  1. its an upgrade over what we have, but I'd still like to see Doug try to do better.
  2. from Haudricourt: Melvin told me earlier this year if anything happened to Weeks, Farris would be his replacement. A fourth-round draft pick in 2007 out of of Loyola Marymount, he is considered a defensive whiz ready for the majors in that department. doesn't look like much can be read into this move http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/126317133.html
  3. it could just be that Green only has 28 games at 2nd base and Farris is their full time 2nd baseman. Hopefully this is a temporary move, and is a stopgap before a trade is made. I agree that the move doesn't make much sense though.
  4. there is a 40 man roster spot open now by trading nieves, unless melvin has something in the pipeline, greene makes the most sense as a fill in. I am sure wilson will get some at bats at 2nd now.
  5. that has hurt the ego, i don't remember anyone being sold for a dollar
  6. http://www.pisamba.com/ri...-Fever-Go-Brewers-_47132 finally found a way to get the ringtone, if anyone is interested...
  7. bad sign for the braves playoff chances, any idea if Nieves was acquired for AAA fodder or to backup in Atlanta?
  8. i think it will be the greatest weekend of sports news, but not the greatest sports weekend. I don't think you can compare the trade deadline and the start of nfl free agency to superbowl weekend or the world series because of the gravity of the later. It should be fun though. I plan on going to atleast saturday and maybe sunday at miller park, following free agency and the deadline while there. There is also the huge fedor - hendo fight on sat night too to look forward to.
  9. depends on what they want, i wouldn't give up a thornburg or peralta for him, but if they want a midlevel prospect to save some cash i'd be fine with that. i don't see them wanting wolf since the dodgers are broke and would be looking to shed salary not take some on.
  10. Five years from now, no one will remember Amy Winehouse. i don't agree with this. Back to Black is one of my all time favorite albums. She also did a cover of "Valerie" with Mark Ronson that was awesome. I know she went off of the deep end in 2006 after that CD came out, but she was very talented, even though she wasted all of it.
  11. pm sent, this shirts seems alot better for 15 bucks than the tony plush one that the brewers are offering at miller park for 30.
  12. i think johnson would be a great choice to replace gomez and doubt he would cost much, i'd prefer him over milledge. i can't see a reason either, the brewers and reds pulled off the edmonds trade last year (even though the rivalry with the reds isn't like it with the cubs, but its still intradivision)
  13. not a big deal for me, i have already been to 22 game, i'd rather see people like tommyboy get to go to his first game of the year. plus i'll share the setiment on cub fans, even though i don't think there will be a big presence, but we shall see.
  14. anyone get these, i got out of the virtual ticket room by 9:02, so i was excited but kept on getting booted back to the ticket selection screen, and eventually got the message that the request could not be fulfilled by 9:07, until the tickets.com site crashed.
  15. i really wish someone would do it, most of tv news is unwatchable, i think john mccullough would be shocked to know that ch 4 features dirty dining and speed patrol on a regular basis.
  16. Jay Mohr recently started a podcast and the first 3 have been awesome, alot of inside tv and comedy and hilarious. debuted as #1 on itunes. i have always been a fan of his and him and sklaar brothers are tops in my weekly rotations. http://smodcast.com/channels/mohr-stories/
  17. i'm going to try to get 4 for wednesday, this is a very awesome move for a company moving into the milwaukee area after taking over a milwaukee based company. i hope they continue to try to support the community. that being said i'm sure its going to be tough to get them and you will be stuck in the virtual waiting room for a while. i'm hoping to be able to log in 5 minutes early and continue to refresh to give myself the best chance of scoring tickets.
  18. i'd rather have furcal, also i think since the dodgers are broke, he can be had below market price, just like the brewers did for k-ron.
  19. he is struggling since his demotion, if they do bring up an OF, i'd like to see Gindl. I know that the players on the mets list probably won't be called up which may cause Gindl to be eliminated. Green would be a great call up, but the OF position would be weak.
  20. As for players that could be sent down/cut, Counsell should be cut/retire. Wilson could be sent down if you still want Counsell. I'd be fine with bringing up Green and DFA'ing Wilson. I'm fairly confident that the brewers can get a player just as good as Wilson off of the WW or for a low level prospect if Green fizzles. While his numbers don't justify a major league roster spot, i just don't see them getting rid of Counsell.
  21. monty, while you premise is right, i disagree with your take. When Weeks, Fielder, Braun etc were called up the brewers had no post season asperations and were building for the future. I think that all changed in 2007, when Melvin finally decided the team was good enough to make the playoffs. Most teams with that mindset will trade away prospects for 1 year rentals. I don't think it has anything to do with Brad Nelson. He was simply misused by the team because its almost impossible for a kid to come up to the bigs and only be a pinch hitter. Probably the problem is that what position player are you going to send down or DFA for Green. 2 weeks ago i would have said Kotsay but you need him for Braun insurance. Counsell is still a veteran leader, on a team with few, so you need him on your team regardless of his struggles. I don't think you can just drop McGehee as you have no idea what Green is going to do in the bigs, and to put a 24 year old kid in the middle of pennant race is going to be tough. Same thing goes for Yuni B. Threfore unless you loose an arm in the pen and drop dillard or someone, I just don't see it happening right now.
  22. seems like the exact player we should have targeted, i'm sure doug will get someone though.
  23. WOW, its a shocker. I hope it doesn't change how RR uses him, but atleast it gives him more options if Ax struggles. I still want to see Ax close the majority of games because he has been better this season.
  24. thanks for the clarifcation turk, i figured it was the last brewer pitcher to be in the game but wanted to make sure.
