  1. Macha seems like he's going to be super-aggressive on the basepaths this year and from what I'm seeing so far, he's going to be super-smart too. 3 stolen bases and a few extra bases taken. Seems like we're running every time we have someone on and the count goes deep.
  2. Update: I had the root canal yesterday and have been in slightly less pain since then. I still have some swelling around my cheek bone. To boot, I had my grandfather's funeral this Saturday. The weekend was made much easier with Penicillin and Vicodin, even though the Penicillin gave me a slight rash, and also it was great to see the whole family together. I saw the X-ray of my root; it looked like the "wriggly carrot" necklaces that Catholics sometimes wear. Oof.
  3. I'd go for the Ben Sheets auto'd baseball. Thanks for doing this again Pedro, I still have the Donald Driver autographed pic you sent me and I still appreciate it!
  4. This damn toothache. The entire right side of my head is in extreme pain. The worst part is I have a feeling this may call for a root canal...
  5. Somewhere, Joe Morgan silently weeps into his pillow.
  6. Yeah, if Justice meant this as a total joke, which I assume is accurate, he did an incredible job of making it as murky as possible. I harped on Justice for calling the Brewers "dead" last year because he walked through the Brewers clubhouse once. Some Brewer fans even agreed with Justice. Amazing how dumb people can get these high profile jobs and somehow be regarded as experts.
  7. Absolutely nothin'. In all siriusness, u guys jest make me so mad sometisme! Get out of ur mom's basemint nerdz! ZOMG!!!1!one!1!
  8. I'd be interested in the barrel man bobblehead. Very cool idea!
  9. I guess my point is there's a time when physical tools take you only so far. Some players just have better instinctive abilities when it comes to fielding a ground ball or being able to cover all of the strike zone. For me, Rickie's tools make up for what he might lack in baseball instincts, and that might not be something that you can just learn over time. Time will tell with Rickie.
  10. Had Weeks performed evenly remotely close to his talent level this wouldn't even be a topic. I'm not one for boo-hoo so and so is being picked on... do your job and people have nothing to say, it's that simple. This confuses me. What is his talent level? I think it's apparent that his talent level isn't as high as everyone thought when we was drafted. It's not Rickie's fault that we gave him an MLB contract right away. And how is he not doing his job? By all accounts, Rickie is one of the hardest working players on the team. If he's putting in max effort, there's not much more that he can do. Sometimes, you just have to wait for the light to go on, everything to click and that just hasn't happened for Weeks and maybe he'll always be the player that he is today, and that's still MLB-caliber. He's still well above a replacement level player, so I fail to see how he's not "doing his job."
  11. Short piece on Rickie from Yahoo sports. I'm definitely of the opinion that Weeks gets very undue, New York Yankee type criticism for his play.
  12. "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" - Pat Benetar
  13. According to Kelsie Smith of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Corey has at least a little bitterness toward the Brewers over their failures in treating his post-concussion syndrome. Can't really say that I blame him as the trainers didn't even believe anything was wrong with him.
  14. Hard to believe Manny Ramirez isn't on that list, he must've come in at 11 or 12.
  15. Weeks Hardy Braun Fielder Hart Cameron Lamb/Hall Pitcher Kendall
  16. Gallardo not likely to play in the WBC after all, according to Tom H. Good news, we need as many innings as we can get out of him this season.
  17. I agree Stein. I would bet money that Manny has no ill will toward Prince (if it were somehow a legitimate bet). Guys that play sports on the same ball squad will at times get heated toward each other and I believe Prince's teammates know that he is a team player and is ultimately the leadership presence. I do have an odd optimism for this year's team. It could be one of those perfect storms; we might could (sic for hick) have 2-4 players break out and lay waste to the NL. I think it's pessimistic to think that this team can't win at least 85 games on average. From there, who knows? I would hate for us to move toward the Yankee/Red Sox/Cubs/White Sox/Mets/Angels(?)-type of fans, as if we feel entitled to the playoffs, the type of fans that we detest. Only eight teams get there and we're at a disadvantage every year. Prince is our guy.
  18. Drunk tonight and strgglng with the fiancee on phlsopheez. God this sucks. I love her so much but we just don't see eye to eye on a vital issue. Not looking for an answer (more of a vent) but I hope that it can be worked out.
  19. Thanks Casey, I tried to searching for it through mine too and didn't see anything. Just let me get it on DVR MLBN!
  20. Damn I keep missing this. Anyone know off-hand when it'll be on again?
  21. Nice post strawboss, thanks. I really think the Brewers' fans panic from early this offseason is fading even though the team has added basically nothing. In my mind, the problem is we have one-half fewer ace pitchers for this upcoming season and we won a lot of one run games last season. We are back to the 2006-2007 offseason of banking on improvement of our younger players (Parra, Gallardo, Prince, Braun, Weeks, Hart, Hardy) after a season of overall digression from them. If the Cubs lose of one of their pitchers for a significant amount of time I believe they can be caught this season. If Gallardo and Parra can throw 380 innings this year and we can make a deadline deal or find a diamond-in-the-rough before spring training or Capuano is able to make a significant contribution this season, I believe we have a good chance.
  22. Fantastic episode last night. Question: Did Emerson really die or is he going to re-emerge later in the season?
  23. A few years back, my grandmother was excited about the new Dell computer she had purchased. When asked about it, she said "Yep, I just dialed 1-800-Gateway..."
