  1. How do the Brewers have an off day on Monday while the Cubs continue to play? Sad!
  2. We currently have 6 players on our 25 man roster 25 and under. One barely pitches (Hader), one barely plays (Phillips) one is a good defensive shortstop with a bad bat, another is a reliever, another is a starter who tonight notwithstanding has been horrible and another is a really good hitter but kind of a bad defensive outfielder. I would hardly say we have very good young players on this roster. Shaw, Santana, Aguilar, Arcia, Nelson, Knebel, Hader are all very good young players and are keepers IMO. Broxton is a defensive specialist best used as a replacement at the end of close games. I'm afraid that is what he is. Villar, I just don't know about him. He makes such stupid decisions sometimes but he was great last year. Off year this year. I just don't know. I'm glad he turned down the extension. Also add Perez. He can play multiple positions and very well. Another keeper. I don't consider 27 or 28 year olds young. I consider them in the prime of their career.

  4. I'm not sure the Brewers have anything to realistically sell. Nobody wants Braun with all the injuries. Anderson is injured. Most of the other players doing well are pieces for next year and beyond. I guess we can sell Garza but not really sure what we would get for him. I don't want them to buy at this point but it seems more like a stand pat type of situation. I mean, you could sell Knebel and/or Barnes if some team offers a haul. You could potentially sell Thames. I mean, every player should always be available because you never know when some team is going to blow you away with an offer.
  5. We've scored 12 runs in the last 5 games and people are seriously blaming Stearns for not going and getting a pitcher to prevent the losing streak.
  6. I mean his other option right now is Phillips and he hasn't exactly lit the world on fire and his 30% strikeout rate playing half his games in probably the most hitter friendly park in professional baseball doesn't exactly scream this guy is going to be able to hit major league pitching.
  7. Well, a decision to sell might be much easier if they keep this up for another week. Not as talented as the Cubs and falling further and further behind in the wildcard.
  8. I do think that last replay clearly showed it hit his shin. Ball definitely changed direction. Yeah I'm not sure if it did or not, but still, make a call . I don't get what Thames was doing. Even if they don't make a call, get your ass to 1st asap and then make a throw to 2nd. He just kind of stood there and then slowly walked to 1st and then waited like 3 seconds before even thinking about throwing to 2nd.
  9. I do think that last replay clearly showed it hit his shin. Ball definitely changed direction.
  10. He is literally almost the exact same pitcher home or away for his career, which is a lot more meaningful and telling than his 2017 splits. Yeah, I think you'd have a hard time finding any player whose home/road splits are as close as Gray's.
  11. Does anyone know how this happens? Every time I see FoxTrax or MLB Gameday the zone is the exact same size. They have a guy in the press box with every batter's stance on a computer and he then adjusts the strike zone based on the batter's stance. It takes about 5 seconds and can be saved so they don't have to do it every time a batter comes up.
  12. Some? Sure but you're not going to win a lot when you're only scoring 2 or 3 runs a game. Teams in MLB this year are 200-514 when scoring 2 or 3 runs. That's only a .280 winning percentage. Last year it was 424-914 (.317). 2015 was 466-918 (.337). We've won 1 of the last 4 games when we scored 2 or 3 runs which is right around where we should be.
  13. The moves everyone wants the team to make is for pitching but the team has scored 3, 2, 2 and 3 runs the last 4 games. I'm not sure how a pitcher helps that lack of offensive production.
  14. So...people in favor of a machine aren't looking for one that just guesses? They already have machines that are more accurate than umpires.
  15. The umpire would still be there to actually call the strike.
  16. Pirates got Rivero (plus prospects) for a rental Melancon.
  17. If Broxton can make contact against Rivero, I would consider that a win.
  18. Yeah, really hate to hear the Brewers announcers sticking up for the Brewers players.... I'm just saying, he's making it sound like the worst call in the world when it's not even the worst call in the game and he constantly harps on the "too close to take" on pitches that are off the plate but now, somehow, it's different. Like umpires, be consistent. If you're going to say it's too close to take for an opponent, then it's too close for Shaw to take.
  19. Where's your too close to take line, Bill? Or does that only apply to opponent batters? Shut the hell up.
  20. Why doesn't Perez make sure he gets the lead runner?
  21. Lol at Bill thinking the Pirates want to look at that catch. You can't get a much clearer catch on a dive than that.
  22. What happened? All Gameday said is Santana was out from getting hit by a batted ball. And yes Shaw is awesome . It went between his legs but the 2nd base umpire said it hit him.
  23. That was awful. There's no way you would be able to tell if it hit his pant leg and the ball clearly didn't change direction.
