  1. I think he traded for Bell because everyone that could play 3B got hurt right?
  2. Golf. Lots of golf. I try to get out three times a week. I like to do karaoke from time to time, play video games (MVP '05 mostly), keep up with the sports world, ski a few times in the winter, trout fishing, lake fishing, and a little hunting..
  3. Also, topper, it seems to me you're overrating how easy it is to "hit a grounder to the right side" or "just hit a flyball". You're forgetting that the pitcher also knows when the hitter would like to hit the ball to the right side to move a runner up and can pound the inside corner to a righty. Or when a player can hit a sac fly to win the game, you know the pitcher is going to throw low in the zone with some sink. The best hitters are the ones that hit the ball where it is pitched. A classic example would be Bill Hall. Currently he seems to be trying to pull everything and it results in poor contact most of the time.
  4. If only Joey Votto could quit clogging up the bases with his anxiety. No offense, Joey, it's just a Dusty Baker joke! "I have no beef with you. This is between me and the kid."
  5. Jacobs + Yuniesk = championship! Ouch-town! Population - You, bro!
  6. Braun just needs to shut up and put up a 1.100 OPS like the other 0.5% of the league.
  7. We were 5 games behind the Cubs last July 9. Also, Prince will not necessarily be gone after next year. We have him under control through the 2011 season.
  8. I thought he pitched well. Two walks were basically intentional to get to the pitcher and one was issued to Mauer. I thought he had pretty good control all game.
  9. Looper pitched pretty well against the Twins in his last start, no?
  10. 1 vs NYM (1-0) 4 @ CHC (2-2) 3 vs STL (1-2) 3 vs LAD (1-2) 4 @ CIN (2-2) 3 @ PIT (2-1) 3 vs ATL (2-1) 4 vs WSH (3-1) 1 @ SD (1-0) 15-11 Record Tiebreaker: 18
  11. I believe it was Carlos Gomez of the Twins who got scared last season at the Pfister. There are ghost stories in every historic hotel, though. Some guys are just wusses http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  12. Bill Hall should never bat against right handers. Period Fixed.
  13. Welp, glad I have to work tonight so I don't have to suffer through another Twins beatdown. Much like brewtacular, I only get to see them so often living in MN.
  14. I guess McGehee is still ailling; no other reason for Gamel to play 3B instead of Casey.
  15. Of course they have bodies to take Bush's place. Doesn't mean they're going to make this team better. Doug is likely going to have to trade for Erik Bedard.
  16. Counsell is a winner like it or not, he has proven throughout his career that he does the little things that help teams win. A guy like Jack Wilson does all those same "little things" but has never had a winning seasons. What a loser. He just does not know how to win. We as humans like sports to be like a good story; logical conclusion to conflict. However, sports are not logical, they are games, that are widely popular and people will listen when someone tells them that there's a moral reason why someone is successful. It couldn't just be because that person was gifted with talent; they must have earned it somehow through some more powerful ethos. Maybe Mark Grace can put together a team of 9 Craig Counsell's and win the World Series. Would anyone in their right mind think that could be successful? No. But we buy that kind of tripe anyway. Mark Grace is not a real broadcaster; he's a former ballplayer that someone at one point thought spoke well so they gave him a microphone and a pedestal.
  17. What makes a person confident though? I say confidence is knowing that you can do something. If you try to do something and figure out how to do it well, you are confident that you can do it again. If you can't do it, then you are not so confident. Confidence is the result of skill put into practice.
  18. Like others here, I never have been a big hockey fan, but I watched a lot of these Stanley Cup playoffs. The Caps/Pens series kinda hooked me. I'm slowly becoming a bigger fan of the NHL than the NBA, which I can basically no longer watch even though just 5-10 years ago I watched pretty much anything NBA. I was rooting Penguins all the way and I thought for sure they were toast after game 5. Gotta love Crosby and Mahlkin is pretty underrated. Gotta love seeing the Red Wings go down, too!
  19. TheCrew -- So you think Manny will never be a good major league pitcher then? In one sentence, you say that guys have different mental abilities, implying that Parra doesn't have what it takes mentally, but then you say Fritz Shurmur gets more out of talent than most, implying that a certain way of coaching improves mental ability. So which is it? Can't players DEVELOP the mental acuity to succeed? Surely Manny has shown that he CAN get ML hitters out and he has put up great performances. All Ennder has been pointing out is that you, me or any other Brewer fan can't make a stark determination that Manny's mental ability will never allow him to be a good MLB pitcher. Sure we can speculate about it and form our opinions, but others are allowed to disagree with those opinions. I pitched all four years I was in high school and a little in college also, so I understand your point about aiming/mechanics; we all know that aiming is bad. I'm sure you're a great coach but even the best minds in the game can't predict exactly which guys will flame out in the minors and which will make it. Lots of pitchers have been left for dead and come back to have great careers. Your constant berating of Ennder's viewpoint is growing tiresome. EDIT: formatting
  20. I think Spilbourghs is more likely to be traded than Hawpe.
  21. Not only did [sheets] not pitch there but his injury seriously effected CC's ability to pitch effectively in the playoffs. huh?
