ESPN Insider - Yay or Nay?

I've been going back and forth for a little while over whether or not to sign up for ESPN Insider. Does anyone here have it? Is it worth the money? Is it essentially just news/rumors/stats that I could find on other free MLB blogs?

I got it for free a few years ago with my ESPN Magazine subscription, I later cancelled the Mag but they offered to let me keep the insider for something like $20/year. I always mean to cancel it but they auto renew it every time and once they renew it they won't cancel it so I end up keeping it for another year. I don't find it that useful, it was nice during the NFL draft and the rumors section during the deadline activity but that is really it. I don't think it is really worth it. Especially, now that I end up gettimg more baseball news via this site than anywhere. The other annoying thing is ESPN's website is so full of add ons with videos and ads that it loads slow and is a pain to navigate so I rarely go there anymore.

it used to be WAY more worth it 2-4 years ago. at one point, like 1/3 of their articles were insider articles. now, it seems like there are much less insider articles. i say Nay

nah, its mostly a collection of articles that can be found elsewhere for free. If you want to read gammon's blogs but i think most of the content can be found here as well.

I get it as part of my subscription to the magazine which has gotten to the point you can read it in 30 minutes so not sure if i will renew it or not. But with ESPN blocked by my work I barely read anything on ESPN anymore unless its a front page headline on my blackberry. But before it was blocked there wasn't much that made it worth the cost if I was paying for it outside of the magazine.

Last I saw it was still free with teh mag subscruption and you can that for like $10 different places. But it didn't come with my free subs to ESPN Desportes mag

I don't have it, but a year back one of their insider articles was a JS Online article that they linked to. I thought it was pretty shady to charge people to read AP articles that were free elsewhere.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I've written things (player news tidbits) through RotoWire that ESPN has tossed into their insider section. Yes, the guy with the Guy Smiley avatar and animated Jungle Book quote in his sig. The only reason ESPN Insider is "special" is because you have to pay for it. I wouldn't.

That's pretty hilarious. Really, especially for baseball, I would think you could get all the news you want on a site like MLB Trade Rumors.

For me, it's worth it just for Buster Olney's blog. I don't miss the money and I get more than .05 cents a day value out of Olney's blog.
