  1. davego, I initially figured we may consider that, but then I thought of how McClung is more of a power pitcher who can get a little wild at times, so I figured that as we'd already walked in one run in the game Macha probably wouldn't load the bases again and risk that.
  2. If nothing else, this game really showed the weakness that is the Brewers bullpen. Other than Coffey and DiFelice, no one else has been dependable. I tend to lean towards the "keep Stetter in a LOOGY role" crowd. There is a lot of good to take away from the game, though. It was nice to see Bush bounce back from the tough start to the game. Great to see Braun turn on a pitch inside and hit it out. Coffey continues to impress. This definitely isn't a 3-7 caliber team, but until the bullpen shakes itself out they may keep losing games late.
  3. While it is only one run, a walk to Ramon Castro really hurts there. It would have been nice to get out of that with only one run scoring.
  4. I am slightly frustrated, yet I'm not angry, or upset, or even panicking. I am not sure what is wrong with me http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif. It is looking like a BB-RBI, Series.
  5. dlk, Mike Stanton is looking for a job. He has experience balking in the winning run. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. Maybe it is the fact we made the playoffs last year, or maybe it is the fact I expected our pitching staff to not be so hot, but I'm not getting all that frustrated yet. I have faith these things will work themselves out.
  7. I suppose that is what Cubs fans refer to as the "fake rally." It is typical for a Brewers-Reds game, though. I get the feeling this game will end 10-9 in someone's favor.
  8. I thought it was funny that highlight package was totally owned by US Cellular. I did see the Doorman made it into the package, though. They must have changed a bunch of the songs over the weekend because for Opening Day Braun still had "Go Getta" and Weeks still had Twista.
  9. Hart has the opposite field power approach working this year! Nice!
  10. Thanks Pedro for being awesome! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif PM sent as well.
  11. There you go, Jason. The first hit is sometimes the hardest to get, lol.
  12. I think 5 games is way too small of a sample size to evaluate what Macha will do and what Macha won't do at this point. It seems like he is still feeling out the roster of players he has and what will be the best situations to put them in. I think for the most part he has done about as well as he can with the guys he has. Coffey seems to be the guy who has stepped up as the fireman of the bullpen and I'm guessing Macha will use him as such until he proves otherwise. I think as the season unfolds we will see what Macha's true character holds and whether he is any better or worse than Yost.
  13. That Cubs fan falling over the railing was pretty funny. The Brewers are set up to get at least one here, lets hope they can capitalize.

  15. Agreed with Series, at least a third of the teams in baseball celebrate with the outfielders jump high fiving, it isn't as much of a signature to the Brewers as the untuck is. Marmol's control on his slider is unreal. He won't be a fun guy to face for the next however many years he is in Chicago.
  16. Great pick by Prince, terrible call by the umpire. DiFelice got the ground ball he needed, now he has to get a third out.
  17. While I am pretty sure Bush is about out of gas, DiFelice is probably a much easier pitcher to get at least a sacrifice fly off of at this point. Bush got a big strikeout there though so maybe Macha is on to something.
  18. Bradley made a pretty poor throw back into the infield so Hart probably could have scored, but had already been held up by that time. I see Dave Bush is back to a regular groomed beard instead of the beastly beard he was growing, lol.
  19. Regarding the crowd antics, there were a fair amount of drunk people (including the two girls sitting next to me who decided to finally show up in the fourth inning), but there weren't too many fracases I saw. A few Brewers fans and a Cubs fan in 419 or 420 were thrown out for throwing peanuts and other random stuff at each other, but other than that most everyone behaved themselves in the general area of 418 where I was sitting. Compared to all of the horror stories I heard it wasn't bad at all. There was a dude in the concourse who was so drunk he totally biffed it walking along and clapping.
  20. This was definitely a fun home opener to be at. The crowd was pretty into the game until McClung gave up the HR to Hill. That killed a lot of the crowd's energy until the 7th when the Brewers tried to rally. The split of Brewers/Cubs fans wasn't as even as I'd expected, it seemed to be overwhelmingly Brewers fans. After the Cubs pinch hit for Marmol I felt more comfortable about our chances to come back, even though Kendall-Duffy-Weeks didn't look like a recipe for success on paper. From where I was sitting it looked like Weeks was going to be out easily at home, but he made a great slide. I love how Telly Hughes referred to Gregg as one of the most feared closers in the game. That made me chuckle.
  21. I will be leaving work shortly and heading over to the stadium for the game. It should be a great time and an exciting game. I'm guessing the crowd will probably be 50/50 based on all of the tickets I saw on eBay, Stub Hub, craigslist, etc. I know many people scalped their tickets or extra tickets to Cubs fans to make money and subsidize their other Brewers games this year. Hopefully Looper can pitch well and the offense can get something done against Harden. Enjoy the game, everyone!
  22. This is awesome, as always Pedro! Thank you for your generosity! I'd like to go in for the Carlos Lee bobblehead. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. Craig Counsell's new batting stance really weirds me out after seeing him with his other stance for so long. That said, he smoked that foul ball harder than I've ever seen Counsell hit a ball, ever.
  24. I will be at work in the basement attempting to get as much radio reception as humanly possible. Oh competitive baseball, how I have missed you. Let's hope the rain holds off, or at worst pushes the game back long enough for me to get home to watch it, lol.
  25. at SF - 1-2 Chi - 1-2 Cin - 2-1 at NY- 1-2 at Phi - 0-3 at Hou - 2-1 Pit - 3-0 AZ- 1-0 I'll go with an even .500, 11-11 heading into May. The pitching will struggle early and probably blow some late leads without Hoffman in the bullpen, but we'll start to see the team come together by the end of the month and right the ship.
