If he has another monster year and they miss the playoffs again, does he get it this year? It's a pretty pathetic team outside of he and Kershaw, so I think that is the most likely scenario. I thought he got hosed last year (even though it was great that a Brewer won - don't get me wrong there) and I hate the idea that it's his problem that the rest of his team sucks in the eyes of some voters. It wasn't as bad as Ted Williams losing to Joe Gordon in 1942 or anything, but I still felt he was deserving of the award.

The dodgers just loaded the bases with no outs, which was followed by strike outs by Kemp and Ethier and then Jaun Rivera pinch hit for Loney and poped out. So the Brewers aren't the only team to waste opportunities like that.
Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

Yup, happens to all teams. I mean, look at the last two games for Brewers' opponents. Cards have 1st and 3rd and no outs and don't score, then the Padres have 2nd and 3rd and no outs and don't score.

I know there was some discussion in yesterdays IGT about Kemp's amazing April. Dave Cameron wrote a nice piece for fangraphs comparing Kemp's April all-time where he shows that "by wRC+, only Bonds in 2004 was better". Pretty good read.

Tough break for the Giants, Pablo Sandoval is out with a broken hamate bone in his wrist.

Wow, I suddenly feel much better about trading him away from my fantasy team yesterday.

At least every identical ESPN show will now have something else to argue about tomorrow besides LeBron and Tebow.

It'll be very sad if Rivera's career ends this way. I could care less about how it affects the Yankees, but as a big baseball fan it's tough to see. It's bad for baseball in general. Terrible way to go out. And even if he comes back, there's always the possibility he could go out on a bad note if he's not the same. Best closer of all-time might be gone for good. And of course it happened while shagging balls in the OF during BP, and not during a game. Freak occurrence. Definitely care a lot way, way less about this than Gamel's ACL tear though. Although it sucks for any athlete to go through this type of injury. Apparently, this has become national news though. Everyone all over twitter and everywhere else is commenting on it. It's pretty crazy. Didn't know people liked Rivera that much universally.

He's honestly about the only longtime Yankee from my lifetime I've ever really liked. And that's probably just because of how insanely good he's been for so long while not appearing to be a d-bag. Pretty awful way to (presumably) end a fantastic career.

Yeah, I'd agree. He's the only Yankee that's hard to hate, because he's such a good guy. Maybe it took him possibly having his career ended by injury for people to come out and admit they like the guy. I don't know.

Any chance the Yankees want K-Rod?

With the way he's been pitching, he's no upgrade at all over David Robertson or whoever else they could use to close. In fact, I'd rather have Robertson, Soriano, Logan, or Wade over K-Rod right now. Especially with his $8 million price tag. Now if K-Rod picks it up a little by the deadline, and a team needs a closer, that's another story. The Yankees don't seem like a team that'll have that need, or see K-Rod as an upgrade.
