Normally I get over even these really bad losses within a couple hours but I'm still gutted right now

Normally I get over the season sometime in August but I'm going to be gutted until spring training starts...

They got so screwed today that I feel like I've been violated. This loss is not on Yost, and it's not really on the Brewers either.

 

And this isn't a loss yet.

Nice to know that the umpires have conspired to steal this game from us. Also nice to see Spurling in the game when we are only down a run. These last two days have been the most depressing in a depressing season all around. We need to dump Ned and find a bullpen if we are going to win the World Series in 08. I am not even angry at this point Im just extremely depressed. This was a team more than capable of making the playoffs yet we found so many ways to lose games, from Yosts lousy in game decisions to costly errors, to lousy choking relief pitchers.

Yeah I was a bit confused by Spurling pitching with a 1 run lead and the season likely on the line. Oh well there is always next year to get frustrated at as Yost pisses it down the tubes for us. Though hopefully the rotation is strong enough next year that we can squeek into the playoffs even with him as manager.

For whatever it's worth, Ned didn't put in Spurling. That was Sveum or Maddox. Still a bit of a questionable move, especially with Chicago owning right now.

He need to find a hitter for the Of to replace jenkins and find a new Manager

I'm sure this will get me called a lot of names, but I don't really care. As soon as the Brewers are mathematically eliminated from postseason contention, I will be rooting for them to lose. The closer the team is to being at or below .500, the more pressure, justification, and likelihood there will be for a replacement of the manager. Higher draft picks don't hurt either. I really think the worse the team finishes this year, the better the outlook for the future will become. I'll gladly take a few losses now for what I perceive to be an opportunity for a brighter tomorrow.

If Ned hasn't already done enough to get fired, a few more losses in largely meaningless games this week won't do it.

 

Oh, and blame Sveum/Maddux for putting Spurling and King in, but they aren't the ones who made the decision to warm them up. That would have been our friend Ned before he got run.

I'm a true fan and I pretty much agree. I would gladly lose the rest of our games to see Yost fired, even if it meant we missed having a winning record on the season. I am beyond thinking he is only a minor problem, he is a well below average manager and its time for a change.

Probably not, but there is still a diffence between being 84-78 vs 80-82 or whatever. Even if it only increases the probability of getting a new manager by 5%, I'd take it. That's how strongly I feel that retaining our current manager will be a detriment to this franchise.

I'm not one to ignore bad officiating that goes my teams' way, so I ask this seriously:

 

When was the last time a really important call went (wrongly) our way?

I don't know how much to blame Nedly for this season. If I'd blame any one person, it'd be Capuano.

 

The way I see it, the GM had one glass number one pitcher and a bunch of legit number four and five pitchers for the rotation. There was no number two man. It was supposed to be Capuano, but every single game he pitched in since May 7 has been a loss. Let me repeat that:

The dude won today as far as I'm concerned. He gave them an excellent start when they needed it. The fact that Claudio Vargas followed him into the game is indeed Ned's fault.

Today, yes. He pitched fine. However, there is something wrong when your designated Number 2 pitcher pitches in 21 straight losses. Is that a small sample size? Is that crazy Vegas odds? What is going on with that?

Cappy has had a rough year, but he's also pitched a good handful or more of great games that he didn't get the win on. His record shouldn't look as abysmall this year as it does.
