  1. http://oi53.tinypic.com/29qmm9g.jpg That was right before play in the bottom of the 9th started. Okay, I know the Rays are down 6-0 and it's incredibly unlikely they come back, but seriously. Leaving? They were booing them in the 6th inning too.
  2. Jeffress didn't pitch in Nashville. Only two candidates for me. Braddock and Gamel. I'd guess Gamel just based on Braddock being a reliever.
  3. One day in and there's already a blown call. Not that I care because it happened against the Yankees and I hate them, but still.
  4. What do you mean not really? They stretched the payroll as far as it would go. If we had Hardy, we wouldn't have had the money to sign Davis or Hawkins or whatever other crappy free agent Doug signed last year.
  5. The money we "saved" was spent on Doug Davis.
  6. Come on Twins. Make this a good day and stomp the Yankees.
  7. Amazing. No hitter in his first ever postseason game.
  8. Isn't this the third year in a row Brian has announced the Phillies series? He has to be getting tired of them.
  9. Rays "fans" are pathetic. Down 5-1 and there are a ton of empty seats behind home plate.
  10. Why are you assuming the only pitchers that Melvin can get are free agents and expensive guys who have no trade clauses?
  11. I agree completely. Doug Melvin's replacement could very well be Sal Bando 2.0. We know how well THAT worked for the Brew Crew. This is just weak to me. We can't get rid of a guy because the new guy might be worse? You can just as easily flip that around and say we should get rid of the guy because the new guy might be better.
  12. Last year today (it's now October 5th so it works http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) was the worst night of my entire sports life. Watching Favre beat the Packers, just brutal. Worst sports moments: 1. Favre beating Packers 2. 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs watching the Hershey Bears celebrate on the Admirals home ice with me in attendance. Had to leave a couple minutes early in that one since there was no way they were coming back from a four goal deficit with a couple minutes left and I didn't want to watch an opposing team celebrate. 3. Packers losing Super Bowl XXXII. 4. Bucks being eliminated in Game 7 of Eastern Conference Finals thanks to some shady at best officiating. 5. Brewers being eliminated by Phillies. Hard to put this one any higher than 5. After Sheets got hurt, we just didn't have the pitching to match them. Also, it can't be that painful because I think we all knew what was going to happen when Sveum gave the ball to Suppan in game 4.
  13. Only ones I could possibly see are the Rangers, White Sox, Tigers and Orioles. White Sox are out because their farm system is horrid. Orioles are unlikely I think. I don't think McPhail is going to trade a bunch of young cost-controlled players for one year of Fielder when Fielder won't take them anywhere near playoff contention. So that leaves the Tigers who have some interesting pieces and Rangers.
  14. Now that the season is over we have the official draft order. 1. Pittsburgh Pirates 2. Seattle Mariners 3. Arizona Diamondbacks 4. Baltimore Orioles 5. Kansas City Royals 6. Washington Nationals 7. Arizona Diamondbacks (for failure to sign 2010 1st round pick Barret Loux) 8. Cleveland Indians 9. Chicago Cubs 10. San Diego Padres (for failure to sign 2010 1st round pick Karsten Whitson) 11. Houston Astros 12. Milwaukee Brewers 13. New York Mets 14. Florida Marlins 15. Milwaukee Brewers (for failure to sign 2010 1st round pick Dylan Covey) 16. Los Angeles Dodgers 17. Los Angeles Angels 18. Oakland Athletics 19. Detroit Tigers 20. Colorado Rockies 21. Toronto Blue Jays 22. St. Louis Cardinals 23. Chicago White Sox 24. Boston Red Sox 25. San Diego Padres 26. Texas Rangers 27. Cincinnati Reds 28. Atlanta Braves 29. San Francisco Giants 30. Minnesota Twins 31. New York Yankees 32. Tampa Bay Rays 33. Philadelphia Phillies
  15. Tampa Bay clinches home field through the AL playoffs with the Yankees loss to the Red Sox.
  16. But he had the expectation of him performing better than his career norms, which he didn't do.
  17. I'm watching on gameday, but why exactly did Escobar sacrifice bunt Cain to 2nd to put a runner on 2nd with 2 outs with Kottaras facing a lefty? That seems pretty dumb. Edit: Apparently it was only one out, but still pretty stupid to sacrifice bunt to bring up Kottaras to face a lefty pitcher and then the pitcher has to bat.
  18. Tiebreakers are based on last year's record. Whoever had the worst record the previous year between the two tied teams gets the highest pick. The Marlins and Dodgers both had better records than us, so we would've gotten the higher pick had we been tied.
  19. Nice job by Tim Welke calling a 3-2 ball a strike.
  20. Thanks to ESPN and Chris Singleton for telling me that it's unlikely the Padres make the playoffs. Three games behind the Giants with three to go and two behind the Braves in the wildcard, I really needed that expert analysis to help me figure out who was likely to make the playoffs. Extra points for telling me how exciting the race is going to be this weekend after you just told me how unlikely it is for the Padres to make the playoffs.
  21. Maybe I'm just different because I'm a fan of all sports. After Brewers season is over, I'll watch the playoffs and pick my favorite teams out of that group. Looks like that will be the Giants in the NL and the Rays in the AL this year, so I'll be rooting for both to make the World Series, though I wouldn't mind if the Rangers made it out of the AL or the Reds out of the NL and then less than a week after the Brewers season ends, hockey season starts, so I'll have a ton of games to watch there and at the end of October basketball season starts so I'll have that and the Brewers will be a distant 4th at that point in time so I won't even remember if they won or lost. I'd imagine the players feel the same way. Many have kids that they would want to spend time with after being away from home a lot of the season, they also have other hobbies as well and after playing for six months, I'd imagine they just want to get away from baseball for a while. Maybe that's different for a team that loses the World Series or something, but for a team that was never really in contention, I doubt it matters.
  22. How exactly did sweeping the NL Central champion at the end of the season last year translate into momentum this year?
  23. Umm, why exactly are we going to a pre recorded interview in the middle of an inning? Nice job, morons.
