  1. At some point you have to think Trevor starts thinking about his legacy. He owes Milwaukee nothing at this point, he gave us a quality year. Im assuming he doesn't need the $, but if I were him.. it's time to go. He's tried, he's 42... there's no shame in being done. Retire Trevor, we thank you for the good year you gave us.
  2. lcb, i havent rec'd a PM yet. I'll check back later. Thanks. There's a lot of chatter about Gord Ash and his past successes, I was wondering how he has impacted and what kind of authority he has with the current team.
  3. I'm curious to know how much input and hand in building this team that Gord Ash has had with the Milwaukee Brewers? What is his focus, what does he do day-to-day. Can anyone in the know enlighten me?
  4. After the draft could the crew swing a 3-way deal involving Grienke/Gordon to the crew, Fielder to Team 3/Parra, Arnett and Gindl to KC, Team 3: 2 High end Prospects to KC.
  5. 4IP, 4H, 1ER, 4BB... Manny got lucky. He will have to be better next outing. Shaking the starting rust off is good though. He will need to be stretched out slowly.
  6. I dont think the Mets would do this.
  7. I agree, it is a little bit too early. This team has talent, however, they lack any sort of consistency that you require to win a bulk of games over a 162 game schedule. I really do not see any type of unifying factors coming on the horizon for this squad. I am of the opinion that it is time to blow the ship up and start over with pieces that do not fit a long term strategy. Basically, If your name isn't McGehee, Braun, Escobar, or Gallardo you should put your house up for sale. I would be more encouraged as a fan if they started trading assets that arent going to be future pillars of this team as opposed to sitting here hoping for miracles and watching value of these assets decline.
  8. Why do people suggest that Rickey Weeks has been a bust. This isnt the NFL, anytime a guy gets to the MLB and performs decently makes the pick solid. Sure the guy has gotten hurt, but he is still young and as a previous poster suggested.. look at brandon phillips. Heck, I'd argue that Weeks has a little different tool set than Phillips that could make him a more valuable offensive player than Phillips "if" he puts it together in a similiar fashion. Moving him for the sake of moving him makes little sense... stick with the kid, he works hard / has the talent / and as last season suggested could be primed for a breakout if he stays healthy.
  9. With the addition of CC Sabathia, and the likely, but not done yet exchange of Mike Cameron and Bill Hall, or even the potential Ben Sheets signing... Does the new Yankee Stadium get renamed to Miller Park East? Or... the House that Bernie Brewer Built? It's pretty ridiculous, I dont remember so many big/moderate name players going from team A to team B in a while. It's almost like a Reggie White thing... one guy goes and his friends ultimately follow whether by trade or Free Agency. All 4 of these players could end up costing almost 240-250 million dollars over the lifetime of their contracts (expected). Not to mention in 3 years when they will in all likelihood be bidding on the big guy too.
  10. and here I thought the Yankees were one of three teams to lose money in 2007. Guess that enormous team value goes a long way. I wonder how much the Yankees would sell on the open market right now. It's gotta be alot higher than Forbes values them.
  11. good deal. Im hearing on the radio that Bill Hall is going to be a part of the deal. If they can get Kennedy or Hughes, that would be nice.
  12. hey, while were at it.. can we give them Suppan too? The Yankees want to become Milwaukee East.... lets give them another albatross contract.
  13. I actually like the deal. Paying Mike Cameron 10 million is silly. Even if it's a salary dump, we get a differnent kind of player who plays good defense, doesnt cost us much and has nice upside still. Cameron's obscene strikeout rate hurt us as much as his HR helped.
  14. McClung and Cruz in 7th and 8th. Im down with that.
  15. there comes a point where signing Sabathia to a longterm deal is just foolish. Anything about 22M/year is foolish to me. There are too many risks with pitchers. Especially 300lb+ pitchers that have logged as many innings as CC has the last few years. He is a beast on the mound when he is right, but for that kind of money you need that Beast every day for 4-5 years.. whatever it is. And the odds of him doing that are not good given his size and the duration of the contract he will demand.
  16. I think 2009 is the year that Prince Fielder gets dealt. Especially if the Brewers are not in the playoff race come July... or someone blows them away with an offer this winter. I like Fielder, but versus Hardy, he is going to want to back the Brinks Truck up get PAID. I doubt Fielder signs a deal now for security, whereas I could see Hardy doing it with his past injuries as a reminder of what can happen.
  17. I think we should be looking to reasonably extend JJ at this point. If he wont do it.. then you look to deal him. I think alot of this will depend on the economics of whether or not it is viable to keep him here. If he will sign an adequate 4 year deal.. you keep him. If not you might have to explore looking to deal him. But I still dont think you automatically assume an unproven talent will surpass JJ in results at the MLB level. JJ is pretty damn good and getting better.
  18. You'd think a 26 year old all-star SS has very good value around the league. Especially coming off another solid season last year. Why we'd move him? I have no clue. You dont move a 26 year old all-star for an unproven talent.
  19. my rituals include: timesfour.com / brewers section every other day: here.
  20. If Hardy was given a 4 year deal.. to buy up the rest of his arbitration plus a few years... why wouldnt he mind moving to 2b or 3b. Logically he will end up at one or the other in his career anyhow.
  21. and the speed argument is BS. They will be checking people more closely and with the new rules.. more people will be stopped and more delays will ensue. That argument fails if they try to make it.
  22. my best advice. Invest in some cargo shorts with big pockets. You can get a 20oz bottle (captain morgan or jack) in one pocket. The other leg pocket go with a sandwich or two. Both pockets you can stuff whatever else your heart desires into them.... a plastic bag of chips... licorice... whatever. Honestly, I'd just bring in the 20oz captain to the game.. I really wouldn't bring in any food, because I usually got a brat or an italian.. and a pretzel. If they change that policy, I'd be more apt to start smuggling food in.. why? Because I cant stand it when businesses try to scrape every last dime out of loyal people.
  23. Yeah, there is nothing wrong with the Duo. Anderson is a much better baseball guy that I thought he'd be. Or at least more polished on the play-by-play side than I ever thought he'd be coming over from golf. Rock is Rock. He is a big doofus, but he works decent in the role. He knows alot about the game and he doesn't come across as abrasive or condescending. It's weird seeing him become a semi-icon at Miller Park though. Seeing a large crowd of brewer fans at summerfest chant "Rock..Rock..Rock" was pretty funny too. I never thought that he would catch on like he has around here. As for Davey Nelson... I don't mind him either. He obviously knows the game very well being an ex-coach. He might search for a word or two on some nights on the air... but come on, he knows what he is talking about he's been in the game for decades. I think he is fine as well, I have no trouble listening to him nightly. I think their crew works great together. We are lucky to have an entertaining crew like this.
  24. Prince needs to get back on the Cheeseburgeroids, enough of this deep fried Oreo garbage. In a study taken in 2008 done on Prince Fielder, the results have shown that real 50HR men eat meat.
  25. I dont know.. I understand the behavior is weird... but.... If you plan on going to a baseball game... there is a possibility you will run into a group of drunken idiots having their own kind of fun. I think almost everyone here can recount a time in your past where you had just too much fun in public. It doesn't bother me and someone complaining about it short of injury or grave verbal abuse is probably getting upset just to get upset. Let it go.
