Just glad Braun is in there. Too hot to take out right now.

Although he is hitting .000 as a pinch hitter. That makes him a worse pinch hitter than Villar, who is pinch hitting at .167 (not .333).

Another Duval home run. Just like Thames loves hitting against Cincy, Duval loves the Brewers.

I just saw a tweet that Walker was issued jersey #15. I just chuckle a little bit knowing we'll hand out Cecil Cooper's old number like candy, but you want Gantner's #17? No way pal!

It's silly and historically stupid.

Cecil Cooper was, by several factors, a better player than Jim Gantner was. I mean, I love 'em both, grew up in the late 70s/80s, etc., but if the Brewers issue 15 they ought to issue 17.

Has any media outlet every written about why this is?

I used his entire career when I made my comment yesterday just so you know. Using 19 ABs to judge his pinch hit abilities(what he has this year) would be dumb...not that 48 is any better.

Also I don't like to mention to everyone I never made a silly Villar to Braun comparison(someone else) and I don't know why Rick feels the need to bring this up in a totally unrelated topic.

If a number isn't retired and Walker wore 15 in NY I don't know what the issue here is.

It's not an issue that Walker wears 15, it's an issue that the Brewers won't issue 17.

I get it. Gantner's from Wisconsin. Still, on those Brewers teams? He's probably the sixth or seventh-best starting player depending on the season. (And was a reserve in the late 70s when the Brewers emerged.)

Sogard and Villar both look like they have stepped it up today. Competition does great things sometimes.

What number did Walker have in NY? 17?

Villar lucky there but great to see our leadoff hitter continue to get on base!
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Because Jim Gantner still throws batting practice and serves as a part time coach with the team and Cecil Cooper does not.
