  1. With Harts' performance tonight, he's already performed better than Bill Hall and Jeff Suppan did during their entire contracts.
  2. Not sure if this belongs on the Minor League forum, but I figure since we've seen Gamel and he'll be up later in the year, I'll put it here. If it needs to be moved, go ahead. Nothing surprising here. http://www.jsonline.com/newswatch/99720169.html
  3. I can't stand it when people run on the field. It's right up there with bringing a beach ball in. Why?? I agree these fans that go on the field should be dealt with severely. All they do is disrupt the game and make asses of themselves. I would love for a player to tackle a fan or something, but the problem with that is that you don't know what that person's motivation is. They may be trying to draw a player close to them to do them harm. Or if a player tackles them, who knows if the person has knife, needle, etc., on themselves. I say pepper spray and tase 'em all. Ban them from games.
  4. The Brewers have had 8 different closers since 2000, and a new one each year since 2006-Wickman, Leskanic, DeJean, Kolb, Turnbow, Cordero, Torres, Hoffman, and Axford. Granted, each one of these guys had varying amounts of success, but I am on board with not playing the guessing game of who the closer is going to be next year or the year after. Axford is cheap now and will be for a few more years. As someone else statee-unless he goes Turnbow on us-I think you definitely keep him.
  5. I don't know if I'm more excited to be able to listen to Uke or that I won't have to listen to Davey Nelson anymore.
  6. I'm going with: 1. Gallardo-It's all about pitching. A bonafide #1. 2. Braun 3. Lawrie 4. Escobar 5. Lucroy-Finally a catcher that can hit AND throw out some baserunners. 6. Fielder 7. Braddock-Future looks bright and again-pitching, pitching, pitching. 8. Hart 9. Axford-Looks like the Brewers may have a lights out closer for at least the next 6 years and at a GREAT price. No more closer auditions every other year. 10. Jeffress-Based on everything I've heard, if he has dealt with his issue, he's another top of the rotation pitcher that will be dominant.
  7. I'm just hoping when they activate Yo, that Gomez is the one to AAA, not Cain. Lets see what the kid can do.
  8. On occasion you'd think that Macha would understand that you have to back up your players on certain occasions. As tough as it might be for Macha to figure it out, this is one of those times. Earlier in the year when the whole Rapuano thing happened, Macha did nothing and lost respect in the clubhouse. If he doesn't do anything about this, it only backs reinforces that fact that he shouldn't be leading this team. Last night, Cox knew his pitcher was wrong, but he still went out and argued and got ejected because he backs up his players no matter what. How nice it must be to have a manager fighting for ya. This is one case where it would have been nice to still have Ned Yost.
  9. So will the inevitable retaliatory beaning happen right away in the first? Or will the Brewers wait till the end when the game may already be decided? I say 1st inning.
  10. Offensively, looks pretty good. Defensively, we may be throwing things at our TV's.
  11. Parra doesn't even come close to Gallardo yet. Parra is doing what he always does-pitches well for a small sample, then blows up. Lets see Parra be a little more consistent for a longer amount of time before we give him #2 of a 1-2 punch. As for what the Brewers are going to do, I'm glad I don't have Melvins job right now. Many big decisions coming up. IMO, I think the Brewers are sending Davis for another rehab start to see if someone will eliminate themselves and make the Brewers decision easier on who they need to move. I think Capuano is going to be gone. I like Cappy a lot and wish there was room for him, but everytime he pitches there's going to be that wondering if he'll stay healthy. Don't want to risk losing a good arm for one that's already had 2 Tommy Johns. As for the rest of the decisions, pay me Melvin's salary, and I'll try and rap my arms around those issues. In the meantime, I'll sit back and hope the Crew can put together a good run to get back into it.
  12. I read just the opposite yesterday, per the game notes from TH. That Uecker's progress had actually slowed down a bit and there was no timetable for his return. And when he does return, it'll probably only be for home games the rest of the year. I guess this just shows that who knows what's really gonna happen. The sooner he gets back, the better. http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/97036519.html
  13. A good Brewers bar around Milwaukee? That's kinda like asking if there are any concerts going on during Summerfest. If you're looking for a place around the stadium, Kelly's Bleachers is a good place. If you want to go downtown, the Water Street area has a plenty of great places to watch the game within a short distance.
  14. I don't know if I would classify Suppan as a cancer. Not playing well-yes. A cancer-no. I reserve the classification of a cancer as someone who tears apart team chemistry, is selfish, and is a complete jerk, ala Gary Sheffield for example. I'm as ready as the next guy to get rid of Suppan, but saying he's a cancer is a bit far. Who's fault is it that he's still on team? It's not his. If anyone of us was getting paid $12million a year to pitch, we'd take that money and run with it until they kicked us out as well. If you say you wouldn't, you're lying to yourself.
  15. Looks like Willis is going to the D'Backs. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/
  16. In 2008, I went to the 2nd game of the year at Miller Park and the Brewers won. They lost the next 10 games I went to that year. I stopped going in late July in order to stop jinxing the playoff run. What were the odds that I would be at 10 straight losses when they only lost 32 at home all year? This year, 0-3 so far.
  17. According to mlbtraderumors.com: Gallardo received a $30.1MM deal. The 2015 option is for $13MM with a $600K buyout, according to the AP. The deal is a bit loaded toward the front, with the free agent year costing only $11.25MM.
  18. I agree. I thought it was sometime in February, but I can't believe that the date hasn't been announced and it's not being promoted.
  19. Does anyone know about when the individual game tickets usually go on sale? (updated to reflect the date - hawing)
  20. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/69706672.html
  21. TH seems to think it's very good possibility that the Brewers will make a good push for Mulder, and why not? Give him a low contract with a ton of incentives. It's win-win for the Brewers.
  22. On May 25, the Brewers beat the Cardinals 1-0 in 10 innings to give them a 27-18 record. The team sprinted off the field not untucking their shirts, with Bill Hall leading the charge off the field. Since then, the Brewers are 34-47. What does this teach us? Not to mess with the baseball Gods, Or to just blame Bill Hall for the bad luck/injury-riddled season.
  23. I wouldn't mind seeing the Brewers take a gamble on him if Boston is pretty much paying most of his salary. What do the Brewers have to lose?
  24. On our way back from San Diego. Petco is a nice stadium. A great area to have a sports complex. Lots to do. That was a nice thing about San Diego, everything for the most part is a short walk or pretty close by taxi/tour bus. It would have been awesome to have gotten Miller Park in a downtown area like they do in San Diego, but then we wouldn't be able to tailgate. I'd rather have the tailgating option than the DT location. Learned lots of things about going to games out there as far as what to pack, where to eat, and where the cheapest beer is. All in all, a great trip and hopefully get to do it again.
