  1. Seeing more of Kottaras might not be a bad thing at this point. Rivera or Kendall likely block that ball.
  2. So now Villa is pitching. Are the Brewers trying to make everyone forget Parra exists in the hopes they can DFA him and sneak him through waivers when Suppan comes back?
  3. As Rock would say, the skunk is out of the box. Nice to see Corey get a hit.
  4. I think Macha and company figured Gomez might get better pitches to hit being in front of Braun and Fielder, but really, the scouting report on the guy is out. He chases a lot of bad pitches. Flipping Escobar and Gomez might actually be more help to Gomez because batting in front of the pitcher he will need to be patient since he won't get a lot to hit.
  5. Zaun is slow. He's not Estrada slow, but he's slow. lol For most guys in our lineup that's an infield single.
  6. That's a strong man to hit a HR on one knee. Yikes.
  7. Well, looks like the scouting report was right. Hawkins pumping it in there at 94-95 was too much for Holliday to handle. Hawkins has had a great first week as a Brewer.
  8. This was my first live game of the year. There was a pretty lively crowd for a Tuesday night. Not too many complaints. The offense put up some runs, Randy Wolf pitched an effective game, Hawkins had quite the debut, and we got to see Trevor Time. Brewers fans were able to go home happy tonight.
  9. Scott Schoeneweis gets his MLB job anyway, landing on his feet with the Red Sox. He just didn't have a place on the Brewers.
  10. Bill Hall's moment of infamy so far as a Red Sox is almost spilling out of the dugout. He tripped on the top step and caught himself before he fell during introductions. He gave the Billy Hall sly smile as he walked to the baseline. I'm just glad baseball is back.
  11. That was a pretty horrific injury. It seemed to be a freak accident as Amare barely grazed him. It is disappointing because Bogut has been playing really well. The good part about the east is there really aren't too many "true" centers these days so the Bucks may be able to get away with Kurt Thomas and playing small if some of the other guys pick up the slack.
  12. 13-10 5 HR + 7 SV + 5 SB = 17 TB I echo the sentiments of a slow start, but a strong finish to the month.
  13. I'll go with 83-79. Now, some random predictions that are not based on any scientific evidence other than a hunch. This will be the year Rickie Weeks finally takes off. He'll have some defensive hiccups here or there, but he'll stay healthy and hit like many knew he could. Fielder will continue to mash. McGehee will struggle to put up the numbers he did last year. Gomez will show good glove in CF, but won't hit much. Escobar will be solid. Pitching wise, we'll be better than last year but probably about league average if not slightly above. Sometime in late June they'll either put Suppan on the DL or finally cut the strings and eat the remaining money on his contract. Parra and Bush take steps forward this year, as does Yo. Hoffman starts to show his age and doesn't convert at the save rate he previously did. Davis might get knocked around a bit as well at times. The team will hang around, but 83 wins won't be enough for a playoff spot.
  14. That is definitely too bad. The Turnbow memory I'll walk away with is how he always used to flip the bill of his cap up and down while walking around or between pitches. It was kind of a mindless thing that was a bit unique. That and how I felt bad for him when he initially hit a rough patch, it was obvious he was pressing, and yet he kept getting put into the same high leverage situations which led to more failures and a loss of confidence.
  15. The CC bobblehead is pretty awesome. They captured him very well. That pose reminds me of Bill's yells of "Yes!" in the background of the telecast. The Cooper bobblehead is cool looking, the others are pretty meh, but a bobblehead is a bobblehead.
  16. I figured he might be in the game as a guy not on the 40-man since he has big league experience. Maybe they just excluded a bunch of people who sat out last year, which would explain why Capuano is nowhere to be found since he's not on the 40-man, either. I actually didn't mind Parra being listed as a RP. JJ, there are roster updates to download which typically come out once a week or so. I wouldn't anticipate any big changes until the regular season starts and 25-man rosters are finalized. I've been spending some time modifying the base roster and assigning batting music, which is an awesome feature but time consuming.
