  1. Because the umpires would just deny it? I get it, they normally don't when you ask past the 7th and are out of challenges but they'd catch on pretty quick if a manager tried to do what you're suggesting.
  2. You would have to really like Norris because the rest is a whole lot of nothing. I like Norris but not that much.
  3. I honestly think Crawford just made a great play. When that ball was hit the only thing I was thinking of was if he was going to be able to get Presley out at 1st. Not once did it cross my mind that he was going to throw it to 3rd base until the second he did it.
  4. I wish these seagulls would crap on Brian's head so he would shut up about them.
  5. Herb Kohl wrote this post or at the very least endorsed it with 100% enthusiasm.
  6. Same thing happened to the Giants a couple innings ago. Completely misjudged fly ball by Parker resulting in a "double" for Hill and then a double for Flores that was weakly hit and just over Belt's glove.
  7. That dog is 100x the skateboarder I am or will ever be.
  8. He's going to swing and miss a ton if he keeps up that ridiculous leg kick.
  9. Just because we've played a bunch of garbage teams that are worse than us and have beaten them doesn't mean we should be buying or standing pat. This is still a bad team that's nowhere close to contention. -40 run differential, 10-20 against teams over .500. There should be no change in our philosophy from last summer until now. Everybody is available for the right price, no "buying" to improve the team now.
  10. I hope a bunch of guys play well overall but at different times and we get buried in the standings.
  11. Gerardo Parra has a .266 average and only a .276 OBP this year. Even Yuni is like take a pitch, bro.
  12. I mean, not really. What are you taking in the 20th round, some senior college player that's just roster filler when you have 20 more rounds for that or an upside pick that probably won't sign but you draft him and offer him say $750,000 and dare him to turn it down. Worst case is he says no, best case is you got a top two round talent in the 20th round. It was wasted. He won't sign and I am sure the Brewers are aware of that. You can keep dreaming on that sliver of hope he signs, but when was the last time a player did that? There have been many players to have success at the MLB level despite being drafted 20+. Below are just some of the names I uncovered: 2000: Jose Bautista, 3B, Pirates, 599th pick (20th round) 2005: Sergio Romo, P, Giants, 852nd pick (28th round) 2008: Tanner Roark, P, Rangers, 753rd pick (25th round). 2009: After St. Louis snagged Carpenter, it also stole current closer Trevor Rosenthal (21st round) and first baseman Matt Adams (23rd) in what has to be one of the best late-Draft runs in recent memory. So you managed to name 5 players in the last 10+ years, one of which bounced around between 5 teams and didn't become a decent player until he was 29? Yeah, I'll take my chances on changing the mind of a highly ranked high school player over some the <1% chance that some 20th round college player eventually turns into a good player.

  14. Even with underslot deals it seems highly improbable that they'd be able to come up with that. So, go over the cap. Otherwise, it's a wasted pick. We can only go like $480,000 over our cap before we lose a 1st round pick. That would be really dumb and no, it wasn't a wasted pick.
  15. For a personal catcher, Maldonado sure has to go out to the mound and talk to Peralta a lot.
  16. It's the 20th round. Nobody is going to be able to pay him $3 million at that point.
  17. The Mets had the bases loaded with no outs twice and managed to score 1 run and were probably lucky to score that many and you're complaining about the Brewers? If the Mets just hit a little bloop to the outfield in the 9th, a sacrifice fly means nothing.
  18. I agree. Watching it live it looked like he was sliding off the base on his own. Sure when you slow it down it looks like he pushed him off the base but I'm not sure that's what happened when watching it in full speed live. I don't think there's indisputable evidence to overturn that. And the blocking the plate thing with Hill. I thought all you had to do was give the runner space to slide? Plawecki did that. He was blocking it at first but before the ball got there he turned his foot and allowed Hill a clear path to the front of home plate. And Terry Collins is an idiot. 26 high stress pitches for Henderson who has already had shoulder problems and you send him back out for a 2nd inning and two pitches into it he gets hurt. Feel bad for Henderson because he worked hard just to get to the majors, got hurt and then worked hard to get back and then his idiot manager sends him out when he should've been happy with 1 inning and he gets hurt 2 pitches in to his second inning.
  19. Stearns is on the broadcast right now and is pretty confident Ray will stay in CF.
  20. We took a bunch of college players including two seniors. We probably have one of the easier groups to sign. Im not so sure. Just because theyre college guys doesnt make them any less easy. I would bet Burnes will be over slot and then you have the two high schoolers. I wonder if they could save a little bit with Erceg and then have the two senior signs. Gives us a little wiggle room. I'm not saying it will be easy but it's easier than a lot of teams. With the way it's set up now it's always better to take the money as a college junior just because there's very little reward for not signing. Look at Kyle Funkhouser not signing last year at 35. Now he drops down to 100 something and exhausted his college eligibility and has no leverage.
  21. Why does FS Wisconsin think we care about Northwoods League scores?

  23. When has the front office ever denied it? Hell, even ownership admitted they are and it's much harder for them to admit it than the front office that was literally just brought in to do the rebuild.
