Macha, like Yost, has shown he is pretty much never going to pinch hit for anyone other than a pitcher. I don't know if that is particularly uncommon among NL managers. OTOH, unlike Yost, he is much more willing to make mid-inning pitching changes.

Why? I don't see the problem with the strategy of putting their best hitter on and going after someone else using a fresh arm.

Absolutely not. The last thing I would do is pitch to Pujols with men on 2nd and 3rd when 1st base is open and a rookie is batting behind him...

Parra faired pretty well I think. Hopefully he doesn't take the collar in this one. In my opinion, he has a bit of the Capuano syndrome going on, in that he's pitched better than his record reflects, not that he's not without his awful outings.
