  1. You really can't criticize somebody for expecting a Sheets DL stint. He's left 2 games early this season (groin, blisters), and in 2005 and 2006, he had a few stints on the DL. No one's denying that Ben is talented, but you have to feel frustrated that he went down at a time when the Cubs have forgotten how to lose and Capuano has forgotten how to pitch. Yes, this injury has nothing to do with conditioning and it happens to pitchers, but Sheets has missed his fair share of starts during his career, and I don't think anybody really be surprised by this latest development.
  2. unless something huge changes, the Cubs would have home field advantage either way, hate to say it, but it's the truth. I think there's a day in late September where coins are flipped to decide homefield for potential playoff games. Last year, IIRC, this happened between the Astros and the Phillies, and the Astros and the Cards. That being said, I never ever want to experience a one-game playoff involving the Brewers. That's way too much pressure for me to handle. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. I'm going to the game tomorrow. I have a bad feeling it's going to be humid and long with lots of baserunners. If Jeff Suppan ever needed a stellar outing (besides Game 7 last year), tomorrow is the day. Regarding tonight, the win is nice, but I'm praying there's no ligament damage. Hopefully Sheets can be back within a week or so because, with CHC on our tails, the Brewers cannot afford to lose their ace.
  4. I was at the game tonight, unfortunately. Needless to say, the ball was flying out of the place. -We're truly in a pennant race. It's only going to get more nerveracking everyday. It's either going to end in tears or jubilation--hopefully the Wild Card spot will be open, too. -Ryan Braun will be in the Hall of Fame. He's unbelieveable.
  5. Looks like the Cubs are going to get a win. Gotta get a win, Brewers. 3.5 games is toooo close for me.
  6. Mike Wilbon on PTI. He's a Cubs fan. A few weeks ago he said the Cubs were total garbage and the Brewers were going to run away with the division. Typical Cubs fan, typical ESPN.
  7. This is the first and only time I'll be cheering for Alfonso, or any Cub, for that matter.
  8. Looks like we'll be having Saturday-Sunday-Monday night World Series baseball at Miller Park.
  9. Wow--NL pitchers have not recorded a strikeout in this game. Edit: Sizemore Ks.
  10. Well, that was an awkward silence.
  11. I'd like to see J.J. get an AB against Verlander and get a hit http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif .
  12. CoCo, just get through this unscathed.
  13. Speaking of that brawl, when is Derrek Lee going to serve his suspension? It's almost been a month.
  14. Fielder vs. Beckett Come on, Prince!
  15. Dusty Baker, Joe Morgan, and Chris Berman. It's like a perfect storm of people I can't stand. If you add Tim McCarver to the mix, the All-Star festivities are filled with a number of truly annoying broadcasters.
  16. A three-hour home run derby. That's simply waaay too long.
  17. Berman said the Brewers were a "surprising team." Weren't we all predicting that 2007 would likely bring a NL Central title? Didn't a whole bunch of pundits predict MIL to win the division? I can't stand Berman. Thankfully, he won't be doing any LDS games this year.
  18. As the seasons continues, I would expect increased intensity and frustration in the vent thread. If the Brewers make it to the World Series, maybe we could see a 140-150 page vent thread?
  19. I think Bonds was trying to put Gammons in a tight/awkward situation when Gammons asked about the "fan reaction" on the road and Bonds responded with "what fan reaction?" Barry, remember your three days in Milwaukee?
  20. A couple of weeks ago, Belling hinted that the Cubs would win the division. He's a genuine pessimist when it comes to sports and his insight stems from emotion, not logic.
  21. I would have liked to see Soriano compete in the derby. Yeah, I know he's a Cub, but I love his swing, and seeing it in the derby would be a thing of beauty.
  22. Colorado has shown flashes of dominance at home, but, like the Brewers, have played poorly on the road. I like our chances on this homestand--Arizona isn't that great, and we swept SF just a couple of weeks ago.
  23. 10 games at home, followed by 4 games in Cincinnati will hopefully cure some of our ailes.
  24. Annnnd the Cubs lose. Makes this loss a bit easier to swallow.
  25. I wonder if Gwynn will ever hit a HR at the MLB level. Maybe even a cheap one?
