison. I didn't see anything on the Lids site, but it is worth a try.
  9. Last year was great. There was only one entrance to the event area and the line begins on the third floor where the event was being held. Eventually they cap the number of people on the third floor waiting so there is still room to mill around and have people begin waiting on the second level next to the escalator and so on. There were maps last year as well listing where people would be so that while in line you could plan out what you wanted to do. I hope it is just as organized this year.
  10. If everything stays as is I could see Macha going with Wolf in order to have Gallardo pitch between Wolf and Parra. I'd personally go with Gallardo and use Bush to break up Wolf and Parra.
  11. Hooray, Human Rain Delay! Vargas did a quality job in relief last year, and even over his career Vargas has seemingly been successful in relief. He has a knack for getting out of big jams, and not starting allows him to not be over-extended or have the opposing team see his stuff two or three times in any given game.
  12. Last night's episode was definitely a good one. I like the fact they featured Erin a bit more. Dwight's "in an ideal world I would have all ten fingers on my left hand so my right hand could just be a fist for punching" quote was awesome.
  13. Capuano coming back is another one of those low risk, potential reward type of situations. He's a great guy to have around simply because he is a good guy, but if he can even come close to being effective again as a LHP that is a bonus to the team.
  14. Awesome interview. Whenever I think of Spivey I think of the 3 error game he had in the epic cheese sandwiches 17-inning, 26 strikeout game against the Angels in 2004 (Sorry, Junior). That and the notorious high socks. Spivey's insights on Hardy are interesting and make sense. Just by reading the interview you can definitely tell his passion for the game.
  15. Most of the "must have" highlights have been nominated. One I'd like to hear again is Gamel's first career home run from the May 18th game in St. Louis which secured the series sweep.
  16. When I saw it was Phil Cuzzi who botched that call I wasn't surprised at all. Phillies-Rockies tonight has been postponed due to "poor weather." I find that slightly funny, but also slightly annoying.
  17. I'd say check some local sports/gaming card shops in your area. I know when I used to have a small collection they had different white boxes you could buy to keep cards in that were all different sizes. You'd probably have to improvise with some padding for the bobble, but the boxes would assuredly work.
  18. You have to wonder as this type of thing continues to grow and grow in baseball, will baseball at some point feel they need to take a stand to avoid some of these types of situations from occurring in the future. I can see it getting to a point where teams, players, etc. getting sued or raked over the coals to get a ball or other piece of memorabilia back could at some point force the league to put some type of fine print in ticket sales stating that all bats, baseballs, and any other player memorabilia used during the game is property of major league baseball and can be recalled at any time for any reason, just to avoid lawsuits such as this one. It is kind of sad, but that is what our society has come to.
  19. Ryan Raburn, atonement is thy name. Games like this are why I love sports.
  20. Crain gave up Prince's first career home run. And we are tied!
  21. That was an awful decision by the Tigers LF to not play that ball for a single. That said, Delmon Young had an awful AB trying to drive the run in. Quite an exciting game this one is.
  22. This has not been the season many of us hoped for, but lets end it with a win. Please? Brewers baseball, I will miss you.
  23. I still have game 162 on my DVR, I go back and watch the ending every once in a while. I still remember that day vividly. I had to work so I had Uecker on the radio, the Marlins-Mets Gameday up on my computer, and I spent more time lurking on BrewerFan than doing work during the last few innings of both games, lol. Looking back on those threads brings all of the memories right back. I only hope that 2010 brings more fond memories such as those to remember.
  24. I am about to head out the door to go give Yo the standing O he deserves, this will be the last Brewers game of 2009 for me. Lineup via the Brewers Blog: BREWERS 2B Craig Counsell RF Corey Hart LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder 3B Casey McGehee CF Jody Gerut C Mike Rivera SS Alcides Escobar RHP Yovani Gallardo
  25. Brad Fischer held a runner at third and didn't get him thrown out at the plate, and he gets booed. LOL. Fielder will get that elusive RBI soon!
