  1. Pat Burrell is 0-5 with 5 K in tonight's game.
  2. Mike Gonzalez just served up a 2 out HR to Ryan Howard, Phillies back on top 8-7.
  3. Hey a solo home run! Wait, that was a 2 run shot!
  4. I would like to thank Ned for his contributions to this organization. Where we were after the Lopes/Royster era, Yost was the right type of guy to hire. He's hard nosed, never gives up on his players, and is loyal to a fault. Unfortunately, those qualities aren't good qualities for a team trying to contend, because ultimately a coach has to make tough decisions and sometimes hurt feelings if people aren't getting the job done. Ned never really could bring himself to do all the things that were best for the team instead of what was best for each individual player. If he could, we never would have seen Kevin Mench hit against Ryan Dempster in Chicago. We never would have seen Eric Gagné relieve CC Sabathia a few weeks ago. We wouldn't have been subjected to as many Turnbow meltdowns, Bill Hall strikeouts vs. RHP, and we most assuredly never would have seen Brian Shouse walk Ryan Howard to pitch to Pat Burrell. I do wish Ned the best, but I think this is the right thing for the team.
  5. http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/01hI8415hX9c1/340x.jpg I think the body language says it all.
  6. This isn't a vent, but I just realized if the Cubs win tomorrow and sweep us in Chicago, we will be there for the Cubs celebration of winning the NL Central. That would be the epitome of suck.
  7. I'm glad Ryan Braun will be a Brewer for the foreseeable future. He's a very good player and a stand up man. He never shies away from telling the truth, no matter how it may make him look or who he may out by telling it like it is.
  8. I think the Zambrano no-hitter added some hilarity to it. We've looked awful all month and were just swept right out of the lead in the Wild Card, and on the same night our biggest rival and one of the most hated pitchers by Brewers fans throws a no hitter in our ballpark and is celebrating surrounded by 20,000 Cubs fans. That toxic combination of despair and fate does not meet often.
  9. Seeing the Cubs celebrate on our home field is a fitting end to this terrible day of baseball.
  10. http://legacy.poynter.org/centerpiece/images/dyson.jpg So close, yet so far.
  11. Suppan hasn't been great lately, but this September Swoon is on every man in that clubhouse and in this organization, all the way from Doug Melvin as he put together this atrocious bullpen, to the 36th man on the roster. Nobody is getting it done. Win as a team, lose as a team.
  12. Dave looks good so far, hopefully he can keep it up for a solid 7 or 8 today.
  13. You know it's all the same, another time and place, repeating history and you're getting sick of it But I believe in whatever you do, and I'll do anything to see it through because these things will change By the way, Ryan Braun says this is a must win game, so it must be big boy time!
  14. Both! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'm guessing the games still get 10-15K attendance.
  15. Press Release from the Cubs website. I don't like the last game being played if necessary on the 29th in Houston, but I hope the Cubs can come up here with the home field advantage and take 2 from the Astros, that would really take the heat off of us a bit.
  16. Todd Coffey looked good in his Brewers debut. He kept the ball down and got some ground balls. We also can finally say a game is a must-win game, because Ryan Braun said so about game one of the DH tomorrow: "The first game is a must-win for us," said leftfielder Ryan Braun, who snapped out of a prolonged power slump with a home run in the 7-3 loss to the Phillies.
  17. At this point I don't think we have a choice. Parra has become more erratic and hittable with each passing start since the ASB. The kid is going to be a very good pitcher, it just seems like he's running out of gas. We can't really afford to throw a guy out there with a 5.10 ERA since the ASB every 5th day at this point in the year.
  18. Kneecap Hall, Counsell, Lamb, Branyan, Dillon, Braun and Marcus Hanel, Tonya Harding style. I'm not saying Yost is wrong or right in his decisions, but since he has been like this since we hired him, I'm no longer surprised when Ned chooses a veteran over a young player.
  19. 3-9 in September, hooray. Dave, I hope you got your bad start of the month out of the way against the Mets because you're going at least 7 tomorrow whether you give up 2 runs or 12.
  20. Ned is never going to pinch hit for Kendall, period. He's too much of a "veteran" and "professional hitter" for Ned to do that to him. I've come to accept it instead of being frustrated by it. That was a nice inning by Coffey, he kept the ball down and should have had a 1-2-3 with no one on base if not for Hardy's error. At least he wouldn't have gotten booed at home, people like him too much.
  21. Hooray, DiFelice. You can pitch 2 innings!
  22. On the JS Blog in the game report it was said that the players union wants the neutral site to be Atlanta if the games have to be played outside of Houston.
  23. Carlos Villanueva really saved the bullpen today. McClung and Dillard can pitch again tomorrow, and I'd imagine we see Shouse and Coffey for an inning a piece here.
  24. We should really let some of the young guys play tomorrow. It could only help at this point.
  25. Well, I guess that really is how bad it has been that a guy with a .376 OPS doesn't seem horrible compared to his teammates, although Cameron's September numbers are woefully awful. Man, where have I been? I think I was basing my judgment on Cam's OPS of 1.200 in August, lol.
