  1. To be honest though if Branyan doesn't get hurt I think Gross gets very little playtime during the season. That injury probably cost us at least 1 win if not 2. Possibly true, and maybe Gross takes away some ABs from Kapler who was very successful. However, I think Gross starting for Hart against 1/3 of RHP these last two months would've helped a lot, especially if Gross bats 2nd instead of Counsell. I think Melvin read the comments on Haudricourt's blog too often. They all wanted Gross gone no matter what it took.
  2. Cameron has improved the defense so much. And he adds 25+ HRs? Who else has a CF that can do both of these? Short term, I'm just fine with $10 million. Brantley could be supremely ready by 2010.
  3. He also would have been an option in left, with Braun to third, given Hall's slump. He'd have been perfect as the #2 hitter as well. IMO I don't think Braun plays another out at 3B no matter how bad Bill Hall is. But Gross definitely could've spelled in LF and given Braun more time to recuperate. Though that wouldn't guarantee Braun would have come back 100% healthy for the stretch, it's certainly conceivable that there could've been a value of one win in that decision, which obviously could be the difference between playoffs and golf.
  4. Not really as you actually can hear/read my gripe as opposed to yours, where nobody you are booing will ever hear/read it. The difference is there. The sentence from your aforementioned post made my head hurt. Just saying.
  5. Yes. I was totally against trading Gross when we did. I thought a LH bat would be important to have in our back pocket. Gabe Gross could be starting in place of Hart right now.
  6. Someone call PETBF (People for the Ethical Treatment of Brewer Fans). There's been a cruelty.
  7. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I'm still on the wagon. Yesterday hurt real bad but it gains an almost comical aspect for its predictability. Just like a ballplayer, you have to be able to shake off bad losses.
  8. Cameron and Durham are making Sveum look savvy.
  9. Well, that should solve all of our problems.

  11. Please get some runs Brewers. I can't take another loss to the Phillies. Damn you Ryan Howard.
  12. I didn't like the Gabe Gross trade when it happened, and I really don't like it now. Ditto. I wondered why they felt the need to let him go. Sucks to see Kapler go down, at least my guy Crazy Joe Dillon will finally get some ABs.
  13. They've managed a record 20 games above .500 with Weeks on the team. I don't see how he HAS to go. As much as people dislike Rickie, there's still a chance he figures it out and becomes one of the best hitting 2B in the league. At his cheap price and with other places to spend money this offseason, not to mention his trade value being about as low as is could be right now, it's probable that Weeks will be back next season at 2B. Now, if he doesn't put it together in the first 2 months of 2009, I can see Escobar getting a chance there by about June. Would Escobar need to play 2B in AAA for awhile, if he were to be moved?
  14. Oddly enough even though he is not getting many hits, especially extra base hits, Braun is walking more lately. He has walked 7 times in the last 14 days. He high month was 8 before this. He 7 BB and 11 K in that time which is a positive step now he just need to drive the ball a little more. Maybe he is taking something off his swing to make contact, but I doubt it, that does not seem like his style. I wonder, are teams pitching around Braun because they are less afraid of Prince right now? My Silver Lining: The Brewers are in far better shape for the playoffs than they were last year at this time. We have a great opportunity to step closer to the wild card this weekend. Go beat those Phillies guys.
  15. sweet redemption! Great pick-me-up in an otherwise crappy day.
  16. The firing of Yost (and hiring of a replacement) would have a much more dramatic effect on fans coming back than firing Melvin IMO. There is way more angst toward Yost amongst Brewer fans. Most Brewer fans laud Melvin for bringing in CC this year and give him credit for the farm system producing the kids. IMO if the Brewers miss the playoffs, firing Yost would be enough to bring the fans back again next season.
  17. Yes, a bit too much doom and gloom for my taste. We weren't going to keep winning at a .700 clip (or whatever it was) like we did in August. It sucks to lose opportunities to create distance between us and our wild card opponents but just because Torres blew it last night doesn't mean we can't rattle off 6 of the next 7. Braun and Fielder have to hit like they know they can in these last three weeks.
  18. Missing the playoffs this year would be really tough to take. I'm going to be a lifelong Brewer fan no matter what, but we need a payoff one of these seasons. I was too young to enjoy '82 and was disappointed with no playoffs in '87 and '92. I'm still fairly optimistic for the wild card this year, though. If we miss the playoffs, I see Yost getting canned but not Melvin.

  21. I think we men should get together and start the MACS website: "Men Against Clothes Shopping".
  22. Yikes Luvdabush, harsh. I used to play online and made pretty good consistent money. I've been wanting to get back into online play but I'm not sure how I can do it now that it's supposedly illegal?
  23. I'm envisioning Weeks and Braun sitting on a couple of in-tight changeups.
  24. I think he is still playoff eligible since he's on the DL. Having a 100% Yovani Gallardo for the stretch would make this a really dangerous team.
  25. I'd consider either one a black hole on offense right now. The only difference is Hall has the potential to put up a .900 OPS the last two months and Counsell does not. I'm not a big Hall fan but I'm playing him against all lefties and at least half of the righties from here on out. Or now that Gamel has been told he's a Sept callup, maybe he sees sometime there as well... (pared back quote; added link to Gamel text --1992)
