Home run for Grisham.

It's nice to see the power he was showing in the spring according to the game recaps is carrying over.

More impressive to me is the no whiffs over two games.

Any reports on where Jeffress was at velocity wise? I don't care about his line in the minors, just want to see him throwing back in the mid 90's.

Via the Missions' Jerry Briggs:

In regard to Jeremy Jeffress, Manager Rick Sweet said "he looked free and easy" with his delivery.

His pitches registered in the low 90 mph range on the scoreboard, but Sweet said he thinks the numbers that fans see on the OKC scoreboard are low.

"I thought he threw well," Sweet said. "He's probably not as sharp as he wants to be, but that's why he's here."

Plans call for Jeffress is expected to pitch in three games in the homestand that starts on April 9.

Let's also add that it's pretty spectacular that San Antonio hired Jerry Briggs as their beat writer, not sure if he'll be on every road trip, but he's been a huge plus for fans thus far.

Excellent for us that the Shuckers are so well-represented with highlights and feature stories by not one, but two, local TV outlets!

Good to see Trent Grisham have a good couple of games. He has always been real young for his level so hopefully repeating AA will give him confidence and better results. Also didn't know he was going to play CF on a regular basis so would like to see how he performs defensively as well.

Box: Carolina 7, Down East 2

Aguilar and Segovia lead the way as Carolina earns its first win of 2019

Ryan Aguilar drove in three and Joantgel Segovia totaled three hits in Carolina's 7-2 road win in Kinston

VIDEO: Road game, but local TV captures Ryan Aguilar's early double

VIDEO: A bit more from the dueling TV markets

Aguilar's been someone I think could be a kind of Eric Thames replacement - albeit with better outfield defense. He's had OBP skills, and he has some speed, plus he flashed some power. The hit for average tool has lagged, though.

Just perused the prospects list.

The Rodney Dangerfield "no respect" award goes to:

Tie: Eddie Silva and Nate Greip, who both started the season in style.

Guys who have come up as relievers generally need exceptional seasons or really high upside scouting reports to get many votes, and Griep was outshone last year in every category but saves by Olczak, Sanchez and pre-injury QTC, plus a guy like Ponce had a bigger prospect pedigree and had marginally better stats after being moved to the bullpen. A bigger year in the other stats (sub 3.00 ERA, sub 1.20 WHIP, 10+ K/9, etc.) will attract more attention. Last night was definitely a good start.
