No, the ump granting it to him when Ashby was in the process of starting his delivery, leading him to pull back a bit. In addition to the missed strike three call on 2-2 the previous batter.

I think it’s more than an exaggeration to say that the umpire was trying to get Ashby hurt.

On the Bally coverage they didn’t show where the 2-2 pitch went. They just cut back to the picture as Narvaez was catching it so I don’t know if that was a bad call or not.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Ashby did what was needed but it looks like it might not be good enough.

Obviously, I wasn't actually serious about the ump trying to get Ashby hurt. Was an expression of my frustration that the ump gave him such a late timeout call, which could certainly have led to Ashby getting hurt. Ashby ended up throwing what would have been a strike but clearly let up on his delivery. Narvaez and Counsell were both quite angry.

When you put it in all caps it does sound like you were serious.

That was all on how Omar caught it. Still, a bad miss for the ump, and luckily they got outta it

Even movement by Omar doesn't excuse that call. That pitch was right down the middle. No amount of movement should affect your vision of that pitch.

That was a terrible miss, but Narvaez standing up getting ready for a throw might have blocked the ump’s view of the pitch.

We shouldn't even be reliant on an umpire's vision at this point. Automate the darn strike zone.

Let’s get a run or something here boys… anyone wanting to call a Huira pinch hit winner today or something - last time that worked!

I hope they at least pinch hit him for Cain when his spot comes up.

Looks safe to me but I gave up trying predict replays long ago.

Is it just me or do we slide really well? I’ve seen multiple examples of slides making a huge difference in games … Urias, Wong, Renfroe, Yelich , etc .

Is Rowdy our All Star rep, at least as far as position players go?

If Adames comes back soon he has a shot, too. You figure Hader and Burnes are close to locks on the pitching side, with Lauer also having a definite chance.

At this point I doubt if the Brewers will have any All Star position players unless there are a lot of dropouts.

Between Burnes, Lauer, and Hader the Brewers have plenty of candidates.

I’ll take the run but I thought he had a replay of last night.

Adames is either 2nd or 3rd in WAR in the NL among shortstops. He has more than a realistic chance.
