  1. the problem i see with trading bogut is that quality free agents don't come to milwaukee. Bogut has signed an extension. Do you really think Jennings will re-up with milwaukee after his rookie comments after what he said after melo's first game with new york? I'm fine with rebuilding but time after time teams that trade stars for draft picks don't come up ahead. last season was a lost cause due to injuries, i think you add Thompson and see if things go better next year. also what are you guys thinking at 40, i think Jimmy Butler is the type of player that fits well in Skiles system.
  2. do you guys that want bogut traded know how few good centers there are in the league, while he got hurt the last 2 years he is still atleast in the top 10 in the league it is so much easier to get a pg. there isn't a center in the draft that the bucks could draft at #2 and contribute in 2011-12.
  3. to me bogut is the only untouchable. i'd trade jennings and the 10th for the 2nd and 20th, but you need to keep bogut and build around him, especially after he signed the extension to commit to here.
  4. i'm sure it will be defelice to get the call, but once saito is ready who gets sent down. Estrada may be the choice if Marcum was healthy. My guess is that Dillard would have to be the guy to go, who has struggled a little of late.
  5. hopefully its saito that gets the called, if marcum needs to go on the DL (hopefully not) i'd like Defelice to get the call.
  6. bump, since the draft is just about a week away. i still like the morris pick. i think burks or klay thompson could help them. still intrigued by Biyombo but he is basically larry sanders v2.0.
  7. not sure why the brewers waited that long, he wasn't hitting and his defense was not making up for it.
  8. i thought mcgehee's look more like lucroy than mcgehee. i liked the axford one, the other 2 were subpar.
  9. i just did some poking around MLS, the smallest market is Columbus, which averages 10K at their last home game. I don't see Milwaukee getting 10000 at a game especially since the brewers are the focus of the city in the summertime. There isn't much going on in Columbus in the summertime mls attendances
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=6651634 most likely scenario is houston to the AL West for a natural rivalry with Texas. As a brewer fan I like it. Its not fair that the brewers have to beat out 5 other teams to win the division while the Rangers only have to take out 3. As a baseball fan I don't. This would mean that interleague baseball would have to be played all season. It really takes away the specialness of the couple interleague series teams play during the season. It probably would mean the end of the unbalanced schedule, which is a move that Bud made that really worked out.
  11. is Milwaukee necessarily a tapped-out city, though? we've shown we'll support winning teams, so if our MLS team did well, i think people will start showing up. i doubt a bandwagon necessarily has to hitch to a popular sport yes, remember we are only a metroplotian ciity of 1n Million, much smaller than most major league markets, off of the top of my head we need to support the following (i'm including the arts because the money has to come from somewhere, corporations are the ones that buys luxury boxes for sports team, sponsor sports as well as donate to the arts, they can only give so much especially in a recession and has milwaukee has lost a couple in the past few years Brewers Bucks Admirals Wave Mustangs Marquette UW-Milwaukee Performing arts center Milwaukee Ballet Milwaukee Symphony Milwaukee Pops *i'm not exactly tapped into the arts community but these are the ones i can think of. Venues that hold concerts regularly Tuner Hall Pabst Theater Riverside Theater Milwaukee Theater Bradley Center US Cellular arena Shank Hall i think thats just the major ones, we do have smaller theaters plus many bars like Linneman's that has shows just about every weekend for a small cover. I don't think cities the size of Milwaukee can say they have that many theaters. My point is that if Miller Coors is expected to sponsor a MLS team the money has to come out of what they give the brewers, the PAC, or whatever.
  12. i think an NHL team would survive because there is a hockey following in the city. Also obviously more people would go to NHL games than toe AHL games since the level of competition is better. I don't see any evidence that there is anything but a minimal following of soccer in Milwaukee. Also thats not my main point. I think we should focus on taking care of the teams that are established here instead of adding more facilities and franchises to an already tapped out market IMO.
  13. Fielder is not a lock fondy only because of the strength of the 1B position. Braun is the only lock. I agree Weeks and Marcum are near locks, and Yo and Lucroy deserve consideration. I will be surprised if the brewers get 4 all stars.
  14. also those who want an MLS team only need to look at how few people went to Milwaukee Rampage and Wave United games. I know the facilities were not great but the MLS was not formed yet and it was the top soccer league in the US and Canada. I would think that if MLS would survive here they should have atleast drew 1000 a game.
  15. The Bucks have a following? This isn't the 1970s and 80s.That was the argument people used when Miller Park was getting fought over. I hope that Kohl focuses his energies on getting something done. It would be the ultimate irony if the Bucks left because they couldn't get a new building when their owner contributed (I think) $50 million to build the same type of facility an hour away.I didn't say a brewer sized following but there is one, its not like the admirals that has about 1000 solid fans and the wave who have about 500. I know there aren't many bucks fans on this board, but I think most people that care about the city of milwaukee, like myself, believe that having the bucks is a good thing and that having a new arena would help the image of the city.
  16. per mlb trade rumors first managerial causality of the year, wasn't expecting it to be the athletics doing it, but something that to be done after loosing 9 in a row while have modest preseason expectations.
  17. As far as the Bucks go. I couldn't care less if they moved. The NBA doesn't interest me at all. while you may not, and while i am not as big follower of the bucks as i am the brewers and packers, the bucks do bring value to the city. They bring money to hotels and restraunts downtown, they also bring a spotlight to the city. There is something to be said for being a major league town in 2 sports to separate us from other communities with similar populations.
  18. we are on the verge of loosing a team with established roots in the city that has a following and we want to build a soccer stadium?, lets focus on getting an area under the park east freeway for the bucks, admirals, and marquette instead of messing around with something that i don't think would do well here.
  19. last year i went on a thursday afternoon and we parked on the street about a mile from wrigley. makes it easier to leave after the game too.
  20. where are you guys seeing these cheap tickets? i went to stubhub and the lowest i saw was 18 bucks for 500 level tickets, which is face. i am going on thursday but we don't have tickets yet.
  21. going on thursday, looking at greinke vs garza
  22. i think they are just taking the best player, it seems like all 4 players are rated higher than where they were drafted. After "gutting" the system in the offseason, i think the brewers just need to get the best players in the fold
  23. boknowsball thanks for the comparison it makes me sleep easier.
  24. our scouts have been on these players for years, i think we need to trust in that they know what they are doing. Lets let the brewers get these 2 pitchers signed and see how they do before rushing to judgement. They aren't the 2 players i would have took but the brewers scouts have seen them pitch way more than anyone here on this board.
  25. i think you have to be happy, by giving up the players you did this offseason, the brewers need to look at college players for the first couple rounds i think to get the farm systems rank up.
