  1. The funniest part of that was that it wasn't even Villy's first MLB start this year...he had that spot start in Detroit when Capuano was scratched. Whoops.
  2. I believe Yo has a total of 155 IP this year between Nashville and Milwaukee. Sadly, that probably means we can only get 3 or so more starts out of him if they stick to the limit of 175-180. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  3. I was never a huge Rivera fan, even when it looked like he was doing so well last year. I always kind of thought of him as a AAAA player, and it seemed to me last year that most of his HR and RBI came when the Crew was already losing by a large margin (I could be wrong on that...I don't have time to look at his splits right now). His defense isn't the greatest, either, but at least he shouldn't let every leadoff walk or single become a double like Estrada does.
  4. I think that the odds are pretty good that whoever becomes the next manager of the Brewers (be it next year or 5 years down the road) is going to get the same treatment that Yost is getting now. Every fanbase does this with their manager...you'd be hard-pressed to find a fanbase that is completely happy with their manager. There are Cubs fans who think that if Lou Piniella wasn't their manager, they'd be 10 games up in the division. The Brewers could hire the greatest manager who ever lived, and some people would still complain about him when it's the players that screwed up. To be fair, though, Ned doesn't seem to do a very good job of putting his players in favorable situations, but some of those decisions seem forced -- no one disagreed with putting Turnbow in to start the 8th, but he didn't get the job done...Yost had to scramble to try to get someone through the 8th inning, and Pence's L/R splits said that he'd be more likely to get a hit off Shouse than Aquino. That was a no-win situation, IMO.
  5. Damn...Loretta singles in Lee. Down 1-0.
  6. I'm getting a bad feeling that this game will be decided on the Token Solo Home Run Against Sheets. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  7. Wow...Sheets never picks guys off. Now that I've actually seen it, it's pretty awesome. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. I think it's safe to say every prospect struggles a little at one level or another...it's extremely rare for anyone to just plow through the minor league system like it's nothing (didn't Ken Griffey Jr. surge through the Seattle system in like a month?). Even Ryan Braun OPS'd .778 in Brevard County.
  9. To ensure good mojo for this afternoon's game, we need a picture of the opposing starting pitcher looking frustrated/distraught. Here's Mr. Oswalt: http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/sp/getty/be/fullj.getty-73396343sd005_houston_astro.jpg
  10. Bummer on the Weeks K...that was a hell of an at-bat.
  11. I can't get anything to work, either. I even tried clicking on other games and I kept getting the delay message. Right now I'm forced to use Gameday. Looks like Suppan's in a giving mood today.
  12. I fear what Gorzelanny will be able to do with the shadows creeping in all afternoon. Hopefully the Brewers can get to him early.
  13. Here's to hoping the Brewers knock the yellow and crooked teeth out of Gorzelanny's ugly mug tonight. Don't suck, Suppan (hey, it's worked his past couple starts)!
  14. First rookie in Red Sox history to throw a no-hitter. That's pretty incredible considering how long they've been around. It wasn't a cheap no-no, either..only 3 walks and 9 K's. Congrats to him; the Hughes/Buchholz rivalry in the future should be fun to watch in the AL East.
  15. Braun got under that one a bit too much. Looks like fly balls are really carrying so far tonight, though.
  16. STUPID SANCHEZ AND WILSON. Wilson almost couldn't get it out of the glove, but JJ hit it so hard that he had no chance of beating the throw down to first.
  17. WOW...absolutely incredible diving catch by Billy Hall on the warning track. Off the bat it looked like a routine fly ball to left center, but it kept carrying and Billy never lost track of it. Timed his dive perfectly and his face ended up pretty close to the wall. Crowd gives him a standing O as they jog into the dugout.
  18. Bush doesn't have his good stuff so far tonight. He's not getting squeezed that much; he's just barely missing his spots.
  19. Broken bat ball into the left field corner...Mench took a pretty crappy angle to the ball, but wouldn't have kept a run from scoring anyway.
  20. Walks turn into doubles when Johnny Estrada is your catcher. Ugh.
  21. MLB.TV has video for tonight's game with Ueck and JP doing the announcing. Definitely cool, even if there are no on-screen graphics during the game.
  22. Go Brewers! Hopefully they don't stink against Youman this time around.
  23. I found it on the official "Actober" website by searching for "brewers": http://www.actober.com/Search.aspx?search=brewers. The video is called "Dark Horse Brewers".
  24. Estrada's never really been the same ever since Darin Erstad's nasty collision with him at home plate a few years ago. That was one of the worst collisions I've ever seen at home plate, and I remember there being genuine concern for Estrada's health after that hit. Regardless, his offensive numbers this year have been a disappointment, but I guess we should've expected a bit of a drop with him moving out of Chase Field and into a more neutral hitting ballpark like MP.
  25. Piniella mentioned the "sort-of 6-man rotation" in his postgame press conference. It sounds like they'll only start Trachsel if it's a good matchup or if someone needs a day off. Lou said they haven't set out a schedule for him yet (he said he'd figure all that out once he gets to the park tomorrow), but they're anticipating his first start to be during the Dodgers series.
