Greinke traded to Angels for three prospects; Rangers nearly won the bidding (Latest: revisiting this trade in December 2015; post 481)

Per MLBTradeRumors.com...no details.

[trwi7]

Segura and two AA pitchers.

[razzzorsharp]

Cool, any ideas for whom?

[AZBrewCrew]

WSSP is saying we got Segura and not sure who else back.

[splitterpfj]

Yep, Segura and two arms, not yet named in his post.

[Glennron]

I know he's supposed to be really good defensively, but a career .346 OBP for a 22 year old shortstop is just as encouraging. Wonder who the pitchers are.

[trwi7]

Hope one of the pitchers is Ariel Pena.

[Point Beer Is Best]

Just saw this. What's the ceiling on Segura?

Was really hoping it was going to be to the Rangers...

Can't feel too good about it since our ACE is now gone, but it was going to happen, so I hope this is the ebst package offered.

[dlk9s]

Well, FWIW, Segura was the Angels' #2 pre-season prospect, according to Baseball America (behind Trout). Three AA pitchers, Hellweg, Tillman, and Pena, were 4, 8, and 9 (but we don't know who, if any, are in the package).

EDIT: I think Tillman is in high-A now, but no matter. We'll soon find out.

I'm really surprised Melvin took in AA pitchers. Not disappointed, just surprised. I'm glad they got Segura back.

Says injury prone, but the rest of the book on this kid looks amazing, I'm guessing he starts right out of the gate in 2013!!!!

Glad this is over...

[Glennron]

Haudricourt just retweeted an LAA beat writer saying if Segura's been traded he's yet to be notified because he's about to join the team for stretching...

Anyone know what his injury(ies) were last year?

[Funketown]

Any word on the two pitchers? Segura would be a good pickup but I'd obviously want a couple of plus arms as well.

Segura's about to be "devastated."

[trwi7]

Angels writer guesses Hollweg and Pena are the two pitchers.

[gobrew23]

@MikeDiGiovanna: #Angels SS Jean Segura now coming off field and to dugout. Deal appears to be done. Guess on Aa Ps: Johnny Hellwig and Ariel Pena.

Yeah, going from a team with World Series possibilities to a team that is selling off their best players...

[trwi7]

Rosenthal confirms Hollweg and Pena are the two pitchers.

Rosenthal confirms Hellweg and Pena are the Double-A pitchers.

[fondybrewfan]

I think this is a pretty nice haul, SS of the future for 10 starts of Grienke. Well Done DM Well Done

[Funketown]

From what I read Hellweg is a flamethrower. Anybody know anything about Pena?

[3and2Fastball]

I'm thrilled, Segura is a bigtime SS talent... that ain't easy to find... he hit .294 in AAA this year as a 22 year old, .346 OBP, 33 SB's in 97 games.... this is our new starting SS and soon to be lead-off hitter for the next 4-5-6 years
