    what i don't like is Melvin is being more forward about his negotiations that ever before. When he made an offer to Schmidt, nobody knew about it until after he signed with LA. It could mean that he senses that the fans are getting frustrated with the lack of movement, and wants to give us something, even if he is unsuccessful at signing him . It doesn't seem though that this is a token offer, to say you made one though, like has been done in the past.

    i'm starting to get excited about this too. Like I said before maybe the chance to face his former team about 4 times could intrigue him along with the young talent on the team as well as the 10 million dollars. We could just pull this off.

    i know there is alot of good viewing tonite between the brewers game and the packers game, but for those that missed last week's christmas epsisode it is reairng tonite at 7, its very good as others have stated.

    this thread is starting to get out of control, and it looks like that Suppan is going to be waiting awhile to sign, so it looks like it will keep on growing. 20000+ hits so far, that is impressive.

    While it still would make more sense for him to sign with the Giants to replace the lost of Schmidt, I would be estasitc to sign him, and I wouldnt care if sheets feelings are hurt, He will get his when he is a FA. Suppan may be one of the biggest FA signings in team history and would signifiy others believe the team is on the right track.

    also the chance to pitch against the cards more often may appeal to him.

    the thing we have to our advantage is that he has always been a midwest guy (kc, pittsburgh, st, louis), so maybe he could be serious about pitching here.

    id put Yo ahead of Braun only because of Braun's defense. Id put Fermaint on that list. Also id keep Inman ahead of Jeffress right now. He put on a stellar show in A ball this year.

    Jackson has atleast shown some poise on the mound, to prove he deserves a chance at a spot. My guess is that that Sheets, Capuano, Bush, Villaneuva, Vargas will be the starting 5 as of right now, but that can change in spring training. My personal opinion is that we should go after an arm in the pen instead, because the rotation because the FA options are not as good as what we got.

    I agree it is a great book, it should be around around January 30th according to amazon.com. Baseball Prospectus and the Prospect Handbook are 2 essential books for me to get ready for the upcoming season.

    the only game i have right now is madden and its ok. I want to get second opinion or need for speed for Christmas. Second Opinion would be cool only because it would be different from any video game that I ever played.

    well right now if i am an opposing gm i am not giving up too much to get him cause you simply don't know what you are going to get. Maybe the offseason will get him back on track and he will regain is 05 form

    i wouldn't trade him only cause he has the potential to turn things around and you won't get equal value for him right now.

    i agree while it may be logical to say that if we trade jenks and clark, mench would atleast platoon in left, i am sure that is an orgnaizational decision and not Gord's mullings to Martinez. That channel has been awesome today though with all the baseball coverage.

    that is a nice contract, it would be a great trade providing we can ship some of our extra contracts for some pen help

    As of right now I would not make the trade only because we have too many outfielders and not enough bull pen arms. That doesnt mean we can't trade a few OF's, get some arms in the pen and I would be all for the trade.

    Was listening to baseball this morning on xm, and Buck Martinez stated that he talked to Gord Ash recently and he stated that his starting outfield as of now is Mench, Hall, and Hart. I wouldn't be surprised than if Jenkins is gone by Thursday. I have no idea how Mench has earned the rite for an every day job, but it seems that the way they are going to go
