Yelich is having a tough year, no doubt. But I'm most disappointed with Hiura.

Hiura has an identical OPS+ to Yelich.

Valid, but this doesnt make it any less disappointing. I thought he would make another jump, whereas I thought Yelich might regress 'some'.

Yelich is way more disappointing than Hiura. As bad as Hiura has been he has been on the team a little more than a year while Yelich has been the second best player in baseball the last two years. Going from MVP to average hitter or worse is far worse than any dropoff from any other player on this roster.

Hiura came into today with a 112 OPS+ and 11 HRs which would extrapolate to 47 HR over a full season. Some things are still a work in progress with him, after all he just turned 24. But I don't see any way he has been the most disappointing guy in the lineup.

I wonder if anyone is worse than the Brewers with a runner at 3rd and less than 2 outs.

Pick any stat you want about this offense and it will not be pretty.

It doesn't say much about this team when a guy you pick up off waivers hits cleanup and the worst statistical hitter in baseball last year is hitting 5th.

They aren’t good, but they have two issues which are not completely unrelated:

1. Fewer baserunners and overall scoring opportunities, and

2. Below average ability to cash in on those opportunities.

Both are a result of being a generally poor hitting team. The high number of strikeouts affects both of those things.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

So Gyorko is with the team but he can't play against righties. Makes no sense to me whatsoever. He has been our best hitter this year and needs to be in there every day.
