Cardinals took the lead, but tough for Carpenter to get thrown out there.

Of course immediately it is attributed to the fact no one else could have made that tag but Baez. :rolleyes

I know. Literally, any half-decent infielder makes that tag because that was an awful slide and there was so much body for Baez tag. But he put the tag down really fast, so MVP!

Carp channelong his inner aguilar. Probably cost them a run cause i dont think they get ththe dp on that inning ending grounder.

Bader bunting with runners at the corners and two outs was a curious decision. Hamels did make a nice play, but I don’t think that is a very high percentage success rate in that situation.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Bader's bunt with two outs was easily the most life I've seen out of a Cardinals player in this game. You can argue how wise of an idea it was, but at least he was putting forth effort.

Anybody else not see the rivalry in Cubs-Cardinals? Yanks-Red Sox and Dodgers-Giants are easily more heated. I haven't seen anything over the years to think these two teams don't like each other.

Maybe we should ask Hamels to give his two cents on the situation.

Feel like the cards are wasting too many chances here. They don't have a good bullpen. Worse than the cubs

Yeah, and it feels like the Cardinals are going to need to scratch across another run or two to get the W today.

I think the players/fans would be more into it if the Cardinals weren't out of the division race. Yeah, they have something to play for, but as we can tell, their hearts don't seem to be into it. And even though the Cubs still have the division to win, they are in the playoffs and have been at the top of the heap for the last few years.

[sarcasm]I like how Martinez trolled Cubs fans by spinning in circles at the warning track before coming down with that Kris Bryant flyball.[/sarcasm]

I think its smoltz who said he thinks teaching pitchers to go deep into games will be the next thing. How have teams not figured this out yet? Just pitch better so you can pitch more!

Mikolas at just 87 pitches heading into the 8th. Would love to see a quick inning so he can come back out and finish them off.

Mikolas only at 75 pitches. Trust him more than their pen.

I think that is his current game score, not total pitches.

You all realize Baez is going to be up with the game on the line in the 9th right? Can't wait to hear the gushing from announcers if he comes through. Ugh.
