  1. I agree with Briggs. Sanchez is probably the better value to us. To get Greinke, we would have to trade Hardy most likely. Since there's no replacement on the free agent market, and I don't trust that Escobar is ready, I wouldn't do that trade. It strengthens the rotation, but severely weakens the offense. The same can't be said about a Hart for Sanchez swap. There are still plenty of outfielders on the market that could replace and probably do better than Hart. Sanchez posted a 3.85 FIP and tRA of 4.23 last year and struck out a batter per inning. He also had a high BABIP and low LOB%. If those get to around league average, he'll improve. He also seemed to hit a wall, at the end of June he had a 3.79 ERA in 102 innings. Problem is he only pitched 63.2 innings the year before, so there may have been some fatigue. I'm just not sure the Giants would trade Sanchez for Hart. They have Lewis, Sanchez, Winn and Schierholtz in the minors. Outfielder doesn't seem to be a pressing need for them.
  2. That's why you have parties where you don't have to show an I.D. to get alcohol. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. Nobody wants Gadz. I think you're also underrating Landry. He's very efficient, he's a good defender and CV likely won't be here after this year. It's more of a get what you can for him now kind of deal.
  4. That's not the rumor. The rumor is the Bucks sending Villanueva and Lue to Houston for Carl Landry and either Luther Head or Brent Barry. Houston would then send Lue to the Lakers for Chris Mihm.
  5. Not as annoying as those "He went to Jared!" commercials.
  6. UP of Michigan? Don't go, that place sucks. Iron Mountain is a hole, Kingsford sucks, Escanaba sucks, everything about it sucks. As for Adam, you are old. I turned 21 in July. It's not as great as you might think. Sure, you can legally buy alcohol, but when you have older siblings like I do, it's easy to get booze. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. If you want to apply for a coupon to get the converter box you can go here.
  8. For question 1. You either have to buy the converter box or a new TV with a digital antenna or you won't be able to get ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS etc. Question 2. If you buy a new TV with a digital antenna, you would get all the channels you get now. From the sounds of it (you not a big TV watcher and not having cable) buying the converter box seems like the way to go. Much cheaper for you.
  9. U-Verse is still 10 times better than Time Warner.
  10. My dad did the same thing to me. My mom got pissed and made him stop though.
  11. Why are people comparing this to the Braun deal? A free agent vs a player with less than a year of service time. It's pretty obvious how we got Braun for what we did.
  12. I hit like 77 once I think. Fastball, changeup, curveball. My changeup is my best pitch and my curveball is usually awful. Either it doesn't break enough or I hang it right over the plate.
  13. First of all, he said it was decent, not good. Second of all, a 2:1 K/BB ratio is league average. http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/526_P_season_full_3_20080930.png
  14. Again, I wasn't comparing them. My point was it's a little ridiculous to write off Looper without LaRussa and Duncan because "that's the only team he's ever had success starting with" and then come back and then have the response be "he's only a two pitch pitcher." My point was that a starter with only two pitches can still have success, I just used Sheets as an example because it was the first name to pop into my head. Don't read anything into me comparing the two other than the fact that they both use two pitches.
  15. I agree that Sheets is better, I'm just trying to defend Looper a little bit. He throws low 90s with good sink and a decent slider. This team needs more depth in the rotation as well. Who know if they're going to let Gallardo pitch 200 innings next year after pitching about 40 this year. They need another starter to put in the 2 slot, but adding decent depth like Looper isn't the worst thing in the world and I certainly don't think he'll completely fall apart once he leaves LaRussa and Duncan.
  16. I would say he has a pretty good fastball in terms of both velocity and movement. His slider is decent as well. Isn't Ben Sheets pretty much a two pitch pitcher?
  17. If they want to bring back Glover they have to bring back Obermueller first.
  18. I would like to get another solid arm (maybe Sheets re-signing) or Randy Johnson, someone like that and maybe another guy like Paul Byrd to eat some innings if they still have innings limits on Parra and Gallardo.
  19. Because we would get screwed out of a first round pick for Sabathia if Teixeira signs with the Yankees.
  20. Pfft, myspace is so 2003, facebook is where the hip people talk on teh interwebs.
  21. Isn't there some way to warp Salome's bat and Kendall's defense from last year into one player? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. I really don't think the Jays do that. 1. McGowan is out until at least May. 2. They really don't need Hart with Rios, Wells and Snider. 3. They are short on pitching. They just lost Burnett to free agency and Marcum is out all of next year.
