  1. Yes, unfortunately the Braves aren't on crack.
  2. So miss out on guys like Kershaw, Bumgarner, Verlander, Sale, Syndergaard etc. because the bust rate is high and then hang on to AA or higher starters who look like the real deal when you do draft pitchers (not going to happen very often if you're skipping pitching with your first two picks) and then expect other teams to trade their legit AA and AAA pitchers because you want them after the other team did almost all the developing? Yeah, I'm going to say the chances of any of that working is smaller than the chance a pitching prospect turns into a good major league starter.
  3. The only thing that looks different is a ridiculously low strikeout rate over 50 innings. That's not going to drastically effect his value. And even if he's not an ace, he's going to get more than the pile of nothing you're offering. If Hamels was a Brewer and we were looking to trade him, would you accept Ponce, Medeiros and Orimoloye for him? My guess is you wouldn't.
  4. He wasn't a super high draft pick but Cody Adams was terrible every time I saw him pitch.
  5. Ponce, Medeiros and Demi don't get anywhere close to Hamels. Come on guys, we're going to need to give up at minimum one of Brinson or Hader if we want an ace under control. That's like not even negotiable.
  6. ESPN just had a cringe worthy interview with Stanton where Sage Steele spent basically the whole time asking him about Aaron Judge.
  7. Baltimore also forced Arrieta to stand on the 1st base side of the rubber while he wanted to stand on the 3rd base side. The Cubs let him go back to the 3rd base side.
  8. Wait, now it's apparently good that he doesn't hit homers or have good walk rates? He's a 26 year old basically non-prospect that's boosting his numbers in the best hitting environment in baseball. If we put him on the trade market by himself he would maybe return like an Aaron Wilkerson type who we got for Aaron Hill. He's not getting us anything and teams aren't going to value him as some valuable piece in a trade package. They'd take him as like a 4th or 5th piece and maybe hope he can be an average 1B or something but if he's in a trade you're going to need to come with much bigger headliners and secondary pieces than Ray, Clark and Dubon.
  9. If you completely ignore how much they botched the original deal.
  10. This is the second time in 5 minutes I"ve seen someone put Cooper in a trade like he actually has value. Until he got to Colorado Springs the only times he posted an OPS of .800 or better was as a 22 year old in 70 plate appearances in the Pioneer League, a 23 year old in 19 plate appearances in the Arizona League, a 23 year old in 32 plate appearances in the Midwest League and a 24 year old in 36 plate appearances in the Southern League. That track record is a lot closer to being available on waivers than having actual trade value.
  11. Was coming to say I'd target Gausman.
  12. I mean, too bad if you have a family. My parents couldn't afford great seats at County Stadium so we were always in the bleachers or upper grandstand. Those seats were terrible but I was at a baseball game, so I didn't really care if they were terrible. If you want to wait a few innings when the park is filled and then find a spot where there are some empty seats and move down there. Fine, whatever. Just don't friggin' sit in my seat before the game starts. That's annoying that I have to tell you to get out of my seat.
  13. I've said this for a while. Great year for Knebel but I don't think a 1 ERA and 15 K/9 is sustainable for any length of time. If some team offers us a haul, we'd be fools not to take it regardless of where we are in the standings.
  14. Yes, thank you. I hate it when somebody sits in my seat because even though I'm right and I paid for that seat, you always get that one person (or more) giving you the look of just go find someplace else to sit. That's not the way it works. I paid for this seat for a reason, because it's where I want to sit. I actually double check my section, row and seat number just to make sure I'm not accidentally in the wrong section or row or whatever just to avoid that awkward conversation. The absolute worst thing though and this has happened to me more than once is people who don't know how to read their sections, row or seat number and come up to me and act like I'm in their seat and then I have to explain that I'm in the seat I paid for and then they try to argue with me and I have to waste my time and get out my ticket and show them that I'm in the right section, row and seat.
  15. Ben McLemore has the same skill set, was unrestricted and was signed for two less years and $32 million less.
  16. Derrick Rose is a terrible basketball player.
  17. Close to the same spot where Thames hit his home run? Is Bill on crack?
  18. You know, when that poster in the random MLB news thread on the major league forum said quick somebody make a thread in the trade forum about getting Lucroy back, it was meant in jest.
  19. You wonder if Espino is getting DFA'd after the game. Just not a major league pitcher and we might need a 40 man spot for a starter tomorrow.
  20. Really can't figure out who's worse between Guerra and Espino.
  21. $1M $1M $3M $5M $6M $10M $12M $15M club option ($3M buyout) That's $41M guaranteed. 8 years, $53M total if the club option is exercised.
  22. I know Brian and Bill say otherwise because they're stupid but Thames is a really awful defender.
  23. Guerra is legitimately one of the worst starters in MLB right now.
  24. Rangers are open to moving Lucroy.
