  1. But Stearns acquired Brinson and Diaz and we don't know that Brinson is a high strikeout player.
  2. Wait, are you saying that when the Brewers got Yelich and Cain that other teams wanted the Brewers to offer more because other teams feel that they lost leverage and lowered Santana's value? I was told that couldn't possibly happen.
  3. You can do this with literally every team. Ian Happ hit .253/.328/.514 last year as a 22/23 year old and they have him at .249/.320/.462. Willson Conteras hit .276/.356/.499 last year for over 3 WAR and they have him at .271/.346/.465 with 2.8 WAR in 2018. Javier Baez has had 2.7 and 2.2 WAR the past two seasons and they have him at 1.9 WAR in 2018. They don't have 23 year old Albert Almora Jr. improving at all.
  4. Broxton is 3 years older than Nola. Ponce is less than a year younger. Everyone of the packages is completely unrealistic but this is by far the worst.
  5. If you're blocked by other players, you're not getting a lot of playing time, right? So how is that going to help Santana's value? Just because Yelich wanted to be traded doesn't mean the Marlins had to trade him. What's he going to do? Hold out until he's traded?
  6. Again, you would think that but from a month and a half ago. Now obviously things could've changed since then but it doesn't give you the feeling that we're going to get good value for Santana.
  7. It's also $5 million short, which is probably a signing bonus probably spread out over the 5 years. Edit: Or we're giving him $1 million a year for the 5 years after his contract is over, which I hate. *ducks*
  8. loved (mainly because it got K-Rod off the team) Fine with it Fine with it (a lot of people were pissed at that trade yet didn't get a ton of crap from other posters) Loved Loved I think I was fine with this. Don't remember. Honestly don't remember how I felt about this one. Didn't really expect much for Hill but thought this was light for a return iirc. Liked this overall and better than the Cleveland deal. Liked. Thought it was light but Thornburg got hurt and Shaw was better than expected. Still think Shaw had a career year last year and didn't understand why we were trading for 27 year old average players like Shaw. I don't think Dubon is anything more than a utility guy. Pennington might be something but is a long ways away. I thought this was making a move just to make a move. Not bad, not good, just there, I guess? Saw no reason to trade Maldonado for another catcher. Meh. It looks like Webb sucks but Cooper sucks too so whatever. Older prospect for a rental reliever. Whatever. Fine. Fine. Don't like because I'm a huge Brinson and Harrison fan and we already had a ton of outfield depth in the majors.
  9. Well, we still pretty clearly need pitching help, right? Aguilar and Thames aren't going to bring us that so it has to be Santana, doesn't it? Or maybe Phillips or maybe both.
  10. No they didn't. Are you insinuating that the Marlins just took the Brewers' offer without checking in on what the rest of the league might offer first? No I'm saying they were listening to offers but it wasn't guaranteed that they were going to trade him. With Cain, Yelich and Braun's full no trade clause, we pretty much have to make a move and other teams know that.
  11. Braun, full no trade clause. Cain, full no trade clause at least for this year and even without one, it's not like we were going to sign him just to trade him in June. Yelich, see Cain. So unless they're actually serious about moving Braun to 1st full time, in which case Thames and/or Aguilar is on the chopping block, where is Santana going to play. And yeah, they can move them around but they're not going to be considered full time players, so how happy are they going to be with that? Sorry if I don't see rainbows and sunshine all the time but getting value for Santana got quite a bit harder than it was 24 hours ago and when reports came out earlier in the offseason about the market for Santana being cool to begin with, I'm not exactly optimistic that we're going to get good value for him.
  12. What else are we getting? Because one year of Corbin isn't close to enough for Santana.
  13. Eh, as Brad Ford pointed out, I just think it's positioning by the Brewers' brass to keep Santana's value up. It's always about leverage and value with these guys IMO. Hard to keep leverage up when nobody believes it. Wouldn't be buying it for a second if I was another team.
  14. I think everybody hates things that they don't like.
  15. Why is Salazar such a big thing around here? He was so bad at one point last year that he was demoted to the bullpen, rebounded a little and then quickly went back in the tank. He's started 30 games once. Has gone over 140 innings once and in his career averages less than 6 innings per start. I'd want a damn good prospect coming back with Salazar if we're giving up Santana for him.
  16. Can’t speak for everyone but I doubt anyone wants to see a ban. Just to stop the snarky, Debbie downer posts and trying to ruin others excitement. Doesn’t seem like too much to ask. The posts in the other forum are pretty damning in my opinion. Well, you can check the timestamps on the first one. I didn't actually do that.
  17. Thank you. I thought that post would be a quick laugh for any semi-regular poster here who has seen clancy talk about moving Braun to 3rd again.
  18. If you are looking to get banned we can accommodate. I wouldn't have even had to make that post if a couple of posters didn't get offended by it for no reason.
  19. No they don't. Can someone please elaborate? That would help. I did in the other thread. I'll look for it. Edit:
  20. Oh I'm sorry. Should I have put post #101 in blue or added a winking emoji at the end of it? I thought it was obvious enough that I didn't need to because it's been a running joke on here for years that clancy always wants to move Braun back to 3rd base that it didn't need it. Sorry to have upset those of you with such delicate sensibilities.
  21. Dude can you please stop? Go punch a pillow or something please. Can you please actually read the post before you ***** about it?
