  1. So nice to see the Crew alone in first place, even if it's just for a few hours. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/
  2. Trevor Time may have passed Miller Time as my favorite nonexistent measurement of time!
  3. Do you think they bring him out for the 8th with only 97 pitches. I think I would do it and then pull him if he gives up a walk, a hit or warning track flyball. It would be nice to have a completely rested pen heading into the road trip.
  4. Gotta keep Bush in there for the next inning, right? Only 84 pitches so far. Edit: Yes, now get the bunt down.
  5. Johnson's out? That's weird. 82 pitches and he hit for himself in the top of the fifth.
  6. I realize that, they mentioned it as well, but that's how they phrased it as if they were reading it off a release. Regardless, Nelson looks like the odd man out.
  7. 540 am after show just reported that nelson was outrighted to AAA.
  8. Reading Melvin's comment this smells of either a trade, or *gulp* a suspension.
  9. Even with Ludwick in the lineup, I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't understand how he doesn't get walked more. There's no reason to tempt fate. Plus, nothing gets Busch Stadium rocking more than when Puljos is driving in runs. To me this will be one of the more interesting series to watch Macha how he handles pitching to Puljos and TLR's endless mind games.
  10. There is no question about that. Duncan is brutal.
  11. Just an FYI, the Metro transit organization had huge cutbacks this year and one of the cutbacks was the number of trains. I have not taken the mtero train to a game yet this year, but it;s my undertanding they were expecting longer waits/packed trains, etc. You may want to plan a little extra time just in case.
  12. If this report is correct, the earliest he joins the Brewers is June 1. Who knows what happens with the bench at that point. Maybe all the bench guys come around. Maybe someone gets injured. He's no more than an insurance policy. If he can't hack it in AAA, this could end up like the the Jeff Weaver experiment. The idea about releasing Nelson is pure speculation on Rosenthal's part. I do think there is something to say about having someone of his experience on the bench.
  13. Just to be clear, that was my point as well. Many people were all over Gabe Gross at this point last year and he broke out of it right before the trade and did well in Tampa. On the bright side, if the bench remains the glaring problem as we get to the All-Star break, I think that's a fairly easy issue to address via trade.
  14. I have a question that's not direct-tv related but came to mind because of this discussion regarding FS Wisconsin. I live in St. Louis and we have AT&T Uverse as a television option. They appear to offer FS-Wisconsin as part of their channel lineup. Now if I get the package that includes that channel, will I be able to watch the Brewers games on their or will they be blacked out all the time or just when they are opposite of the Cardinals? I would have assumed that they would be blacked out all the the time, but I'm confused now after reading this discussion. On direct-Tv can you get baseball games from other networks like FS Wisconsin from outside the area?
  15. I lived in St. Louis for three years. I actually moved here a weekend before the Cards clinched the division against the Brewers. My wife and i attended that game in our Brewers gear and everyone was cool. By the end of the next season, my wife and I began to be verbally harassed by fans and last year I was at two of the four-game sweep and realized that many Cards fans were exactly as bucks2281 describe them. Now, I can't go anywhere in the city in Brewers gear (at least bars) without someone telling me how disrespectful the untuckem this is and how cocky Braun and Hall are. I usually ask about Puljos' slow waltz to first and TLR's antics. They're response: "They've earned the right." It is old, and I'm sure that not only will the fans and their annoucers not let this go, the team won't either. I like Macha's measured, even-tempered attitude on the bench thus far. I hope he won't play into TLR's hands like in the Turnbow incident and tell the guys to play it cool (unlike the Villenueva-Puljos incident). I'd love to see the Brewers continue their dominance over the Red Birds, but as much as their lineup sans Puljos seems like a bunch slap hitters and no names, this is a pretty good team. They are very good at getting on base and have assembled a team that is well-suited for their stadium (it suprises a lot of people to learn that Busch typically ranks in the bottom third of park factor). Even without Carpenter, their pitching has gotten the job done so far this year - admittadly against a soft, home dominated schedule, but still. Don't be suprised to see the Cards exact some revenge for last year. Next weekend should definitley be a fun series to watch.
  16. From the JS gallery: http://www.jsonline.com/s...y&index=2&page=0
  17. It was fun watching the ump ring up the Cubbies that inning, but he is still a tool. What a game!
  18. I love you Ryan Braun. I love you more than you will ever know. Why Lou keeps throwing Heilmann out there in big spots, I don't understand. This guy is not good.
  19. Oh no, Soto instead. I mean, oh yeah, no match for Mitch. Let's. Score. Some. Runs. Please...
  20. No but he has pitched four of the last five days. Geez, Koye Hill again? Really? I hate this game.
  21. Is this ump joking? He's not even consistent during an at bat.
  22. He's obviously performed well in Tampa since the trade, but I would like to point out he was hitting .091 through his first 22 at bats last season.
  23. This kind of reminds me of the whole StarCaps thing from the NFL last year that popped both Williams DTs on the Vikings. Here's a link for folks who aren't NFL fans: http://www.profootballtalk.com/?s=starcaps But they went so far as to sue the NFL to continue play and overturn their suspension. I don't understand why Manny isn't putting up more of fight. This certainly throws cold water on the idea that A-Rod's hip injury was actually a suspension. Why wouldn't they have Manny do the same?
