  1. I recently stumbled across a blog post on password security shortly after reading this thread, and thought it might make a good read for those who have been recently victimized or those who want to take some preemptive action: http://lifehacker.com/550...hack-your-weak-passwords The author clues us in on what hackers (especially those looking for bank info) try to do, and how you can create passwords that would take forever to crack. I thought it was a good read.
  2. 3 vs COL: 1-2 3 vs STL: 1-2 3 @ CHC: 1-2 3 @ WSH: 2-1 3 @ PIT: 2-1 3 vs CHC: 2-1 3 vs PIT: 2-1 2 @ SD: 2-0 13-10...rough start, strong finish. Tiebreaker: (4+3+5) 12
  3. For those who weren't able to listen live, WSSP already has the file posted online. They start by talking about the rotation, but then go on to touch on some other subjects, including the starting outfield: http://wssp.radiotown.com...ig_Show/033010melvin.mp3
  4. Drew Olsen also chimes in: Could be a variety of things at this point. I wonder if they're going to wait until after the game against the Angels to announce something, or if it's more imminent. Edit: Merged this with the current rotation thread, as the topic was already being discussed.
  5. 6 Final Four appearances in 12 years for Izzo is incredible. I always want to hate Michigan State, but I have so much respect for Izzo that it's hard to do. Congrats to them.
  6. Khali's health always seems to be off-and-on due to his chronic knee problems. IIRC, he's having the same problems Andre the Giant had, with his legs not being able to support his body weight very well. It's why he's always typically walked "stiff-legged" (something that's been lampooned a few times). But yeah, he's mostly useless, too. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Wasn't able to catch the event on TV, but I was able to find some of the clips on YouTube. I liked the special touch of DiBiase's speech ending with money being dumped on the audience from the rafters, and I will always love that laugh. He has one of my favorite themes of all time.
  7. Can't say I'm too happy that the idea of the Brewers releasing him because his wife died a year ago is seeping into the "mainstream" media. Even if the stories emphasize that it's just his side of the story (like the ESPN Boston article notes), it can't help the organization's perception among players. With that said, I wish him luck. Perhaps 804Sox can let us know if he has a realistic chance of making the team in the last week of camp?
  8. I went with 85 wins last year, and see no reason to change. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'll add that I think Randy Wolf and Doug Davis will be solid starters, Manny Parra will have a season ERA under 5, and Todd Coffey will become the fastest man in the world.
  9. Words cannot describe how happy I am that Kentucky went down. It's not like they'd still be recognized as a Final Four team in a few years anyway, given Calipari's track record, but I'm definitely happy for the fans of West Virginia.
  10. For those that love Gus, I give you the Gus Johnson soundboard: http://gusjohnsongetsbuckets.com/
  11. Wake was a one-man team, and once Aminu went to the bench with foul trouble they were doomed. But yeah, Kentucky is scary good when they want to be. Here's to hoping the easy win tonight lulls them into a false sense of security next weekend. ...not that I'm assuming Wisconsin wins. Cornell could just as easily give the Wildcats fits, too.
  12. UNI over KU is the biggest upset I can remember since George Mason over UConn the year they made their Final Four run...incredible. And now BYU jumps out to a 7-0 lead over Kansas State. We may not be done with the upsets yet tonight.
  13. Witrado writing that Gamel was screwing himself is pretty unacceptable, blog post or not. He's being paid to cover this team professionally -- he's not supposed to write the same way a fan ranting about him would. The post has been edited now, apparently, but if we ever wanted proof that these JSOnline posts weren't edited before going up, I think we have it.
  14. Not really a surprise, since the Brewers are cutting down their pitching staff with the starters beginning to work longer outings. I never really thought he had a future with the team, anyway, but I still hope he has the chance to catch on somewhere else.
  15. Huge blow early for a team that had high hopes for this season. I wonder who closes for them now? Rauch?
  16. At this point it's probably just to get him as many Spring Training at bats as possible. He needs the most work, so he might as well hit at the top of the lineup.I like that logic, too, and certainly hope that's what Macha's doing (or at least giving Gomez the opportunity to play himself out of the role). It's still early, though, so I'm sure we'll see things change once we get later in the month.
  17. That's a pretty strong statement about a guy who's 25 years old. Jenkins must have been climbing for days to get up on a soapbox that big...jeez.
  18. The Brewers would retaliate by hitting the Giants' biggest power threat, but hitting Edgar Renteria just doesn't feel the same.
  19. Kentucky's like every other team Calipari has coached the past few years: they're ridiculously talented, but they never fail to play down to their competition. I would give Kansas the edge over Kentucky as the toughest projected #1 seed, but at the same time Syracuse is ridiculously hot right now.
  20. The crazy thing is he'll still be a free agent when he's 28. Great deal for the Diamondbacks, locking him up while he's starting to hit his stride. I'm sure with all the worries about paying off that deferred money owed to the 2001 team that there were some concerns this wouldn't be possible.
  21. Unless the glasses mean he'll stop chasing that slider low and away, I don't know how much it'll help. I'm sure the media will try to make a connection if he gets off to a hot start, though, if only because there won't be much else to talk about that early in the season.
  22. Looking at the Big Ten standings, am I wrong in assuming if Ohio State beats Illinois tonight, they'll clinch the #1 seed in the Big Ten tournament? It's their last game of the regular season, they split their two games with Purdue and beat Michigan State in their only meeting, but I'm not sure on tiebreakers after head-to-head results.
  23. Maybe that's why he took the team to arby -- he needed the extra cash to finance the new ink. I'm digging the vintage Doug Davis facial hair, but I'm disappointed in the lack of Dave Bush's Beard.
  24. If Soto's even half as good as he was in 2008, he'll be a very good piece of that offense. I feel like it all really depends on the health of Aramis -- if he stays healthy the whole year, they're at worst an average offense with a pretty solid pitching staff compared to the rest of the division. I don't know how much better they are than the 83 wins they posted last year, but I think they're far from pushovers, even if their stars are starting to decline. Just like most of the division, I could realistically see them finishing with anywhere between something like 76 and 84 wins.
  25. Two year extension, according to reports. I think Keith Law said it best when he tweeted: I guess it makes sense just to avoid the possibility of him being seen as a lame duck GM, but he hasn't done much to inspire confidence in the future of that club.
