  1. They were doing such a good job in their rebuild. It's such a pointless signing at such a non-premium position for such an average player. It almost makes me think ownership said go spend some money on a "name" player for fan interest.
  2. Juuse Saros is a damn gem.
  3. I mean, if it was easy to bunt a ball or hit a ball in a certain direction but it's not. Once pitchers realize that's what he's trying to do they're going to bust him inside. Then Gallo will adjust and start pulling the ball which will play right into the shift.
  4. Upside: Brian Anderson finally figured out how to say Pina.
  5. That's not his fault. He's 11th in franchise history in bWAR. Granted that says more about our history than how great Jenkins was but he was still a good player for quite a while. I'd rather see guys like Jenkins honored than another garbage celebration for the '82 team.
  6. Oh, so that's why Nieuwenhuis kept playing over Santana in 2016.
  7. Would've been incredibly dumb to give up a pick for a one year deal, so I'm really happy Cobb didn't accept it.
  8. If only some team had been interested in him in say, August 2016.
  9. For a team that missed the playoffs by one game last year, those 7 starts where he got shelled would seem to me like they might be a big deal. Not only that but the more bad starts you have, the more you need your bullpen to fill the gaps, which tires them, which limits their effectiveness until you can get them some rest either from the All-Star Break or a couple of off days fairly close together and you can't guarantee that those blowup starts are going to come at a time where there will be some rest days for the bullpen to get back in order.
  10. He blocked me years ago when I called him a Boras shill.
  11. My only connection to state this year is that my mom went to Roncalli and they just stomped Pardeeville by 34. So go Roncalli.
  12. I think it's supposed to sound like somebody who has no idea how to speak Spanish, trying to speak Spanish. So a little different but sort of.
  13. Because nobody should pay attention to a guy hitting a bunch of scrub pitchers in a hitter friendly environment?
  14. I don't think it's that they don't want to, it's just that it's way too long (maybe not for pitchers but position players.) I wouldn't want to be there for well over a month when I'm ready for real games in a couple of weeks. All that other stuff I wouldn't give a crap about if I was a baseball player. I hate golf, I mostly hate people so I would feel no need to bond with any of them.
  15. Was he at that Boras spring training thing for free agents in Florida? If he was he's probably not that far behind.
  16. Where is the snark in this thread?
  17. This from Al Bethke’s blog. Good grief. Fine. He can go post his rumors there in between all the right wing garbage Bethke posts.
  18. Saying that people were rude to High Heat is a thing that's going to go on now even though it pretty much never happened?
  19. I had my suspicions because he posted exactly the opposite of how someone with insider info would post. Usually you get the information and you post all of it and then either the person who gave it to you sees it or someone else with the team sees it and wonders how it got out and then the person who gave it gives out less info or none at all. Here it seems like it was names the Brewers were connected to in the media (hence the no insider info, just guessing that the Brewers would actually pull the trigger on a name they were connected to) and then after that it was a bunch of names that aren't available but might be if their team is out of contention in the summer (Stroman, Paxton etc.) I have no doubt teams discuss players that might be available in the summer all the time but that's so far out that I doubt anyone willing to share inside information with their friends would even bring it up to them at that time because so many things can change from February to July. Typical inside info starts with too much information given in the beginning and then scale it back. This was a little information in the beginning and then just a bombardment of names after that.
  20. Same philosophy has worked out pretty good so far with Pina. I don't believe Pina was on our 40 man roster until Lucroy was traded. I know he wasn't in December of 2015 and there was no reason to add him prior to Lucroy being traded.