  17. I bought The Show and played my first exhibition game last night. The game looks good aesthetically. They didn't remove the ivy from the back wall at Miller Park, but by the 7th inning or so the sun is shining off of it. The shadows are pretty realistic for a day game. I found picking up the ball was a bit easier than in 09, but this is my first season with an HD TV, so that might have something to do with it, too. I struggled a bit more with pitching, but I could just be out of practice. I like the fact you can custom build team sounds this year instead of giving every player a home run song. Plus you can build in common music for strike outs, etc. Random player comments: Gamel kind of got hosed on his ratings. I laughed when I saw they gave him epic plate discipline but zero plate vision. Counsell actually has his "new" stance. I couldn't find Jim Edmonds in the game anywhere, and unless I glossed over him Capuano isn't there, either. Manny Parra is listed as a reliever.
  18. I ended up getting through just a few minutes ago. I've found going out and back in was the best way to do it. I was amused to note Bernie's Terrace is already gone for CC bobblehead day. Not surprising.
  19. I logged on this morning to order a few single game tickets and keep receiving a "We're sorry, we were unable to process your request due to high transaction volumes. Please try to submit your request again" message. Did anyone else run into this? Thankfully for me I already have a 20-pack so if I don't get the two other games it isn't a big deal to me.
  20. I was excited to read about all of the FSWI Brewers games being in HD. I was a bit concerned as many of the Bucks games are not in HD and I know many games weren't in HD last year. HD baseball is great and I was slightly dreading having to watch SD baseball since I got a taste of HD baseball through the playoffs last year when I finally got my HDTV.
  21. I think it is pretty cool Braun participated in something like this. Participating in a HR derby with a bunch of college kids was probably no different than taking some BP hacks or working in a cage somewhere for him. The risk of injury is essentially the same as an every day activity the Brewers would green light him to partake in. It isn't like he was off playing sand football risking blowing out his entire knee a la Robert Edwards.
  22. Having so many NRI players doesn't bother me much. It likely won't take away any playing time, as instead of that playing time going to AAAA guys and other guys they bring over from minor league camp, now that PT will go to these NRI players. With 30 some spring training games, B-squad games, side sessions, and all of the other things that go on in spring training the more bodies the merrier. As far as pitchers, most of the guys we'll be relying on to start the year are veterans who know what they need to do in order to rev up for the season. Even the young guys like Parra and Yo will be watched closely, but I'm sure they'll get their time in as well.
  23. This final season is going to be awesome. It will be very interesting to see how it all plays out. The best part about Lost is being able to form different theories and see if they play out or not as the series goes on.
  24. I didn't come across the 82 trophy, but hopefully someone can help you out with that, Invader. I checked out of On Deck pretty early. Getting into the event was pretty orderly. At each stage they had stations for the different players who would be signing there. Within the first 20 minutes of doors opening the lines for Yount and Braun had been capped at stage one. On my way to get Yo I stopped by the Brewers charities rummage sale table to see if anything interesting was there. They had a ton of nesting dolls and Jason Kendall bobbleheads. There was a random Damian Miller SGA too. I ended up snagging a Bill Hall for $2 when some girl put it back. They had a bunch of game used/cracked bats, programs, jerseys, and other random accessories as well. I jumped into Yo's line which was dwarfed by those of Yount and Braun. Yo actually started signing at 10:30am even though he wasn't scheduled to start signing until 11am. There were a lot of different vendors, many of whom had some decent deals on SGA bobbleheads. One guy was selling bobbleheads for $15 each while those around him were selling them for $7-8. I had to chuckle at that. Other than that, the story of the day was lines, lots of lines. It was a good time though. It will be interesting to hear what some people walked away with!
  25. I arrived at 8am and am on the second floor. By 8:45 it was packed. I hope everyone enjoys the event today.
