Brandon Woodruff Injury Discussion

Good news on the injury front for a change. Also, besides the Goldschmidt HR, which should've never happened in the first place, Woody looked as nasty as he's been all year tonight.

Wong committed an error earlier in the inning allowing a baserunner. Wong makes the play, the inning ends before Goldschmidt hits.

You knew me as Myday2001.

It was ruled a hit but it’s play that certainly could have been made……with how fast Bader runs I’m not sure Wong would have been able to throw him out anyway.

Wong has had a tough year so far.

Jason Alexander is fresh and went 7 IP for Nashville last week. Not on the 40-man though.
Start Suter and make it a bullpen game with Barker and Strzelecki called up? Not a lot of length there, though.

Woodruff’s recovery has been slowed by a circulation problem in his fingers.

No timetable for when he will start throwing again.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Uhh, he literally threw off a mound today....It has taken longer for him to start throwing because of the circulation problem and Counsell said they will have to be careful about it as he continues to ramp up. But there's been no "shutdown" in his recovery.

Uhhh, just repeating what Adam McCalvy reported on Twitter this evening.

Okay, well the way you and Yahoo worded it makes it seem as if there was a shutdown or he hasn't even started throwing yet, when, in fact, he threw a bullpen before the game this afternoon as the latest step in his recovery. The circulation issue was mentioned by Counsell post-game as something that's slowed his progression, but not stopped it outright.

The fact that Woodruff threw off the mound yesterday was already reported on the thread. I was just adding the update from later in the day. Nobody had posted anything about Counsell’s post game comments and when I saw the note on Yahoo’s Fantasy site it was new to me.

I said his recovery was “slowed”. When you put the words “shut down” in quotes you make it sound like something that I or someone else actually said.

the joke with the bucks is that whenever there was a guy injured, the response was that he was progressing, but without any timetable. Lopez was "progressing" for months before he made it back.
It's not just a tingling in his fingers, they are cold and the skin has bleached. That doesn't seem trivial to me.

Between the Woodruff and Freddy injuries we might just have to face that this is not our year and plan accordingly. The pitching is clearly the only strength of this team and with that now in doubt we are just not good enough.

Rotten luck.

By the time he’s able to get his feeling back, be able to throw all his pitches, and then probably make a rehab start or two he’s going to be missing at least a month of starts (and maybe more than that) from what originally looked like at worst a short stint on the IL.

Woodruff’s complete comment about a teammate who had this issue was that “he had it for a couple of weeks and then it was gone.” If that’s what it is for Woodruff he won’t be ready for a rehab assignment for a couple of weeks.
