  1. i was able to get 4 terrace reserved seats for fan appreciation night for 8 dollars total on ebay. there are definitely deals but there are people still asking for am arm and a leg for tickets.
  2. happy to see this but macha refuses to put in the young players. Axford, Gamel and now Butler has yet to get into the game.
  3. here is the problem, if they don't have a better candidate to replace him, i'd give him another year. We were all happy to get rid of Yost and they brought in 3 retreads and we picked the best one. Most brewer fans were very happy with him when we had the best record in the NL. Weeks went down and everything went to heck. I'd give him another year.
  4. well i think the season will start with a bang as andy struggles with hetrosexuality and michael gossips around the office.
  5. the thing that irks me is that we were told that that jefferson was traded to sign CV or sessions as they both walked. If Jennings becomes a top level pg, than the moves this offseason are fine, but if not, there maybe some coming after hammond's head. I know skiles likes ridnour, but i'd rather have a pg tandem of sessions and jennings.
  6. picked it up last week and really enjoyed it. the problem with most baseball movies is that they are the same, there is a crummy team, something happens and they get good. I don't want to give it up, but this movie is nothing like this, but is still centered around baseball. I agree with Patrick425's review of the movie. Very good.
  7. since they are running out of players, maybe play off of the 40th anniversary and allow fans to vote for their favorite player from each decade. that way i'd finally get a bobble of a player from the 90's era of the club, which i'd love.
  8. i don't think the bucks will ever get a star via free agency for that reason, but that doesn't mean they are doomed for mediocrity forever. They drafted Bogut who is atleast an upper echelon center when healthy and extended his rookie deal. Hakim Warrick had other offers and chose to come here. The bucks, just like the brewers, need to draft well or they will be the clippers though.
  9. well atleast the fact that hammond has said nothing all weekend could mean they are trying to figure out a way to match.
  10. you can't match it without getting rid of payroll. in these economically uncertain times, Kohl is not going to pay the luxury tax, which i can understand. Trading Ridnour won't work either (although i'd support keeping sessions over him). You would take salary back and it would become a wash. Signing Hakim Warrick guaranteed that sessions was not coming back for more than the QO.
  11. thanks for the heads up, i gave it a try too.
  12. the promising news is that if RS takes the QO, he is a restricted FA next year and the bucks will better be able to afford him with Ridnour's contract off of the books.
  13. The pen isn't a huge question mark - it was their strength this year until the wear of the lack of quality starting pitching since mid-June taxed them. Coffey, DiFelice, Stetter, Weathers, McClung was good until he was forced into the rotation, Smith was just fine, and maybe Vargas has found his niche in the bullpen and could be a decent long man. what i meant by that is that the brewers don't know who their closer is going to be. I think the setup and middle relief has been fine this year. The 7-9th innings has not been the issue this year. If they move Coffey to the closers role that means they need someone else who can shut down the door in the 7th or 8th.
  14. the problem with doing this is that half of the position are up for grabs. I can say with certainly Braun will be in left, Fielder at 1st, Escobar at SS and most likely Weeks at 2nd. Who is playing center, right, catcher or 3rd is really not known. Then when you go to the rotation i think yo is a good 1, bush a 3, soup a 4, and parra a 5. They really need a #2 which is not easy to get I know. Regarding the pen, that is a huge question mark. Right now you are looking at Coffey closing, Weathers setting him up, Stetter as your lefty, maybe CV as you long man. The pen needs huge upgrades this offseason.
  15. maybe he is talking about a correlation between winning mini-battles within the game (ie making the right pitching sub, getting key hits) and winning the game. i don't know, doesn't make too much sense.
  16. i'd trade Hall for Harang, as while he struggled this year last year he was very good. Really noone else that i know cleared waivers interests me.
  17. not sure why the clippers would give us anything of value, since the bucks have already said they can't match offers above 3 million. Offer him the MLE and get him for nothing else. If i were the bucks i wouldn't take their garbage (talfair) to help them get a player that i think has a lot of value.
  18. no idea, i'd take a protected 1st though for him.
  19. gerry woefel reporting that the bucks and clippers are discussing a sign and trade that would possibly include sebestain telfair and a draft pick for sessions. EDIT: link
  20. selection was poor at the book store so i picked up the summer of '49 by David Halberstam. Seems very interesting and i am a fan of his work.
  21. he is a better option than swindle, who is the definition of a bbq lefty.
  22. read moneyball, loved it. Thanks for the maraniss book. if they have it, i'm getting it.
  23. thanks guys for the suggestions, if the david maraniss book is at barnes and noble i'll have to pick it up based on jim's suggestions. I did ready baseball between the numbers and its really good.
  24. no i have an imac.
  25. i want to pick up a baseball book to bring on a camping trip next week, but would love a suggestion from you guys out there. I really would like to stay focused on either books about old time baseball or statistical analysis books. Has anyone read a really good one to recommend that i can pick up at the bookstore this weekend?
