ESPN boards are now completely useless

Hey guys, I think you are going to begin seeing a lot more of me around here again. I have been posting on the ESPN boards but am now defecting because things are out of control over there. Have any of you guys tried posting there lately? Have things always been this bad over there?

Anyways, I am glad to be back and looking forward to talking Brewers again! Only 4 games back and a nice schedule to work with this month! Go Crew!!

Ugh, don't defile my post by mentioning Beast light.

edit: Of course, I mean Beast light--the Beer. Not Beast Light--the BF.net poster

i started out on the ESPN and brewers.com boards, but they drove me over here years ago(back in march of 04 i think). i haven't looked back yet. Once you get used to the quality of people/threads here, you never go back.

I lurked on the brewers.com board for a year or more until one day, maybe 3 years ago, somebody there went off on Brian and told him he should stay at his uppity board or some such thing like that. That was the first day I found out about Brewerfan and I never went back to the brewers.com boards.

Seeing the 3 comments ESPN typically shows after an article is about all I need to know there would be no reason to hang out around there.

Agreed all the way down the line.

In fact, when you look at most other team's "version" of bf.net, you realize how good we have it here in terms of quality posters and moderation. I've spent a little time lurking at DodgerBlues this week, and uff da...

I found BF in the early part of 2003. That was the end of ESPN for me. For some dark humor I'll wade into the black hole of the JS boards. About 10-minutes is all I can take.

I have been on this board since 2001, and I can say the one good thing about the espn boards is when I first learned of brewerfan.COM on them! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I found this site back in the beginning because AOL's fan boards were going through chaos. I think molitorfan and brewmann came with, and I'm sure there were others

I was referred to this site back in '06 by a friend of mine. I don't even think he posts here anymore, though. By the sound of it, I'm glad I never was a part of either the JSOnline or ESPN boards.

I posted here on and off as well as the ESPN boards but will now be directing my full attention here. The ESPN boards are cluttered with trolls, 3 in particular, who spend their entire days stirring up trouble by saying things like we should trade Braun for Zimmerman or claiming that Gallardo will never be a true ace like Suppan. Even worse, many serious posters have not caught on to their act and offer debate on these topics. If people would simply ignore them, they would disappear rather quickly, IMO. Oh well, on to greener pastures I guess!

Yeah, I came here in either '03 or '04 (don't remember exactly) from the brewers.com fan forum (seems like that was a popular timeframe for people coming here, I guess). I got sick of all the lame joke posters over there and general lack of any solid information. I actually did hear about this place on that other forum, though. Someone said something like "Go to brewerfan.net if you want some real information."

Glad I made the switch.

About the only place I pay attention to ESPN anymore is Neyer's reopened to the public blog and the comments there are fine but given thats a very self selecting group.

I found my way here from the Brewers.com board. What a zoo that was. At first I was quite intimidated, and am still amazed at how hardcore and knowledgable many of the posters here are. I mostly just stay quiet and try to keep up.

'The ESPN board goes in cycles. The "founding founders" of brewerfan were all initially ESPN refugees as well."

...I'm resisting a Final Five reference, here.

Complaints about this board actually bring in membership. Last year, we got a membership application that said this: "I was a poster on the [name omitted] forum and learned about bf.net from a poster named [name omitted] always complaining about it. ;-)"

I've always been a believer in every message board having its place in the grand scheme of things, but I've never been able to make it through reading more than a topic or two over at ESPN.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I logged 5,000 posts at the brewers.com board back in the day. It was more enjoyable back then because the Brewers were bad and there weren't many people that posted there. I was also around 15-16 years old at the time. Ajay, Brian, and Casey used to post there frequently at that time as well, so we sometimes had intelligent conversations.

Sometimes it is still fun to go over to the Cubs mlb board after a loss. It is dangerous to put a large number of fair-weather fans in one place.
