Personally with any NL Catcher who hurts you defensively... get him a 1B glove to work on until DH finally comes. If he can play 1B a little with his bat still in line up & have Pina be the great D catcher & game caller he is, that’d be great.

Is a .800 OPS really going to be that flashy at DH? It’s not even impressive at 1B as it let alone someone who doesn’t even play the field period.

The AL cumulatively put up a .786 OPS from the DH position last year, so an .800 OPS wouldn't be terrible...

Not going to look up the NL stats as NL teams didn't put DH's on their rosters. AL is a pretty good measuring stick, as those teams specifically sign DH's to play full time.

With a 26th man, I wonder if Nottingham is catcher number 3 and a left handed 1B.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

So basically average for a competing team...as I would guess bad DHs on rebuilding teams pull it down. Maybe not, but close enough to average anyway. I guess average is “unimpressive” to me. Not something we should stash at 1B waiting for a DH that may not come till after Narvaez is gone.

Narvaez was a high quality defender at 2B and will likely be at least acceptable at SS. This isn't another Keston Hiura in the middle by any means.

I presume you mean Urias?

Actually, his account was hacked by clancy.

Urias is very possibly a better defender at SS than Arcia, for the record. Arcia makes spectacular plays but his overall defense is nothing special.

Literally nothing in this post is accurate. Turn it completely around and you’d be closer. Jeez, you might confuse people with erratic hot takes like this.

This is a pretty good post :)

Vogt, Kratz, and Grandal all worked out - and Grandal, IIRC, was atrocious in the NLCS.

Narvaez will be okay, especially if he hits like he does. Narvaez put up a 120 OPS+. Grandal had a 119 OPS+.

Also, Miller Park/AmFam Field is more hitter-friendly than T-Mobile Park - 101/101 to 93/94 in multi-year park factor.

So Uwbadgers442 called both the Brewers signings of Smoak & Morrison, in the same post he claimed the Brewers believe robot umps will be implemented sooner rather than later and that's why they didn't resign Grandal. If true that seems to make a lot of sense as to why we "bought low" on Narvaez as well

Pretty interesting article over at FanGraphs today about how Omar has gotten his offense back on track despite a StatCast profile that isn't necessarily the most eye popping...

https://blogs.fangraphs.com/omar-narvaez-puts-it-all-together/

Omar's 3.0 WAR at the break has him dead even with Jose Ramirez, Bryan Reynolds & Jake Cronenworth occupying the 19-22 spots on the leaderboard.

Still have Omar for one more season of Arby's before he hits free agency after 2022.

So you're saying he'll be traded this winter?

(kind of blue)

...that, or he's about to get some Big Beef & Cheddar.
