  1. Maybe we're trading Shaw and clancy will finally get his wish of Braun playing 3rd base again.
  2. How much does that really matter in the 70s? I feel like teams are not going way under slot in that range. Last year slot was almost $800,000 for pick 73. So it matters quite a bit.
  3. Deal keeps getting better! Be honest, without looking it up, do you even know who our 3rd round pick was last year? K.J. Harrison. Edit: And it's not just losing the pick, it's also losing the associated bonus money as well.
  4. Deal keeps getting better!
  5. Wait, so you don't think if Cain declines and isn't good that we're just going to ignore his salary and pretend like we aren't even paying him?
  6. Did they bust open your piggy bank? Weird how bad signings now can affect how we spend later. Crazy concept.
  7. I'm more confident than ever that we gave up too much now.
  8. If you go by wRC+ he was 59th this year, 23rd last year, 46th in 2015 and and 48th in 2014. If you go by wOBA he was 45th in 2014, 50th in 2015, 29th in 2016 and 58th in 2017. One year out of four in the top 30 and all of a sudden he's a top 30 offensive player?
  9. This is exactly what I said. I never said Arcia is Escobar. I said he's much closer to Escobar (a basically replacement level SS) than he is to a cornerstone player (A Lindor, Correa, Seager, Machado if he played SS), like was mentioned that caused me to post what I did in the first place. Do I think Arcia is as bad as Escobar? No. Do I think he'll be as good as Lindor, Correa, Seager etc.? No. Do I think he can improve? Yes. Do I think he's closer to Escobar than he is to franchise caliber shortstops? Yes.
  10. Chicks dig the long ball? If he's comparing him to Escobar, and the ball is juiced, why didn't Alcides have a jump in his homers and slugging as well? Oh, because it doesn't fit his agenda. Because Escobar sucks and swings at everything and is coming out of his prime (if he ever had a prime to begin with)? I mean, Yelich was quite a bit worse offensively this year than last year and you guys all love him. Just because offense as a whole was way up, likely because of the ball doesn't mean that all hitters were better.
  11. In one year? They just suddenly got bigger, stronger and better conditioned in one year? And what does that have to do with the ball feeling different in a pitcher's hand?
  12. They didn't not do a very good job teaching me the grammer lerning in public school.
  13. So you're of the opinion that the ball wasn't juiced this year despite several articles being written on it? Or if it's not juiced, the feel is different, which obviously impacts pitchers. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/baseballs-are-more-consistently-juiced-than-ever/ https://sports.yahoo.com/world-series-players-concerns-slick-juiced-baseballs-continue-prior-game-5-012645244.html https://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2017/10/30/16570142/world-series-mlb-baseballs-juiced-slick-homers https://www.theringer.com/2017/6/14/16044264/2017-mlb-home-run-spike-juiced-ball-testing-reveal-155cd21108bc https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2017/06/29/mlb-juiced-ball-home-runs/440203001/ http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/open-letter-mlb-commissioner-rob-manfred-juiced-balls/ That's literally the first page of a google search.
  14. Good for them. So who would be an untouchable prospect in your mind? Do the Brewers have any right now? Are their any players on the MLB roster that are worth hanging onto, or is everyone fair game? I mean, I'm really trying to understand your viewpoint, but I'm having trouble seeing how it leads to success? I think Brinson is the closest to an untouchable prospect we have. And everyone is fair game on our roster, all the time. Even if we had Mike Trout there are scenarios where some team would be able to offer enough to get me to trade him.
  15. Arcia OPS’s .731 last season at age 22. Escobar has never done that in his entire big league career of a decade. With a juiced ball. That .730 OPS screams cornerstone to me.
  16. So let me get this straight - You don't consider Lindor a cornerstone? WOW...Now i know you really aren't paying attention. Lindor finish top 10 in MVP voting the last two years and just turned 24 coming off a 33hr year. No, I said Lindor wasn't particularly great in the minors, similar to Escobar and Arcia but came up to the majors and became a superstar. Who's not paying attention now?
  17. I never considered Arcia a top 10 prospect. Even in the minors he was much more in line with the Escobar track than a Correa or Machado track. Now obviously he could improve. Lindor was like that but so far in the majors he's been much more Escobar than any of the top shortstops that you would actually consider cornerstones.
  18. We get it. Everyone on the team is garbage and we should trade all them because they are all going to regress. For the rest of you fine folks with regard to this statement, no....just no. Right, 1 WAR in 750+ MLB plate appearances. I'm just hot taking all over the place.
  19. Arcia is closer to Alcides Escobar than he is to being a building block.
  20. I don't believe so. I've already addressed this. There is no crunch coming after this season. Who suggested doing this? Shaw is in his prime. Anderson is nearing the end of his prime. Why would I think those two are anything but regression candidates since they are in or near the end of their prime and had done nothing close to what they did last year? Santana and Davies are at least young enough where you could say there's maybe a little more in there but Santana is always going to suck defensively and might not carry a .360+ BABIP but I'd be more inclined to believe he will with a 28.2 LD% and nearly 40% of the contact he does make being hard contact. He's probably a 3-4 WAR player going forward, which is right around where he was this year. Davies, I don't know why, just not a huge fan. I know he gets results. Can't really explain it. Just feel that if he loses a little bit on his fastball and its velocity gets closer to his changeup that he's going to get crushed and turn into a pumpkin.
  21. You literally said it. 100 losses, scorched earth, top 3 at minimum draft picks, huge bonus pools. Is it guaranteed to work? No. But at least I'm giving myself a shot at 5-8 WAR players making nothing (relatively) for the first few years of their careers so I don't have to go out and trade all of my prospects to get these guys. I said it last night. After the 27th out was made in game 162 I would've been shopping Knebel, Santana, Shaw, Anderson, probably not Nelson because he's hurt and has no value, maybe Davies etc. Doesn't mean I'd trade them but if I was blown away with an offer, you bet I would take it. I think they all overachieved last year and are due for regression and they're not really core players anyways, so you can always flip guys like that for prospects and have other prospects fill their spots.
  22. Okay? And when his BABIP drops to .330 (or worse) which causes his offense to go to crap, what's his WAR going to be? This is exactly the overachieving I'm talking about.
