I was upset with Macha for pulling Burns right after letting him bat in the 5th. That seems like a mistake that an AL manager would have made. Burns only had 90 pitches and it should have gone straight from Burns to Stetter.

I like many things about Ken Macha but this isn't the first time he's pulled a starter too soon with an already depleted bullpen.

No exxageration there, it looks like those two "gnats" have only made one out between the two of them all day.

Not sure I understand the Cuddyer walk either. There are 2 outs, we don't need to set up the DP. Crede has been killing us, I'd rather face Cuddyer.

Edit: Well one risky move this inning worked out.

Prince wins a home run inning contestant some $$. (I didn't catch the jackpot).

It had to have been the minimum jackpot since McGehee hit one earlier in the inning.

Since Davey Nelson called this a must win game, does that mean the season is about to be over?

Yes, McGehee's won someone $400 I believe; Fielder's was only worth $50.

Crede has been swinging the bat pretty good against us this series, not sure why we walked Cuddyer to get to him. Hope it works, let's go Mark.
Macha (for whatever reason) intentionally walked Matthew Tolbert twice in this series. Tolbert is batting all of .160. I don't understand either.

Between Span and Gomez, the Twins lead-off spot is 5 for 10, with 3 walks, and 6 runs scored this series.

Narveson should be a mop up man and nothing more. He doesnt even belong on this roster much less with the game on the line. I really thought at 4-3 that we would win.
The game is far from over, and that post toes the line of the "game over" rules we have for IGTs. The Twins getting two runs back is discouraging, but IGTs aren't designed to be vent threads.

Brewers' relievers, take note:

When the offense gets you back in the game, you are supposed to go out there and put up a zero. This does NOT include walking the leadoff man. For examples, see: Minnesota Twins...

bklyn's post isn't a useless or over-the-top vent, it's a 100% IGT-worthy reaction to the game being played.

Yeah, it's discouraging to see the 13th pitcher facing the top of the order in the seventh, just after scoring three times to make it a one-run game. We are admittedly depleted in the pen right now but that seems like playing with fire.

I have really liked how Macha has handled the bullpen this year. The move with Narveson was one of the few times I disagreed with him, but I like Smith pitching here. Hopefully he can be the first to retire Span all day

The part I took offense to was "I really thought that we would win," which carries a bit of "this game is over" feeling with it. If that wasn't bklyn's intent, I apologize.

To be clear, no one's being punished, and it wasn't meant to be an iron-first crackdown -- it was just a request to avoid the insinuation that the game was over after 6.5 innings. I'm just as frustrated with the way the bullpen has performed as anyone else, and I'm also questioning why Macha would bring in Narveson before Stetter. I realize that the IGT's aren't much fun when they're heavily moderated, but they're not much fun when the game is assumed to be over when the home team still has 9 outs to play with.

Amazing. This team really can't expect to win until they stop doing stupid stuff like walking the leadoff guy 3 times and giving up 2 hits to a guy batting .100 this month.

Mauer and Morneau are absolute RBI beasts and our pitching staff can't seem to keep the guys in front of them off the basepaths. It seems like the Twins come with the same formula every game (put a pitcher out there with less than stellar stuff but who can hit the zone, get guys on in front of Mauer and Morneau and let them hit em in) and the Crew can't seem to figure it out. Actually, that formula has done a pretty good job of making the Brewers look foolish the last couple of years.

*sigh* I really used to like it around here, but this is out of control controlling.

Wow, look at that. Can you imagine being told these would be our pitchers on June 25th on April 7?

I don't think many could've predicted it, that's for sure. For what it's worth, I thought Burns had a very solid outing. The fact that the Brewers are only trailing by 2 with that group being the day's pitchers is pretty incredible, too...that probably goes to show how huge Burns working out of that bases loaded situation was.

Exactly. You wouldn't want to change your opinion during the game because the use of the word "thought" is inexcusable.

I feel the same way. He made a perfectly valid and very good point about a decision by the manager and his decision to put the worst pitcher in our bullpen in a one run game. I mean if we're cracking down on posts like that, why even have a game thread?
