  1. if the brewers are going to make a trade the next 3 weeks, who initiates it; is it still Melvin?
  2. long anticipated but this is a good move. I hope they get someone completely outside the organization, and let Montgomery still do his thing from the draft side.
  3. i think the best case scenerio is that the brewers pay most of his remaining salary and get a prospect similar to the guy they got for Broxton. i'd be doing backflips
  4. Lucroy is a 29 year old catcher, so he will be 31 once his contract is up. I think this makes a clear case to trade him now and get the max return for him. While the brewers don't feel this will be a long rebuild, i don't see the brewers are playoff contenders before he hits free agency. While the casual fan will be upset with this move, hardcores will approve if you get a package similar to what gogo netted the brewers.
  5. reports are that more detailed arena renderings will be announced this month.
  6. I'm assuming this has a lot to do with the brewers giving him a second year. still don't know why a team like the cards wouldn't want K-rod for their pen down the stretch and not worry about next season.
  7. brewers claimed Preston Guilmet off waivers from the dodgers http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/players/playerpage/2040032/preston-guilmet according to Ken Rosenthall
  8. pretty sure the return is small but thats fine.
  9. Pedro Martinez would like a word. The guy I first thought of was Mike Boddicker. Not certain how good of a comparison that is, and maybe it's more the Orioles connection. I was a kid when he was pitching, but I remember him as a smaller guy with good control who used deceptive pitch speeds to get hitters out. I'm not saying he can't succeed. Look at tim lincecum, who had a pretty darn good control undersized. He also had great numbers in triple A. I think he is a probaby a young version of Mike Fiers. I am not saying i hate the trade, but probably my expectations were increased by Parra's hot July.
  10. i agree, a 150 lb pitcher is all we could get?
  11. here is the link http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/orioles-to-acquire-gerardo-parra.html
  12. i don't hate them as much as i thought i would. i still don't like the small numbers on the front of the jersey. I think a cream jersey that said "cream city" would have been a cool alternate
  13. better view of alternates
  14. there is an election for a new alderman next month, carpenter is completely against the arena and borkowski hasn't stated a position that i have heard. not sure if this will affect the vote outcome or not. something to watch.
  15. new arena will not have ice, due to the increase in cost to add ice. The majority of admirals games have far lower attendance than capacity of the UWM arena. Admirals would also avoid a 2 dollar ticket surcharge. Probably means the end of concert nights though. Admirals also would have much lower rent and a larger share in concessions. I think they would be fine not moving to the new arena.
  16. bill passes by a wide margin as expected. while i can't see the city trying to mess this up, the city council has always been my biggest concern.
  17. I hope so, Barka did mention some provisions to get democratic support, but i have no idea how the rest of the caucus feels about them. mainly that the state wouldn't fund an arena in 30 years if the bucks ask for a new arena.
  18. probably shuts down the Fiers / Krod to Toronto speculation?
  19. how about April 22, 2006, brewers tie an MLB record with 5 homers in 1 inning, beating the reds 11-0; only to loose 11-0 the next day... http://scores.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=260422108 which obviously has nowhere the significance of the games down the stretch in 2008 / 2011 or the payoff games.
  20. tomorrow is the day that the assembly starts debating the stadium. I always felt that the city council will be the hardest part, as i could see them changing the bill to sweeten the deal for the city, thus putting the whole bill in jeopardy. i would assume that this wouldn't be going to the floor so soon after the senate passing it, if they didn't have the votes. With so much bi-partisan support in the senate, i would assume the assembly would follow suit.
  21. seems like a pretty good haul for 2 months of Cueto. just like the sabathia trade though, teams like KC need to do it when they think they have a chance, knowing that they will pay for it year later just like the brewers are now.
  22. i think that is a great idea. it never seemed right that teams like the Yankees and cards would consistently get multiple compensatory picks while still being active on the FA market.
  23. i don't think there is a soul who thinks that they entire uniform package isn't light years better than everything they had since 1993, no matter how the alternates look. Without knowing your age, I think in general older people will prefer the white and greens, while younger people would prefer the black ones. just a guess.
