  1. MLB Pitcher is a generous headline.
  2. Salary and title and "prestige."
  3. The problem is the arbitration system is still archaic. You can have a salary reduction of more than 20% and a reduction in salary pretty much never happens. Jimmy Nelson will probably make the same amount of money next year as he did this year if not slightly more despite not pitching in over a year. And they don't look at just the previous year and they don't really look at things like OBP. They see an average of 26 homers and 93 RBIs the last 3 years. Also working against the Brewers is him making $8.5 million last year. Like I said there is almost never a reduction in salary so the minimum we could offer is $8.5 million and even if he counters with $10 million, he'll probably win.
  4. He spiked Pedroia on a slide into 2nd last year. They have a reason to boo him too.
  5. He needs power and patience. He had a .343 BA with a .348 OBP this year. Major league pitchers are going to figure out how to get him to make a lot of outs really quick with discipline that bad.
  6. This would be foolish to me. Both have starter arsenals. Try them out there and if they don't succeed you know you at least have great bullpen arms. But they're far more valuable if they're starters.
  7. 1982 team playoff record: 6-6 2018 team playoff record: 6-4 So no, the 1982 team only had to win a 5 game series to make it to the World Series. The Brewers of this decade have done that twice.
  8. For whatever reason, he was effectively shut down after Sept. 1 of this season. If Gio hadn't been hurt, I doubt he pitches any in the post-season. Something was obviously up... His workload increased 20% from the previous season. It was probably nothing more than that.
  9. He has his own twitter account too. https://twitter.com/invisiblesnell?lang=en
  10. I wouldn't go more than like 1/8 with a club option for a second year with a fairly high buyout number. Like 1/8 that can turn into 2/16 if the option is picked up with a $2 million buyout so he gets $10 million guaranteed no matter what. The hardest of passes if someone offers him 3 years.
  11. He's a below average hitter in his career and was terrible this year. This is not a good reason. This was a run scoring opportunity where a hit to the outfield would at minimum tie the game and if it's an extra base hit could potentially give us the lead. Waiting for later to use your best option is the exact thing that would get a manager lambasted if he had done it with a reliever. So Counsell used perhaps his worst option in a one run game and runners on 1st and 2nd to save his best options for later. Well, later came and he used Santana with nobody on in a 1 run game and he used Granderson with a runner on 1st in a 5-1 game. Use your best option to try to get even or ahead now because you don't know if you're going to have the chance to do the same later in the game and it turns out, we didn't have the chance later in the game.
  12. He only has two pitches and he tends to lose velocity and control the later he goes. Just look at tonight, first 9 fastballs (his first inning) were between 95.5 and 97.5 with an average of 96.5. After that he threw 18 fastballs at an average speed of 94.7 and in his third inning he threw 5 out of 6 pitches for balls to start the inning and got to face a pitcher and a catcher who hits like a pitcher for two of the outs. He's a reliever for me. One of the best in the game but a reliever.
  13. Terrible move by Counsell taking the bat out of the hands of our best hitter. *Not sure how blue this text should be*
  14. Is Schoop a Dodger now? I kid, I kid. But not really. Or maybe I am.
  15. If you replace a player they can't be on the roster the next series. Not that we would want him on the roster.
  16. Chryst punted in the 4th quarter on 4th and 2 at the Michigan 42 down by two touchdowns. Think about how stupid that is for a second.
  17. Ballsy yes, but not smart. You're at the mercy of where the ref spots the ball, and no way is it a good idea to take a risk like that when you're winning the game with under two minutes. Practically giving it to them in FG range to win the game if you don't make it. Horrible risk/reward there. One thing I think will change, going for it on 4th down all the time when you're in FG range in the 1st half. I can see a team(s) going for it far more often. Counterpoint: Willingly giving the ball to an offense that only needed a FG to win and was averaging 6.8 yards per play (which would rank 3rd in the NFL) is not a smart play. I'll take my chances on my 6'4 QB being able to lean forward about 6 inches (because that was the actual length of the down, not a full yard) over giving the ball back to an offense that has roasted my defense all game long.
  18. That, umm, wouldn't be a random system. And you hate all draft systems I guess.
  19. He can say whatever he wants now but if they don't care about the team, they're going to sell it. Not saying his kids don't want the team but him saying they can take over doesn't mean much.
  20. It was so incredibly frustrating watching Paul Chryst do this three times in the 4th quarter a couple weeks ago against Iowa.
