  1. The Brewers have not swept a road series in three years. What the heck is it with this team and the road!?!
  2. I'm no genius, but I'd think you'd have to be aware that Cappy might be prone to a big inning after running the bases in 100 degree heat.
  3. That always happens after a mound visit. UGH
  4. Ugh, way to go Larry Young. I hope you get a pay cut.
  5. Cubs and Pirates tied at 1-1. Edit: 3-1 Pirates! Big Z is laboring.
  6. Wow, that ball was dangerously close to hitting his face.
  7. I'm looking forward to the All-Star break as a 4-day reprieve from worrying about losing ground in the standings. Is something wrong with me? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. 3. A few days ago, I stopped into a Wausau vet to buy dog food. (This is not my regular vet.) When I was getting the stuff into my car, a couple walked out, and the man was carrying a rather large dog. It took me a minute to realize that the dog was dead. There's got to be something more dignified than carrying the animal out the front door, across the front parking lot, and down the sidewalk to the car Wow, that's a really sad story. I know if I was in your position, that image would haunt me a for a long time. But that's probably just the dog-lover in me speaking.
  9. Freddy Sanchez with a HR to give PIT a 3-2 lead.
  10. Ugh, the Cubs and Pirates are tied at 2.
  11. I'll also throw my hat in the ring, Pedro.
  12. You'd have to think LaRoche will go 1-12 against the Cubs with like 6 Ks.
  13. It's 21, according to Yahoo! gameday. Edit: We have a chance to win this thing, now!
  14. This injury doesn't sound overly serious, but we all remember what happened to J.J. last season. Hopefully our luck this season is brighter.
  15. Ugh, Ned may regret using Villanueva for 4 innings last night.
  16. I would look for the game on Sunday, August 5 against Philly to be moved to Sunday night. The Mets-Cubs play that weekend, too, but both of those teams are nearing the limit for appearing on ESPN/FOX. That's Chris Capuano bobblehead day, so I'd expect a ton of complaining from ticketholders http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. Random question: How many AB's does a player need to be able to win the "batting crown"? I keep looking at stats to see who has the highest BA in the league and Braun is never on the lists. At what point does he get added? I may be incorrect, but I believe it's 504 ABs. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that # sounds right to me.
  18. That box score is intriguing. The Brewers put up a 4-spot in the first and Doug is pulled after two batters in the 2nd? I don't remember DD being hurt in '04, but it certainly doesn't look like he was being rocked. DD left the game in the second because he was hit by a line drive and thought his arm had been fractured. Luckily, he was fine and the Brewers long losing streak was snapped. sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap?gid=240831108
  19. I don't think the Vent Thread was utilized today. I guess we're all learning how to handle the ups and downs of following a good, playoff-caliber baseball team more effectively three months into the season.
  20. Hmm...this is interesting. Sheets pitched both Saturday games in which the Brewers won by 9 runs, and the following four game series both will have taken place in the state of Pennsylvania.
  21. I think the Florida Marlins wore their black alternates for every road game during the '03 playoffs.
  22. Good for Pirates fans. If we, as Brewer fans, had endured 67 win seasons in '05 and '06, we might be planning a walk-out on brewerfan.net as we speak. They should protest outside of PNC Park, ala the "Millen Man March" in Detroit.
  23. I really, really hope that today was just one more game on a roller-coaster ride during a very "special" season. I hope it's not a sign of things to come.
