  1. One more game, Texas Rangers. One more game.
  2. Boy, that interfering Yankee fan looks like a full-grade tool. Gah, I hate the Yankees.
  3. I won an autographed Kobe Bryant Lakers jersey in a pack of Upper Deck trading cards when I was a kid. I loathe the Lakers, but I absolutely love that jersey.
  4. Good topic. Angels Dodgers A's Marlins Nationals
  5. FWIW, I heard on 670 in Chicago that Brenly was close to a deal with the Brewers -- probably about an hour ago. I don't know where they got their information, but I did hear it.
  6. There are plenty of related offenses that are illegal, such as walking down the street (as opposed to walking on the sidewalk), or not yielding the right of way to traffic at controlled intersections i.e. walking against a red light which causes traffic to have to stop for you. But simply "jaywalking" isn't a violation. Actually, IIRC, the MPD conducted a "jaywalking sting" at Marquette last semester after a student got hit by a car.
  7. I've been to: Miller Park County Stadium 3 Com/Monster/Candlestick Tropicana Land Shark/Dolphins/Joe Robbie/Pro Player Nationals Park Old Yankees Fenway Shea RFK Rogers Centre PNC Cinergy Field Wrigley Comerica Park Metrodome New Busch I love New Busch. IMO, it's an absolutely beautiful park, both inside and outside. I love Comerica, too. I found Nationals Park to be very bland. There's nothing impressive from any standpoint. It's also in a weird part of town.
  8. I understand Tampa Bay and the Yankees. We were due to play both of them at the respective sites -- but...we were just at Fenway. I'm most irritated that the Boston and NY Yankees series are two weeks apart. I wanted to take a road trip to go to both series. Awesome, I have always wanted to see Fenway Park and have never seen the Brewers on the road. Seems like I can kill two birds with one stone. I was at the 2008 Boston series and I was shocked by the number of Brewers fans at the first two games. Call me crazy, but I think there were several thousands at each game. We even got a couple of chants going. I want to go back, but seeing the new Yankee Stadium is a bigger priority next season.
  9. I don't know where in Maine Rogers is from, but you can drive from Boston to Kittery, Maine in about an hour. I imagine there are many, many knowledgeable Red Sox fans from Maine.
  10. Have Bob Davidson/Yadier Molina ever been to a college sporting event? An NFL game? And, I agree with Nottso -- the homophobic slant is only one modality of interpretation. I have a strong feeling that Froemming was defending another incompetent member of their special "fraternity." Yuck. I care way too much about this issue.
  11. The more I read, the more justified I believe his ticket was. It really makes me wonder why the ushering staff didn't act. Nevertheless, Davidson set a bad precedent and is still a complete jerk. I also read that Davidson said "he wanted to wait between innings to be discreet, however he thought Molina was going to escalate the situation". As a fan at this game, I would have loved to see this. But wait, I thought Molina was SUCH a classy guy? And, agreed BuC, I think what the fan said was relatively benign.
  12. Umpires do in fact have the authority to eject fans-- that is beyond debate. I don't think it is stated in the rules that they have the authority to eject spectators, but they have done it anyways. My point is that tethering this guy to a bench and ticketing him is a tad severe if Bob Davidson is the only person who thinks he did something wrong. I disagree. If I am an ump in charge of a MLB game, I don't have the time to baby-sit or dink around with ushers. If a fan is impacting play, they are gone. If what the fan said was truly abhorrent to Davidson, he could have discreetly notified an usher between innings. But no, Davidson had to grandstand. So now the County Sheriff Deputies just take their orders from baseball umpires? This is pretty much what bothers me most. If the guy was making homophobic slurs, then yes, he should be ejected. Nobody wants to hear that. But, I'm troubled that Davidson is the sole reason this guy was ticketed. I don't know ... I'm thinking out loud, but this struck me as a really interesting legal conundrum.
  13. I don't think he'd have much of a case against MLB. The Brewers and the Milwaukee Police took action against the fan because of Bob Davidson's directive. I'm thinking, though, if the fan had not been given a warning by the cops/ushers and wasn't ticking off fellow fans, his ticket is completely unwarranted. I'm reading Bleacher Report right now, and it says that umpires, by rule, have no right to eject fans who have not entered the playing field. If it's true that this guy was not in violation of the Code of Conduct, then I think he really has a case here.
  14. I don't think the ejected fan deserved a disorderly conduct ticket. If the ushering staff and police, who enforce the MP Code of Conduct, didn't deem his behavior worthy of ejection, why should he receive a ticket? Just because Bob Davidson thinks so? I hope this guy contacts his lawyer about fighting the ticket.
  15. I think I'll turn in my fan card if they retire #51.
  16. These are frowned upon by MLB and the NBA, as it can create a bit of "point-fixing". I think the NBA has banned them, but all leagues hate them. No. If the Bucks score 100, you can get a free Quarter Pounder/Big Mac/Frappe from McDonald's. In Toronto, you get a free slice at Pizza Pizza if the Raptors score 100. I'm pretty sure a lot of NBA teams do this type of promotion. I will say -- I do appreciate the $15 off Valvoline coupons. Everything else -- especially the $10 off a Frontier flight -- is useless to me.
  17. Yankees 3, Rangers 1 Rays 3, Twins 1 Padres 3, Braves 1 Reds 3, Phillies 2 Rays 4, Yankees 3 (epic series) Padres 4, Reds 2 Rays 4, Padres 2 (lowest World Series ratings ever)
  18. The Bengals flirted with blackouts last year and all indications point to the same this year. They even had trouble selling playoff tickets. Their preseason game against Philadelphia was blacked out. I think it's a Cincinnati-wide thing.
  19. Cool bobblehead, but I must vent. As a Brewer fan, I'm embarassed that the Brewers distributed a bobblehead of the New York Yankees star pitcher today. If you want to do that, wait until he retires.
  20. If I were outside at 2:30 am in that neighborhood, I'd keep my head on a swivel -- I certainly wouldn't wear a bunch of jewelry. I'm glad nobody got seriously hurt, but he/they likely made themselves easy targets. Do you have to go to work tomorrow? Yo probably doesn't have to be to MP until the afternoon. Like a lot of younger people, I'm sure he's "wired" to stay up later and wake up later.
  21. Ben Folds Five: The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner Jack's Mannequin: Everything in Transit Kanye West: Graduation Goo Goo Dolls: Dizzy Up The Girl Jukebox the Ghost: Let Live and Let Ghosts
  22. I stayed at the same Boston hotel as the Brewers in 2008. I met Ed Sedar, Bill Schroeder, Ryan Braun and Tony Gwynn Jr. at the hotel bar after the Friday night game was PPD -- TGJ even bought a round of drinks for a group of traveling Brewers fans. I chatted with Corey Hart in the Dunkin Donuts Line the next morning. I met Ben Sheets at the Brookfield Square Boston Store many years ago -- he seems like an awesome guy.
  23. 1. Cardinals 2. Cubs 3. Yankees 4. Red Sox
  24. Gas station coffee. It's no different from a cup of hot water.
  25. Danzig, I've been going mid-week in late August for the past few years and the crowds have been sparse. I've gotten on the best rides multiple times in a single day.
